Just a terrible show. It’s not the actors fault. This piece of crap is all on Sheridan

so far my favorite part is a 3-4ish month old baby manages to not make a peep while sleeping through the entire night, while there is a big barking dog, 2 dressed up visitors using the doorbell more than once, and a badly beat up dude stumbling around the house, .... not one of those things managed to wake up a 3 month old.

My wife and I are gigantic fans of FNL the film and series. I’ve enjoyed the vibe of the last 2 episodes. I think Sheridan is pulling on those heart strings, and I’m fine with it.

I’ll give him credit for focusing on the vibe instead of Billy Bob and Jon Hamm defeating the Big Bad like the first 4 seasons of Yellowstone.

But yes, there are plenty of No Notes Sheridan plot hole to point at. I think there are 2 kinds of viewers. The Chris Ryan viewer that is riding with Sheridan all the way to the train station. And the Andy Greenwald viewer that hate watches to point out the absurdity of Sheridan’s writing.

Sheridan needs a fucking reality handling assistant.

Last episode:

"We have a special on Bud Light. They match me the price in a bonus"

"We're working. Just bring us a pitcher of Ultra"

Ultra and Bud Light have the same ABV of 4.2%.

And before anyone says they're carb counting, they all ordered CFS with mashed potatoes and fries.

The reason they didn’t want Bud Light has nothing to do with calories or alcohol content.

To me the show is starting to lose its momentum. Yay, hot chicks, but that’s about it.

I'm sure there's still a bias against Bud Light out there, but what BBT said was "We're working, just bring us Ultra" as if Bud Light was gonna get them drunk, but Ultra was basically water.

There were multiple scenes in previous episodes where BBT explains why he only drinks Ultra...unaware there are plenty of other beers with the same ABV, like Miller Lite and Bud Light.

BBT's character is written as a sharp, well rounded fountain of knowledge who would know Ultra/Bud Light have the same ABV and the same owners.

A reality assistant could help point these things out to Sheridan, who doesn't appear to do any fact checking.

Or maybe AB is giving him a shitload of money for product placement. Nobody mentions Miller or Coors. Show me an oilfield where they don't have Coors or Miller. They don't exist.

It’s humor. He’s said multiple time that he doesn’t drink any more. Just Ultra.

Or maybe I’m being trolled. 😆

Knowing zip about the o&g industry, it would be interesting to know what some of the pano shots are of. Like the giant plume of fire in the aerial shot right after BBT breaks up the pickup truck jerkoff session.

That's called a flare. It burns off waste gasses. The rigs you see in the city shots are "stacked" or being repaired in the yard.

Im a weirdo but i cant stand that they are in midland/odessa but you can clearly tell that half the show is filmed like 4 hours to the east near Olney or Graham

To piggyback on what RPM said, flaring sucks. My FIL’s place in Glasscock County had a pretty nice breeze at night until they turned the area into Saudi Arabia. Pretty bad light pollution too.

If you’re ever in a position to sign a lease, make sure you’re getting paid on flared gas. Many folks with older leases are not.

I think I’m safe on my one acre in Alpharetta, GA. The most natural resource inquiries I ever get is the local plumber’s assistant asking if he can bow hunt in my backyard.

My stepbrother is the Anheuser busch distributor marketing contact quoted at length in the WSJ articles throughout all the bud light blowback; I showed him the scene on Christmas eve and he laughed and said yeah Ultra is through the roof. My SIL hired the red clay strays for 3 events so that episode hit close to home.

Also he said there is a good chance that Ambev is paying Sheridan for all the ultra jokes. Lean into the bud light hate for a demographic audience that can't be swayed, get them to buy more ultra. Same company.

Season 1 of Yellowstone was bud until coors outbid them for season 2.

Yep. I should have read your posts before spouting off like inside baseball.

When I finally realized this show is a comedy, it became much better.  It's actually quite funny.

