How this guy didn't realize immediately that the scope was backwards or that there was photos being taken is beyond me.
September 5, 20241 yr Popular Post Hey Navy! You drive the fucking boat and let the Marines do the rifle work, ok? Good lord!

I had some captains that only cared about making admiral and gave zero fucks about the people under their command.

How much brain power does it take to figure out that there has to be an external antenna, and it has to be on the very top of the ship? Yet no one looked for the antenna on the exterior of the ship? I think some of the officers were in on it, too.
September 5, 20241 yr Senior CPO is an E-8, right? So, for all her skulking, lying, and ignoring USN regs, she gets busted one grade to E-7? Amazing.

Yeah, he didn't put that scope on the rifle, and chances are when he looked through it, he knew something was wrong, but didn't want to look like an idiot and ask why it was that way. Whoever issued him that rifle didn't like him.

I think some of the officers were in on it, too. That's fucking wild. I'm shocked there aren't some sort of sensors that automatically detect wifi networks on our ships. Seems like kind a of a no-brainer, and an extremely easy deterrent against a foreign agent slipping a transmitting device aboard. Also, the network was named "Stinky" and wouldn't it show as an available, albeit locked, wifi network to anybody who bothered to check their phone/computer to see if they were near enough shore to get a signal? Should be pretty obvious that "Stinky" wouldn't be an official Naval network.
September 5, 20241 yr Man that target is really out there. I don't get it? I mean it looks like a photo op, so I would guess he isn't even looking through the scope because it would be obvious it was backwards.

Should be pretty obvious that "Stinky" wouldn't be an official Naval network. You can set wifi networks to not broadcast their name. It would then show as a hidden network when people saw it on their devices. There might be other hidden networks on ships by design because then you have to know both the network name and the password to log in to it. Edited September 5, 20241 yr by kevwun

May 7May 7 Whole buncha more Navy leaders fixin' to get fired. Are we losing fighter jets faster than the Russians? https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2025/05/07/navy-fighter-jet-red-sea/ Quote A Navy fighter jet failed to land on an aircraft carrier and plummeted into the Red Sea on Tuesday, marking the fourth major mishap involving the vessel and the third loss of a fighter jet deployed with it since the warship left home last year. The F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet, worth about $67 million, went overboard after an unsuccessful attempt to slow it down upon landing on the USS Harry S. Truman, the Navy said in a statement. Both aviators aboard the jet safely ejected and were rescued at sea by helicopter with minor injuries, and no one aboard the warship’s flight deck was harmed, the service said.
May 7May 7 Since they've deployed they've lost the same number of fighter jets as Ukraine has lost this year.
May 7May 7 Operations in the Red Sea have been very intense and constant. Fatigue may be setting in for everyone.

Gettysburg last year because the fire control officer on that fucking ship shot at a pair of F18's lining up to land on the carrier. One of whom was shot down (crew recovered ok), and Gettysburg were in the process of shooting down the 2nd plane when the Captain of the Truman stepped in to belay the Gettysburg.... and then as a reward... that same Captain was relieved of duty because of the Suez Canal Collision in Feb, and the replacement Captain had formerly commanded the USS Eisenhower, and was supposed to be commanding it being overhauled in Newport. Instead he got launched back out on a half tour. Thats a lot of fuckups for 1 carrier group in less than 6 months

It may have been an E-3 who gundecked a maintenance check, but everyone who signed the report saying that it was properly accomplished will have their heads on the block. And the CO will be on the block for not properly training the crew or exercising proper oversight.

There are several other smaller commands that have Command Senior Chiefs now. CMD is also a rating now, so to be a CSC or CMC, you have to go to command leadership school and shift from your old rating to the new CMD rating - i.e. if you were an OSCS, you would now be a CMDCS.
