Yup it’s the losses to SEC teams, but they aren’t too off in making the point that there’s no reason to schedule hard OOC games anymore.

Well let's be honest here. Did Bama have a lot of risk playing Wisconsin or South Florida this year?

I'd rather stay behind Georgia until they come to Austin.  Same way I felt about being behind SC in 05.  I'd rather have something to prove than something to defend.

You say a lot of stupid shit and you do it at a rapid, voluminous rate. You’re like a shit howitzer, just fucking blasting the board with constant bullshit.

It will make little difference but the whining from FSU fans will be delicious.

Effectively yes, but the committee could lower them and they are only guaranteed a bye if they are in the committee’s top 4 conference champions. The committee dropped FSU to 5th last year based on the QB being out.

Dude stop, this isnt even close to the same thing, they just won the SEC title with their backup. FSU got knocked because their backup looked like a middle schooler trying to throw the ball. They are the 2 seed even if they come out and announce that Beck is dead.

And put Boise State or Arizona State at the 2 spot? Come on man.

I have to follow him today just so I can mainline that shit.

Can someone answer why the selection committee would give a fuck about Beck's arm when Georgia appeared to be a better team without him?

My thinking exactly.  Stockton did throw an interception but he also completed 75% of his passes and had a (slightly) higher QBR.  I'm not seeing a dropoff.

Georgia didn't look any better without him. You guys are crazy that backup was ass - just because PK didn't playcall accordingly doesn't mean he was good. He was terrible.

Because FSU fans want another cross to martyr themselves on.

I dont care. Tell me Vegas odds, you know, the people who are betting money and not saying shit for clicks and views.

Good fricken grief.  Watching the BJ’s Norte Dame is now getting on the pre selection show on ESPN 2.

Norte Dame almost always gets trucked in the post season whether it’s a bowl or playoff.

They dont. End of story. It is irrelevant.

Yup because of the offense (and 2 losses to UGA)

2 losses to the #2 team in the country, one of them in OT, say it aint so.

his completion stats were mega inflated by rb passes and shit. He tried to lay the boom several times and ended the game concussed. He is an idiot and didn’t really do anything great

And the other commentators are looking at him like he’s a fool.   Even Mullens who is kind one of our haters himself.

All 3 other talking heads had to stifle laughter at orlovsky's last "point".  What a fucking moron.  Texas hammered Michigan at their place.  Michigan beat fOSU at the shoe.  Argument over.

We were ahead of Penn State in every computer and behind them in most every human poll.

I was wondering if I am the only one that thought UGA is upgrading their qb.

Losing to Northern Illinois and then playing literally 0 marquee games for the rest of the season is a cruel bitch. Nobody cared what they did to Virginia, USC, and Army

I'm a big fan of the concept of computer rankings -- I develop and run computer analysis of physical systems for a living -- but as of yet I can't say I've seen computer models pass every sniff test.  Sagarin has ND at #1.  I mean, that's fucking ridiculous.  If I were Sagarin, I would look at a result like that and ask "where is the flaw in my model?  There is no way a 1-loss ND with a best win over A&M and a loss to Northern Illinois is better than an undefeated Oregon team with a win over Ohio State."

I couldn't believe the ND-Hickory matchup came to fruition.

This is why I like the concept of crowd sourcing the computer models.  One model may emphasize one type of data, another emphasize another. But if you have 50 computer models, then combined they will use all possible data to some degree. And if one uses an obscure method, then it will be only a small fraction of the overall rating.

How good are their losses?

Still complaining about Texas' resume 🙄

Klatt is just sticking up for his employer's chosen conference. He's been blowing Texas all year. Now, he's got to put on his outraged Big 10 hat. The most amusing part is Texas never shys from playing a tough schedule. We purposefully allowed our game with Michigan to shift to playing there first to accommodate his f'ing employer. And of course to get the fuck out of the Big 12 faster.

to answer his question: NO

Losses count, too, and Ohio State has a TERRIBLE one at home.

Texas:  Pushed in Michigan’s shit in Ann Arbor, made conference title game in best conference, took a second loss while Ohio State had its tiny dick in its hand at home.

Ohio State:  Lost to Michigan at home, touches itself at night.

Analysis over.

Just leaving this in this thread cause seems most appropriate.

3/4 of those are in same side of bracket.

Well, "fair" would be 2/2, so it's a little off, but it's a pretty minor discrepancy.

My favorite was 2012 when the computers ranked us above Alabama; same record but we lost to a better team.

Fortunately in a playoff situation, Ohio State has the ability to prove they are better than us on the field. Not some on paper resume shit.

Glad we are not longer ranking teams like one might apply for a job.

"lost" is being exceedingly charitable my friend. i think tcu in '22 is the only thing you're looking down at.

also, if you are saying they had the same record going into the game, that's not right. bama had lost to manziel and notre was undefeated.

of course, notre had to vacate the entire season afterwards and ultimately finished 0-0.

Matt Hayes: College Football Playoff 'furious' and will investigate leak of SMU edging Alabama for last spot

Quote

LAS VEGAS - The first 12-team College Football Playoff resulted in the first leak of a team chosen for the field. “I was furious,” CFP director Rich Clark said Tuesday to USA TODAY Sports. “I told all involved, you’ve betrayed the process.” Brett McMurphy of the Action Network posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that SMU would be given the final at-large spot ahead of Alabama - 30 minutes before the Mustangs was revealed as the 11th seed in the playoff

The debate was the biggest decision by the 13-member selection committee, and created controversy before and after the selection. Never in the history of the College Football Playoff had a leak occurred, and Clark says there will be an investigation to determine how the information was leaked. “There are only a certain number of people who know,” Clark said. “ I know one thing, it wasn’t me. There’s the selection committee, ESPN and our staff. Someone in that group (is the leak).”

But finding who released the information will be a difficult process. Clark said he heard about the leak from his son Milo, who sent him a text prior to the release of SMU has the last team in. “He said, ‘Dad, what happened?’ I had no idea what he was talking about until I saw it,” Clark said. Clark was speaking Tuesday at the Sports Business Journal Intercollegiate athletics forum. On the big stage, he spoke about the process of how the committee reached its decision, including revealing that the committee will send ideas to the conference commissioner on how to make the playoff better.

Those ideas, however, don’t include absolute transparency. In other words, the specific weekly votes, by committee member, shouldn’t be revealed. Clark also believes the playoff should have multiple rankings shows, not just one show to announce the rankings. “We have to have enough (playoff shows) for transparency,” Clark said. “If we go just the last week, there's too much mystery to that. If we take it away and put one ranking out there, I think that's a big mistake."

Having as many as they have and feeling like they need to defend prior ratings is a big mistake.  They don't need 6.  Things change  too much.

Nick saban was right, smu should not have been punished for losing the game instead it should have been a play-in game. The rankings were flawed to begin with.

Bama and Georgia doing all this whining about their schedule, apart from each other the big game on their schedule was Tennessee.

In shaggys preseason playoff predictions, exactly one poster picked Tennessee to make the playoffs. It was me. And I don't even think Tennessee is that tough. They had an easy schedule making them look good

This is as bad as week one when someone in the playoff committee leaked that Aggy had the Best Loss.

There’s film on him now and 3 weeks to prepare. Plus he has to think about being the starter. Teams should sell out against the run. I don’t think they make the final
