If TK wins a title, she has to surpass Cat. Offenses (overall) are so much better than when Cat was pitching, so nobody will touch the ERA and strikeout numbers. But TK’s OKC performances outside of OU 2024 have been stellar and a title will surpass Cat’s legacy. Reese is a couple of HR away from the record at Texas. Best hitter Texas has ever had already

Framing could use a little work but it's hard for a catcher like her with the arm length she has to be great at it.
June 5Jun 5 2000s to early 2010s was an insane run of pitchers for college softball. Only 3 didn't play most of their career in the 2000s and Canion who last played in 2014 is the most recent.
June 5Jun 5 After last night, it's hard not to project the historic nature of this unlikely run toward a title. But I can't let my mind go there yet. Miles to go before we sleep.
June 5Jun 5 Watched the game on the flight back to Austin last night. Hell yeah! Oh, and the Tech runner was out. LETS GOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has to average over 300 per season as a junior and senior to hit 1,000 Just a different time now with more sophisticated offenses. Canady is a unicorn. And even she is only at 866 as a junior. But she got 3 years so far of offenses behind her that would make Cat annoyed

Fielding has got so much better you pitch for grounders more than you used to. The game is just completely different now compared to even 10 years ago with how much better overall the players are across the board. On the radio show I was listening to this morning they mentioned that with the current softball athlete it may be time to look at adjusting the infield dimensions a little to accommodate for the much better athlete, fielders, offense, etc.

As good as TK is, she doesn't seem to be as dominant as Cat was. Of course, that's wins, and Cat was seriously hampered by Connie Clark.

Catcher interference, umpire interference, bullshit blocking call at second base, illegal pitch, and creme de la creme, 2 RBI on an intentional walk attempt for the win. Best of all, Canady pretty much giving Tech the loss after all her dancing and screaming on the mound. Hook 'em indeed. The IBB that wasn't immediately brought to mind this memory from way back in the day. Yeah, I'm also old.

TK has an offense about 850,000x better behind her, which has helped her. While Cat was losing games 0-3, 0-1, 1-2, TK is winning those games 3-0, 1-0, 2-1, etc. 5 ER in 40.1 IP (5 CG) 0.87 ERA 30 K 5-1 record with 1 save All 5 of those ER came against OU, which was the last game she also didn't record a strikeout. We've talked about it - the advanced analytics (teams with 100+ HR are so common now), the speed of players, etc. has changed the game. And it brings the eyeballs. No one wants to go back to watching Cat Osterman and Monica Abbott strike out 30 batters and someone loses 1-0.

June 5Jun 5 Author Popular Post I credited Henry with getting on base last night (good things happen when Kayden gets on base), but Mia's 2-out, 2-strike bloop really set up the heroics - Got the tying run to 3rd, so an infield hit, error, WP or PB would tie the game, at a minimum Got Reese up to bat Forced Tech to let Mia take 2nd to avoid getting into a double steal fuckup and tying the game She's amazing - that bat and body control to just stop her barrel mid-swing and put it right over Canady's head into no-man's land on the infield - wow.

Absolutely. Mia will go down as one of the best and toughest ever to take the field at McCombs. She's saved us so many times, whether with her bat, her glove or her legs. To think she's doing all this with a torn ACL is stunning. Maybe she'll change her mind and play some pro ball, but even if not, she's an undisputed Longhorn legend. https://www.si.com/onsi/softball/injuries/texas-softball-mia-scott-reportedly-playing-with-torn-acl

June 5Jun 5 I'm new to this team and playing a little catch up on the main characters. I really like Mike White. He seems like he'd be a lot of fun to play for. If this season is any indication, with him at the helm, this program should be set up for a while. sweet, another feather in our cap
