Man it feels good to actually have real working people in charge.

Yeah i casually follow both the Texans and Cowboys threads. I could step in day 1 as a Madden experienced GM and improve the Cowboys situation. The Texans I’d be sundowning in meetings and be the guy IT has to tell to plug the laptop to power.

Why are we stockpiling crappy O-linemen?

Robinson isn’t an all pro but he’s not crappy. PFF had him as their #2 best FA OT.

Caserio is a good GM. Hannah, DeMeco and Nick are very much aligned.

They basically added a year on his contract at what he is making now and then gave him a big raise for this upcoming season.  Rewards him for his year last year but doesn't cripple us in the future when we add another big extension or two to the books.  Smart, smart move.

I really like what they’ve done over the last couple of weeks.  If they have a good draft and stay healthy next year, they could really make some noise.

#Texans signing veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown to a one-year deal worth $3 million, per a league source.
He is represented by Drew Rosenhaus @KPRC2

#3965

With all of these tackles being signed it seems more likely that Tytus might stay inside? Still think two of our first four picks need to be OL….

#3966

I assume they think the Horns LT will be taken prior to #25. He won the trophy for the best Offense Lineman for sure!

Hook’em!!!

From everything I've ready I don't think any of the FAs we've signed will start. Going to need someone in house to be better under the new OC, and going to need to draft two guys who can play next year or sign a FA out there who will start.

I'd be floored if we gave Cam Robinson $12m to sit the bench.

I mean, when you say it like that, yeesh.

But he gave up 3rd most pressures and 4th most sacks as T last year... got to think he's very expensive swing tackle depth and Howard/Fisher remains the plan. No point in moving Tunsil if the backup plan is to outbid New England for that guy.

Then see if you can draft a OT who can beat out Howard/Fisher in camp and get a second guy at OG who can become the starter before year ends.

Maybe? Eek.

To be fair, I'd be thrilled if we drafted someone who steals the job from him (and I'm not sure it would be terribly difficult.)  I'm just saying that kind of financial commitment seems to indicate they think he's the guy this year.

How much money is guaranteed on Robinson's contract. What would be the plan if you go into the draft and watch the Top 3 OTs get taken before you pick or can convince another team to make a trade? I would say Robinson is a contingency plan that allows them to draft BA instead of drafting for a specific need.

Yeah, either they want flexibility if the best available they have rated significantly higher than the best OL on the board, or they are trying to play mind games and make other teams think they may not go OL, so that one of their top 3 OL falls to them (then they cut one or more of these non-guaranteed contract FAs).

Not happening, they didn't sign two journeymen tackles with that bit of money they free upped from re-working contracts simply to pay for depth at tackle.  Robinson and Fisher start and Titus slides to guard which means they stay put and draft the best available interior offensive linemen to fix one of the other holes in their offensive line and address the tackle situation next year.

This isn't a great offensive tackle draft, every prospect has got some issues and I don't see them overpaying for someone they aren't sure about and you don't go get two veteran tackles if you are sure about a prospect.

Diggs signing with the Patriots. 3 years, $69M. $26M guaranteed. Even with the puny guarantee, that’s a lot better than I anticipated.

#3978

Wow, 100k per a yard is a steep price. Glad New England is paying it and not us. Should be worth a good compil pick for us at 23m apy. Bravo New England!

No comp pick for the Texans. Something to do with either void years or number of contracts he’s had.

WTF?  $23M a year for a receiver who had lost a step before blowing out his knee?  Heck, Tank Dell might get $5M in this market if he can ever walk again.

Yeah that’s the downside of adding void years…

The #Texans are signing former Colts LB E.J. Speed to a one-year $5M deal, according to @Schultz_Report

142 total tackles last season, 7 TFL’s and an interception. 👀

this defense is going to be brutal ...

#3986

Some might not like this but he was really good last year in his new role at the nickel position.

Quote

For #Texans Jalen Pitre, signed to a $42.6 million contract extension with $29.16 million in total guarantees, $18 million in new money in next 12 months, goal of continuing to play for his hometown team has been reached for Stafford graduate

He was playing really well pre-injury last year; nickel is definitely his best postion…

LZ was dead on when Texans picked Stingley and Kenyon Green a few years ago. Probably had insider info, and kept parroting "Green is an ass kicking guard who will be a rock of your OLine for years!"  I have a bad feeling, since this morning LZ was pumping hard that the Texans want Bama OG Booker and are willing to trade up to get him. If any player/position works out, great, but I'd much prefer they don't reach on anyone or settle. If they don't have to give up much to move up, go get a top 3 WR or OT. If they sit at 25, wait and see who is the best available there or trade down a few spots and reset (Giants and Browns want to get back into the late first round for a QB).

#3991

With Trader Nick at the helm it’s tough to predict but here’s my guess. 3 scenarios:

Stay put-Tyler Booker

Move up < than 19 spots-Kelvin Banks

Trade back to top of 2nd round- Donovan Jackson

if we stay in place, i'm good with the ohio st wr or o-lineman

why not both?

dream scenario would be Egbuka in the first rd with Simmons sliding late into the second

#3997

This otoh makes me want no part of Simmons and I think there's a really high chance he falls precipitously out of the first and maybe even completely out of the second rd. Of course, all it takes is one team to be the Raiders and overdraft a player based on hype so I hope that team is not us. At some point, however, Simmons represents value. I just don't know where that is.

Trader Nick getting an early jump on things.

Texans trade
2025 5th round pick (166 overall)
2027 5th round pick

Browns trade
2025 6th round pick (179 overall)
2025 6th round pick (216 overall)
2025 7th round pick (255 overall

#3999

Think with Membou going at #6 there’s no chance Banks falls to us.

Booker or Zabel at 25 UNLESS Golden is there. That’s a tough choice…

#4000

Simmons is intriguing but isn’t a good culture fit. His teammate, Jackson, seems like a reach. Nick might have to pivot to WR at 25
