It's probably happening anyway.  Google obstruction softball and the internet is pretty much up in arms about it already.

What a bizarre game to finally crack the win column in the champ series as a program

But this team has won games in weird ways all year long

Hey, they did add the run rule back into the champ series bc of us

Some pretty damn one-sided umpiring and they still couldn’t take it from us. Fantastic performance, ladies

Better.

But do yourself a favor….

Why the hell did Najay NOT throw the ball to walk to the outside of the plate? That just doesn't make sense.... I'm glad she didn't and we hit it, but that was a bizarre strategy if your intent was to walk her.

Just roll 4 balls to home plate, not like Henry was going to steal home with 2 outs down a run.

I think someone said it earlier. She was probably worried about a passed ball/wild pitch.

Obstruction rule WILL be changed.

And in the 7th, that batter blocked the catcher from throwing to second. That shoulda ended the game.

4 errors.  bullshit umps.  facing the best pitcher on the planet.

and we still won.

Technically 3 errors because umps and if you want to get real technically 2 errors because of umps and @MirrOlure

How about that pass ball of her infield

Leave it to tceh to show up to the big game... and to lose it because the intentional walk pitch was a meatball down the middle

A big screen in the garage was the best money I've ever spent.
Watched the entire game while troubleshooting clutch issues.
I kinda resolved the issue right when the Longhorns kinda won the game.

Win win.  🤠 Hook'em, Lady Longhorns! Can't wait to watch you while ignoring the NBA finals tomorrow night.

You know the ump wanted to call at least one of those pitchouts a strike, because it was the same height and over the plate like one of the strikeouts he gave us.

To me it almost seemed like Canady didn’t agree with the decision to intentionally walk her so she was phoning it in. The 2nd pitch in particular was 100% a strike. I don’t think the ump knew what to do. Probably a good thing he didn’t call it a strike because that might have woken Canady up a little bit.

Long time lurker but wanted to say you guys have done a great job of keeping this thread going during the season. Am I wrong to think 2 runs in one of these next 2 games will win the championship? Texas Techs offense has only scored 2 total runs in 3 games against Texas this year and 1 of those runs came on the obstruction call. Maybe something random will happen but Tech doesn't feel capable of scoring runs.

I don't think the catcher really knew what to do.  on the first pitch she held her arm out but she can't just stand 2 feet outside the catcher has to start in the catchers area and then move outside.  I bet the catcher was worried about not getting outside fast enough.  Canady was firing high fastballs.

what needed to happen was for Canady to throw change ups 2 feet outside and high so the catcher can get there.

She looked done with it in the dugout. Coach didn’t trust her to get the out.

Does softball not have the automatic intentional walk rule? That shit was hilarious

No, they don't.

Baseball should get rid of it. This demonstrates why.

Mendoza going on and on about the rule needing to change, but the rulebook is clear.  If the runner would have clearly been out, in the judgement of the umpire, no obstruction is called.  It's akin to uncatchable on PI in football.  The rule is fine.  Umps are fucking idiots, as we saw over and over tonight.

Has anyone ever seen anything like that?

I think Canady forgot that when you intentionally walk a batter, you have to actually have to throw balls…not strikes!

Something that is underrated right now. Mike's call to have the runner steal second during the intentional walk. It would've been easy to just leave her at first...Reese is being walked anyway, what's the difference? But the fact that she stole second during the intentional walk means that she was able to score the go ahead run on Reese's "fuck your intentional walk" swing.

Tech was gonna give her that base, no way they throw down with Henry’s speed at 3rd. Teams routinely fuck up the double steal all the time.

I think she was pissed off they were asking her to walk someone and she couldn't commit herself to it.

She was fired up, and in her head she was probably saying, no way I'm giving in and lobbing four balls outside.  She couldn't commit to it.
