I could be way off but I think Landry gets hit pretty hard ha

It was very close to 6-7 runs today, then consider Texas knows her better and has the better lineup.

You know Gasso's going to have some plan for pitching to Joley. That's part of why we desperately need Henry and Atwood back in the flow offensively. Oh, and why are we still waiting on Cimusz to be unshackled? This team has better be ready to hit, because I seriously doubt 3 runs will be enough Saturday.

We will only have two issues on Saturday….

Score enough runs to win

Keep OU from scoring more than us

….something like that.

Weather delay for this evening’s games. Color me shocked! 🤣

I really don’t think this team can keep it up and UT has zero pressure imo.  If Mike can keep the team loose and not let his negative energy permeate throughout that team, UT puts up a lot of runs.  OU will fall just short.

Impressive. But I'd gladly trade every one of those seven WCWS opener wins for a single win in our closer.

Taylor normally is quite attractive, but she's looking a little rough tonight

this is funny listening these announcers try to create drama when Canady is up 1-0.  she's gonna have to pitch every inning.

Canady is really a one person wrecking crew.  Game fucking changer

You could give her to aggy and they probably couldnt even fuck that one up. lol

Same as with Pickens, I'd try to see how good they are at fielding bunts. Even if they know you're bunting, your odds of beating one out or getting on via an error might be better than swinging away vs. a dominant fireballer.

100%. Softball players arent known for their athleticism and excellent defensive skills. I would bunt my ass off against the likes of Pickens and Canady. You could get a few little league scores every game and that might be enough if you get a decent pitching outing from your starter.

Prior to Oklahoma's comeback, teams trailing by two or more runs entering the bottom of the seventh inning at the WCWS had been 2-120 since 2000, according to ESPN Research.

Well, looks like they won’t be pulling this crap again against us then.

Oregon and UCLA look pretty bad. Cant believe how weak the other side of the bracket is. If we beat OU, they will roll through these teams.

Texas was the only lower seed to win today. OU, UCLA, Tech and Texas move to Saturday

Tenn-FL and Oregon-OM tonight. 2 going home

You can’t walk the tying run into scoring position though…

The number of batters I'm walking in that situation I can count using 1 hand, but no way I give Parker a chance to beat me. Especially when she had a HR earlier.

I beg to differ just because I yelled it at the tv screen while they were discussing what to do...not loud enough, I guess.

Yep.

As much as everyone hates on reviewing the runner leaving early, that is pretty cut and dry.  Put the runner leaving next to the pitcher throwing and you can determine it easily

Obstruction is way too subjective and open to interpretation

It's not even revisionist, she's their best hitter and already hit a homerun earlier in the game. Why the fuck would you even pitch to her needing only 1 out and up 2 runs.

Texas lost to OU in the regular season, 6-7, 2-7, 8-9

TK game 1: 2.1 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 2K - the rest of the staff only allowed 1 ER the rest of the game
Landry game 1: 7 IP, 7 H, 6 R (2 ER), 3 BB, 5 K

Neither TK nor Landry pitched in game 2

TK game 3: 2 IP, 5 H, 8 ER, 4 BB, 2 K - Cam and Cit only gave up a single earned run in the other 4 innings
Landry did not start in game 3, but pitched in relief: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5K

This was the stretch of games where TK was not right, and the announcer team mentioned that last night - it was a mechanics issue that has been corrected. We will see if it has been truly corrected by Saturday or not.

Besides the obvious ability to locate her pitches, I think the mph differential between her rising fast ball and her change up needs to be ~20mph for her to be the 1.00 ERA pitcher she’s capable of being.

I think the easiest way to change it is if the runner is not in the process of sliding or within x distance of the bag(maybe 3 ft) then there cannot be obstruction.

I think she needs to do what she did yesterday - Trust your defense when you throw the drop ball so you can keep the pitches low, mix speeds with your changeup and change eye level for strikeouts with the rise ball.

Yesterday was by far her best pitching performance since Tennessee game 1 because she didn't try to be perfect and strike out 10 batters; she let her drop ball do the work and Mia/Goode were very excellent behind her.  And she fielded her position well several times.

I was in an airport bar yelling walk her at the TV. You don’t let the other teams best player beat you in that situation, especially with a freshman on deck. Losing 4-3 is no better than losing 5-3. Stupid move by Karen Weekly that wouldn’t have happened if Ralph was still coaching there.

Pickens is real good, sometimes great, but she isn’t on Cannady’s level as a pitcher. Pickens has a tendency to overthrow which flattens out her spin and makes her hittable. Canady has no hit stuff almost every outing. Swap them and Tech is exactly who they are now and Tennessee is on a rocket ship to the championship.

I was waiting for you to chime in on what a shitty coach Karen is.  It was so utterly predictable too.  I said it yesterday, only 3 batters in OU's lineup had WCWS experience, and the one prior to Parker hit a double. Don't let Parker beat you, make the freshman in the biggest AB of her career do it.

Not getting that run early by holding the runner, who then got thrown out at home a batter later.  Bases loaded twice, including the 6th with less than two outs, and not being able to get a ball in the air to get a run home.  Just shitty execution.

Tennessee had chance after chance after chance to put OU away.  Bad coaching decisions in the 2nd and the 7th lost them the game.

Also letting Parker face Pickens again ....

if you don't walk her, don't let Pickens face her.  Change her approach by putting in a different pitcher.

It worked for Tim Walton yesterday, when he started mixing and matching in just one inning to prevent further runs.

New pitcher, new approach, maybe Parker swings at something she wasn't planning for and grounds out or flies out.

Absolutely. The only reason I wasn't posting about walking Parker was that I was in a doctor's office and didn't see the final score until I got back to the car. Sickening to see it ended 4-3 OU, but I wasn't shocked by that result...only that Weekly let OU's best hitter beat them.

I don't know if it's just "we have won 4 championships in a row, even though 95% of those players are gone" or what, but Gasso has it DRILLED into their heads that they will win any game they play, regardless of score, inning or situation.  That's a unique mindset for a program that has matriculated the core of their four peat.

And even though the names have changed, teams seem intimidated by the Sooners. It seems they are always playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

This.  Teams think they have to be perfect to beat OU.

Not the OU of 2021-2024.  Very good, yes, but prone to mistakes and lapses.  You just gotta play your game and go beat them.

Here's hoping this team is very unhappy with the series sweep this season and wants to prove that isn't who they are.

TK’s best pitch has become the drop ball. She  gets hit hard when they rely on her rise and hunt K’s. Throw the drop and change and let your defense play.

Her drop has been a revelation and she gets another offseason to work with Mike on her developing changeup.

She's special.

For people that don’t know, Coach white’s drop ball carried him all over the globe as a fast pitch player. He is a great pitching coach.

softball coaches are funny.  it is win or go home and Florida doesn't start Rothrock but runs her to the bullpen in the first inning when the shit hits the fan.  If she's available at all you start her.
