I was hoping it was a spinoff of The Wire.

So great casting and visuals and a plot full of holes?

Taylor gonna Sheridan

Amazing. Had no clue being a Landman was so dangerous.

Commuting in Houston is no joke sir.

Hamm and Billy Bob could read the dictionary to one another and it’d be a compelling scene. So it should be good despite Sheridan.

The Railroad Commission ain't no joke.

JR make an appearance?

I’ll give the show some leeway. There are different kinds of landmen, and there are different kinds of companies. I’ll stick with it unless they try to portray landmen as some of Blackwater private security force.

Violence on a lease or a drillsite is just insanely rare. Hunting and firearms are often explicitly forbidden. It’s observed because if you violate the lease everybody is out of work.

The crime problems usually come from transient workers/hanger ons off the clock.

But he quit drinking and sticks to beer.

I’m a Sheridan fan outside of Yellowstone which my wife loves.

We usually know what to expect with his stories.

Looking forward to this.

Apparently my SiL and nephew will be in this show as well, I knew they were in shots with Billy Bob but it didn’t know what show he was filming

Follow around some 40-something problem drinker as he visits courthouses in scenic locations like Carthage, Big Spring, and Cuero. After he puts in a couple hours, the drama really amps up as he heads to the Chili's in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn he's staying in and attempts to romance the recently-divorced bartender with 4 kids. One episode is just him driving back all day on a Friday to his sad little apartment in San Antonio. But hey, 75 cents a mile reimbursement plus day rate!

I told my dad about this (he's had over 40 years in the oil bidness) and his first response was "so this is going to be a courthouse drama, right?  Except instead of a a courtroom, he'll be in the basement looking through filing cabinets?"

In today’s episode, Don Draper forgets his 4 digit code to use the copier in Carrizo Springs and the fat elderly Mexican ladies get annoyed and then look it up for him.

Do not hate. Can relate to the lawyer roommate. "I gotta know."

I like it.  It's def over the top.  Lots of caricatures - wisecracking oilman, spoiled daughter, high school football star, etc...  The conversations between Thornton's character and his daughter are hilarious.

the only believable part so far is .....

1. he's divorced from a bleach blonde

2. he drives a ford truck

3. his son wants to work on o/g

4. all the work trucks stopping at the bikini coffee shack

Was the opening monologue about the money and profit true?   For those in the know

The surface guys are going to fucking love this show. Millions of Americans might believe their “so I got a shotgun on my ass” bullshit stories now.

Yeah, remember her in Varsity Blues and in Heroes.

First ep was great.

”If she lost the power of speech, I’d marry her again tomorrow.”

For the olds above that don’t know Ali, you kids have been on this site long enough to know where to look.

I don’t think the reference to the hot blonde are about Ali….

I can normally suspend belief on Sheridan’s shows but the daughter ordering an animal-style, lettuce wrapped Whatsburger has taken it too far.

It's ok to bang (legal) chicks that are young enough to be your daughter....or granddaughter.

Ali Larter needs to eat a cheeseburger, she's got that bag of deer antlers look going right now.

Good show. Makes me want to drive out to Webb and San Augustine county and buy some men a cold beer.

funny thing is they film a lot of this at a make shift man camp and movie set about half way between Cresson and Weatherford.

You wanna spend any more time in the greater Midland / Odessa metro area than you absolutely need to?

Started this last night.  Entertaining but yes, a bit of a stretch on the plot details.
