If this board is going to force a poster to scroll texags for their debate responses, we need to raise a few million bucks for the lifetime of intense therapy they’re going to need.

Trump was up 4.5  on gambling sites and betting markets before the debate.   He is now down 4.9.

They had 73 pages on the main thread this AM. I read 2 then skimmed a bit. Cliff Notes- Trump won and Harris has no substance.

No cat recipes.

Most of it is showing replies to responses. Their site makes my eyes bleed. The content makes my head hurt.

I watched the debate on fox (on sling so it was an easy way to pause and rewatch portions). I thought it was telling that the first thing Trump’s post-debate cheerleaders discussed, rather than the candidates or topics, was the moderators. How horrible they were. Aside from that being laughably false, there simply wasn’t any successful moment for Trump they were excited to bring up. I’ve watched Trump “debate” way too many times. I’ve thought he lost before, but he’s always had some moment where he landed an insult. Something fox could replay over and over. She pitched a no hit shutout.

I have to say, most of her reactions to Trump's insane ramblings were a lot more authentic than Hillary's

This was at a weak moment of the debate for Harris.  Harris was given a question asking about why some of her positions have changed from previous positions.  Harris said she would reply to all of the points in the question but she only replied to some of them.  I thought she gave a good answer tying her positions back to her values and examples of her work, but Trump had an opening to focus the discussion on Harris's changing positions.

Instead, he said this:

FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: She went out -- she went out in Minnesota and wanted to let criminals that killed people, that burned down Minneapolis, she went out and raised money to get them out of jail. She did things that nobody would ever think of. Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison. This is a radical left liberal that would do this. She wants to confiscate your guns and she will never allow fracking in Pennsylvania. If she won the election, fracking in Pennsylvania will end on day one. Just to finish one thing, so important in my opinion, so, I got the oil business going like nobody has ever done before. They took, when they took over, they got rid of it, started getting rid of it, and the prices were going up the roof. They immediately let these guys go to where they were. I would have been five times, four times, five times higher because you're talking about 3 1/2 years ago. They got it up to where I was because they had no choice. Because the prices of energy were quadrupling and doubling. You saw what happened to gasoline. So, they said let's go back to Trump. But if she won the election, the day after that election, they'll go back to destroying our country and oil will be dead, fossil fuel will be dead. We'll go back to windmills and we'll go back to solar, where they need a whole desert to get some energy to come out. You ever see a solar plant? By the way, I'm a big fan of solar. But they take 400, 500 acres of desert soil--

The last portion on energy policy is an amazing word salad.

Look, a politician is never going to answer every single question to everyone's liking.  Avoiding the question you don't really want to answer is like, politics 101.  In a debate format where you're given 1-2 minutes, you can't hit all the points.

And the moderators weren't giving her the extra time. Keeping it succinct with "my values haven't changed, but my experience has" is a perfect response, to me.  I think she has to emphasize that her experience within the executive branch has changed her opinions, but not her values, and it's important to be more in line with the American mainstream opinion on certain things (i.e., immigration mostly).

Americans' opinions and appetites change constantly - why can't a politician evolve?

“We can’t bust heads like we used to—but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don’t go anywhere like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So, I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel. And in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now, where were we? Oh, yeah! The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.”

Where did this Kamala come from? Wow... She was amazing! Poised and strong, fierce and thoughtful, a perfect balance. She destroyed him. Wow...

She was always there. She was just waiting for her moment. 2020 wasn't her time because no one wanted a cop at that moment with BLM.

My dude, it's the same Kamala she's always been.  She was made for this - she's a fucking prosecutor, she dealt with people of Trump's caliber in her entire career.

She won that 2020 VP debate handedly. She had very good moments in the 2019 primary debates (despite the one viral moment of Tulsi just spewing lies about her prosecutorial record).  People look back on those 2019 primary debates that had 10+ candidates and act like that was her norm - it's so easy to get ignored or drowned out against the likes of Biden, Bernie, Warren, etc. when you have share time with everyone.

Put her 1-on-1 with someone and she's going to destroy them.  She was a first time candidate going up against people like the 2009-2017 Vice President, the 2016 primary runner-up and people like Warren who had 2x her Senate experience.

I don't agree with all this, because I don't know any of the history with her, not really anyway.  I will say, I don't get it with her, I don't like her music, and I don't think it's remotely healthy we seem to have so many people extremely obsessed with this woman.  All that having been said, at the very minimum, she on the right side of this as far as I'm concerned and I appreciate her for that.  Generally speaking, taking a political stance is bad for business, so that sort of flies in the face of the idea she is single minded concerned with her own well being financially (by the way, that alone makes her absolutely nothing like Trump).

In this battle, we'll take all the help we can get.

She started in the music business as a teenager, and has worked her ass off for 20 years to get where she is...she writes her own music, writes and directs her own videos (as she's gotten older), and shes fought back against unfairness in the music industry. Every night of her concent is akin to a super bowl for the local economy (this isn't hyperbole, there's been articles written about it), and she contacts a local charity in each city and donates a protion of the proceeds. There are literally non profits who have employees who's job it is to try and solicit to be that charity for Taylor Swifts concert visits.

Her songwriting has gone from typical teen shit to actual smart, introspective shit for an adult. She's a billionaire, a real one, she doens't seem all that concerned about her finances. You can say it's not healthy for people being obsessed, but people were fucking obsessed with The Beetles, and with Elvis. Shes a great role model for women.

The whole "flip flopping" on issues thing. It's always a gotcha in politics, and I don't understand why people don't fucking respond with the obvious. "Why have  I changed my stance? Becuase I'm an intelligent leader and I change my opinions when I get new information. Do you prefer leaders who don't learn, and change with the times as is necessary?"

"When you were a senator in CA, you advocated for...." "Yeah, When I was a Senator in CA I was advocating for the views of my constituents. As the President of the United States, everyone is my contituent, and I have to govern for all people, not just the views of my poltical party."

I haven't seen anyone mention it, but watching in real time I thought she introduced herself to him in a "That's how you pronounce Kamala" kind of way.

I love her. She was my favorite in 2020. What we saw last night was the first female president of the United States start to take her place. It's over. Someone call 911, she just murdered him...

This is a pic I took from the Munich show. That’s 50,000 people picnicking on the hillside over looking the stadium. That’s not even the paying customers, and she made a point of having the people in the stadium do a cheer for the folks outside. It was awesome.

Also, if the media is *still* going to bitch about Harris not getting detailed enough on policy, with less than 60 days to go, shouldn't these networks be begging her to do a town hall? Give her 1.5-2 hours just to herself to answer your little policy questions, take questions from voters, etc.

A) Finally get them to shut up about it
B) Put up or shut up for those "undecided" voters who want to hear more policy from her
C) Give her solo time to talk - no Trump, no bullshit formats, no mic mutes or getting cut off by moderators, etc.

Maybe not 90, but do it for 60 then.

It is not her job to beg for a forum to talk policy - if they demand her to go into the fine print/details, then they need to ask her to come and do that.  Not try to pin her down in a shitty CNN interview that was spliced and diced into 40 minutes or a debate where they give her 2 minutes to talk and get cut off so Trump can ramble for 3 minutes.

Imagine watching Trump's performance and then confidently saying, "Yep, that's my guy."