The low end nursing home joke.  "That's where you go when your kids don't love you."

When I was in Dalhart they all drank Coors (pronounced "kurzz") Light.  That was many year ago.  Might be Ultra today dunno.

the Modelo brand is owned by Constellation Brands in the US and therefore is not affiliated with AB InBev.

Ultra is not a new thing in rural Texas. I’ve helped exhibitors unload at the Houston Rodeo since 2020, and the only beer they drink is Ultra. More of the same when I visit my wife’s family in West Texas.

Sheridan isn’t big on local accuracy, but he nailed the Ultra thing.

Constellation has the U.S. licensing rights for Modelo. But AB InBev owns and distributes Modelo everywhere else.  That was an antitrust condition for the merger in 2012.

it seem crazy that Modelo Especial surpassed Bud Light last year as the #1 selling beer in the U.S.

It’s an entertaining show. In fact I like most of Sheridan’s efforts. Is everything factual? Fuck no. It ain’t a documentary.

So far as the beer debate, if it ain’t bourbon I drink this.

I don't drink it regularly, but it seems like they've jacked up the price.  It's on the expensive side.

You pull out an Ultra around here and you're gonna get side eye from everybody. What are you, some kind of rich city asshole? You bring some keto to eat?

For reference: in Houston a case of Coors Original and Coors Light is $25, and a case of Ultra is $29.

Based on the HEB app: in Midland a 30 pack of Coors Original and Coors Light is $26. A 30 pack of Ultras is $29.46.

Beer is just way too expensive now.

Ultra is always going to be more expensive than BL or Coors. It's a premium brand. I miss Michelob original.

It's product placement.

Today was the first episode I've found hard to get through. Just an all over collection of random shit leading to nowhere, but worse than the usual.

“I just witnessed my whole marriage encapsulated into the last 5 minutes and now Im exhausted” was a pretty good line. “I don't know if I want to lose another lover but I wouldn't mind having a dick in my face” was funny too.

It sucks, but I can't stop watching the dumpster fire.

Every scene is so wooden. Reminds me of jr high plays.

Y’all are crazy. Grandma Saracen saying “ I wouldn’t mind having another dick in my face” should be hanging in the Louvre.

The young lawyer shows me that Sheridan learned everything about lawyers on Suits and Ally McBeal.  There are so many things about that character that just don't exist in the real world.  Particularly when she takes it so personally that her client has to pay more to the mourning widows.  I get it - "win at all costs" - but she (or her firm) make the same either way, and it's hardly an "L" on the record.   This heel turn is both weird and hilarious.

If you want me to really believe she is pissed off to the point of threatening Tommy/Coop with the false alternative narrative, at least introduce the partner at her firm in Houston (played by Sigourney Weaver, Viola Davis, or Michael Chiklis, take your pick) reaming her out because Monty reamed them out (as opposed to her directly) and threaten her partnership promotion.

All that said, I enjoy the show and will keep watching it.

Well, alcoholics engage in all kinds of self-justifying and rationalizing behavior, like "I don't drink liquor, just beer," so I kind of figured the Ultra meme was one of those.  But, and I'm way behind, maybe permanently behind, BBT's character seems to be highly functional.

Kinda like the old saw, Coors Light is water.  Well, yeah, it kinda is, but it's high-alcohol water.

This show is to BBT what Deadpool is to RR.  In both cases they’re the ideal platform for them to show their talents.  And that’s OK.

The windmill farms track for that locale but we haven't seen the Olney cattle ranches or their orange/red dirt.  Apparently Sheridan's home ranch is outside of Weatherford and he likes to shoot in their town, while the landscapes are somewhere nearby in Young County.

I think if you check, you'll find that it's a 24 pack of Ultra vs 30 with the others.

Meanwhile, can anybody tell me who is the annoying cunt that sings "paramount paramount paramount plus" to the tune of Jingle bell rock?  Because I will hire a hitman to get rid of her.
