It was a dirty hit and he deserved to be ejected. He also deserves to be fined and probably suspended.

That was definitely a cheap shot but the extended sermon from the announcer was too much.

Dirty ass team

That was a dirty play by one player. The Texans , as a whole, certainly don’t have that reputation.

it was a hit for sure but he let up. he committed to the tackle a split arcos before he started the slide. he could gave avoided that hit, just lay back

shouldn’t hit a sliding qb, looks bad

Man... Lawrence got concussed immediately after them doing the piece about helping the community/kids. Terrible timing and definitely an unnecessary hit (and subsequent reaction by Al-Shaair)

Fair enough

Yeah in slow motion he’s got all the time in the world to let up.

in real life he’s trying to make a tackle and aiming for the hips, and at the very last second when he’s 3 feet away Lawrence drops and his head is right where his hips were.

Either sliding needs to be nobody within 3 yards or just get rid of sliding all together. It’s more dangerous to slide right at the last instant than it is to just get tackled.

Notice how this all happens between 15 and 14 on the clock

As a defender you have a split second to get in position and go try to make a tackle, there isn’t time to “back off” if the guy slides right at the last instant and right at the first down marker.

If the QB scrambles for a first down they should be just like any other runner.

One can only hope that since we couldn’t score a TD in the 1st half that the 2nd half touchdown slump comes to an end.

That's probably not going to happen for the most important position in the NFL and quite often the highest paid player on the field. The NFL is going to do everything it can to protect QBs.

Every other player running with the ball in the NFL has serious consequences, you either protect yourself or you are tough enough to take the hits.

Running backs and wide receivers get regularly smashed and nobody bats an eye. The QB can throw the ball away or dive down or slide well before anyone is going to hit him and they will leave him alone.

You run for the first down then at the last instinct you drop your head right in the target zone for a tackler that is just bad technique. Either slide early or dive down.

I don’t understand the baseball slide at all. Just put flags on the QB or special jerseys and those guys are 2 below

I really hope Bobby Slowik isn't back next year.

He definitely isn't getting a HC job. So Hannah and Demeco need to make the tough, smart decision.

Ok, back to what was working. Heavy on  Mixon, medium developing pass game. LFG, can put this thing out of reach right here. Nico seems OK, too.

Stausser, the OL coach, will probably be the sacrificial lamb.

Didn't catch it, but you're probably not going to get into a better review situation and you're already down 10. Just go for it and hope the refs fuck it up. Not a bad idea, Jags.

much needed bye week. this team has been on a slide since that 5-1 start

2 pt conversion to do down 9/remain down 11 instead of XP to go down 10?(...?.)

If you say so.

Colts pulled off a win. Houston needs to win this or it’s big trouble

I was wrong about that - they needed that timeout.

Woof...

Can’t go total conservative here and run 40 seconds off, not being up by only a FG. Have to go for the first here even if it risks stopping the clock on an incompletion. A first down here ends the game…

Hah, disregard this idiot.

Ballgame, and much-needed bye week…

Magic number for the division is 2. Indy also has a bye next week and their remaining schedule is weak. Ours is anything but.

if i’m hannah, i sit down demeco, slowick, and  burke and fucking unload on them

this team is too sloppy, that’s coaching

at times, low energy and effort

light a fire under their asses and hope it trickles down

this team should easily be 10-3

Nah you got for 2 there. If you make it, 10 points wins the game, if you don't you still down 11 and can tie with two scores.

Not sure how I'm feeing here since we spent whole offseason praying he doesn't leave so I think that guy is still somewhere in there, and we might just need a better OL, but I also think coaching Stroud would draw good candidates. Hopefully he irons it out in the next 6 weeks and we all live happily ever after.

Whole team is having issues we just we're not having last year...

Many of the key components to our success (DeMeco, Slowik, CJ, Tank) are in the 2nd years of their career in their current roles; I think some growing pains/learning curve is to be expected. Two years ago we had the worst roster in the NFL; building quality depth in all rooms is probably going to take another offseason of FA/draft. I still have faith that DeMeco and CJ are Super Bowl-winning caliber talents.

At least this offseason we should have a clear mandate as to the #1 priority. I’d like to shore up SS and add another pass catcher, but if we do nothing else we have to fix the OL…

Ryans stood behind Azeez today, saying we don't teach that, Azeez would never intentionally hurt anyone, but also that Jax overreacted and the rule must change because QBs don't get down like they're supposed to. He did stop short of saying bitches like Mahomes and Allen abuse the fuck out of this rule.

Fucking love this guy.

Make no mistake: I think Azeez has done some extremely aggressive things and this was one of them, but also John McClain saying this was worst hit he's seen in his 48 year career and other similar pearl clutching was overboard.

I won’t be mad about the upcoming fine and likely suspension, but that doesn’t mean that there hasn’t  been some pretty big overreaction from certain commentators today.

OK.

It may be, but a penis to the head is dirtier.

Rex on it, too. I think bad play by Azeez but slide rule is an issue that needs a look. Seen QBs fake the slide, past weekend saw Mayfield slide about a 1/4 second before contact and get up asking ref for flag, who emphatically shook his head no at Mayfield and Baker pouted.
