I think I would go with Jayden Higgins at 34 and be happy with it. He's a big dude, 6'4 215, ran a 4.47 at the combine, and is probably the best WR on the board. If they don't get him here, I think he will go soon to someone else. Could be a hell of an option to have across from Collins as a #2, since Kirk will be the slot guy.

id good with that pick

The two ISU guys, Burden, and Bond look like the next cluster of WRs. Hopefully they walk away with at least one of them. What about one of the Ohio State RBs if they are actually bad asses that can make more a difference than any retread we have at RB2 (or could take over RB1 in 2026)?

He gambled that Golden would be available.

well, yeah, duh. my point is that it's not a gamble per se, in the sense that it implied a big risk when Golden was two picks away and the Texans still had other needs to address. Less risk in standing pat at 25 and waiting on the player instead of using valuable draft capital to move up two slots. The shitty part was that both Golden AND Jackson went right before the Texans pick.

We have Nico and a one legged Tank at WR,

Did you forget about Kirk?

Now have 5 in Top 100. Best center still available if they want to move Patterson to guard. Should probably use three of 5 on OG & OT, and get Cam Williams. Other two should be WR & DT/DB.

Good trade.

i don't think he plays another down for us tbh

I agree 100% and think it was a great trade and might have even supported a trade down even if Golden had been there at 25. Between Nico, Kirk, Metchie, Hutch, Watson, and even Braxton Berrios, we have decent depth at the WR position and there are other guys available later in this draft. Our interior OL is much more pressing of a need imo than WR.

I know it isn't a need, but Mike Green is going to be a stud.  Surprised he slipped.  Would not be mad if we picked him up based on value alone.  Same with Arroyo from Miami.

I'd get the highest graded player still on our board at 34, one of the ISU receivers at 58 (or trade up to get 'em if we have to), and all OL in round 3.

In what round does Cam Williams take a pay cut from UT's NIL offering?

Just curious

I have no idea who Houston picks at #34, if they stay there. Their "needs" (OL, WR, DT) don't align with what's currently the best players on the board (edges, DBs, RBs), imo, although I'm not a Luther Burden guy at that spot

They're potentially in prime position to trade back again and pick up a future 2nd rounder+, but I wouldn't want to move farther back than 10 picks

The board is loaded at edge. Houston obviously doesn't need an edge right now, but it's never a bad idea to take talented edges; Green, Ezeiruaku, Scourton, Jackson, etc

I really like Mason Taylor as a long term TE to grow with Stroud, although I'd like him more a few picks back

My biggest concern is that the Browns need a WR, and have 2 of the next 4 picks. They will likely take one WR with those, so if there is a WR you want, you have to get him at 34. Trading back is fine and all, but it better be good value at this point.

I think the Browns may sell this 33 pick to a team looking to draft Sanders, and we should hope so. Having your pick of the remaining players would be very nice. I could see the Raiders/Saints/Jets/Cowboys trading up for him to jump the line, and I hope they do.

what about the mizzou wr ?

He’s probably the best available WR but I don’t think he’s a culture fit.

He also may be a rapist.

Now that it's confirmed that Houston was interested in Booker (per the reports of Houston trying to trade up to draft him), it arguably signals that Houston will be moving towards gap/power and away from outside zone variations, for those who had doubts about it

We can use him to rape opposite quarterbacks on passing downs

Not at #34. Take best available player or trade back another 5-10 spots for WR/OL

i think that's way overblown and he'd be an excellent pick here considering his talent and skillset

Smoke on internet is we like Jayden Higgins at 34. Iowa State WR. Lance Z's opinion as follows:

Quote

Big inside/outside wideout with modest athletic attributes but outstanding ball skills that make him a projectable NFL prospect. Higgins needs a more limited route tree but can operate on all three levels in the right scheme. He’s smooth but physical in his routes and does a nice job of creating pockets of separation with force and strength. He has mismatch qualities from the slot with body control and a catch radius that make him a menace on jump balls downfield. He won’t outrun cornerbacks and is nothing special after the catch, but his size, ball skills and competitiveness create a profile of production as a future contributor in three-wide sets.

texans could draft 3 hof'rs today and this thread will hate the picks 😂😂

LOL that's what we do here.  I was bitching about the Will Anderson trade last night, not because it wasn't a great pick/player, but because of the value of the trade. The lower you pick or less you give up for HOFers, the smarter you are. If you reach on a player 20+ picks higher than the field consensus, you better be right.

What time does the draft start back up today?

I Guess If You Say So GIF

The two ISU WRs would both probably be gone by their next pick. I’m still salty they didn’t give up a 3rd or 4th to move up for Golden.

Me too.

What are Texans remaining pics?

Today they have another 2 and three 3s

I like the Higgins pick, I think he will be an excellent #2 WR on the outside. Kirk should be the slot guy.

Need more OL, a DT, RB, LB depth and maybe a TE if Stover doesn't seem to be a long-term solution. Lots of picks left, I hope they get some good guys to fall.

Go get Gunnar later if he’s there.

Chargers and Eagles had a deal at #21 but didn’t get it into the NFL in time

We have to address the OL. Ersery from Minnesota is the best available.
