November 20, 20187 yr refreshed thomas crown affair - early scene in which crown steals the monet off the wall. key element is walking out of the met with the briefcase undetected, as well as not destroying the painting by breaking it. at 1:58-2:00, clear such a thing was impossible and had he actually closed the case (would have been impossible anyway as the stretcher wouldn't have given that easy, the painting would have been destroyed.

Well on the vents thing remember he is getting "beaten" up...so the two things you really have to suspend is 1. December 17, 20187 yr In every Christmas movie where the plot is "Santa is real despite people not believing," wouldn't the fact that presents appear randomly under the tree every year, which nobody in the family bought, be pretty clear evidence? Why would anyone stop believing if the presents kept coming? Keeping in mind that if your naughty you still get coal delivered, not simply skipped over. Also, if Santa's elves make the toys, wouldn't a non-branded item be pretty clear evidence that it's not something just bought at the store? And on a related note, if you ask for something specific like an iPhone or a pair of sneakers (which would be branded) does Santa's elves make branded products?

December 18, 20187 yr This has been bothering me for a long time. In Lost, Widmore sends a freighter to find the island and take it over, exact revenge on Ben, or whatever bad thing he wanted to do. Ben puts a spy on the boat (Michael) along with a bomb for the purpose of blowing the boat up and thus neutralize the threat. Anyway, at some point Michael attempts to detonate the bomb but a little flag pops up that says “not yet” or something like that. Later, Michael confronts Ben and asks why he didn’t allow him to blow up the freighter, to which Ben answers “because we are not killers”. Except that they totally are killers. They got started by wiping out the whole dharma initiative, and they never hesitated to kill people who threatened the island. But now they are not killers? That doesn’t make any fucking sense.

April 12, 20196 yr The entire movie "Love Actually". My wife loves to watch it. I can't stand it beside the fact that it is a chick flick. So, so, so much wrong in this movie. First off, the four weeks until Christmas is like 3 months. Kid learns to play the drums proficiently in like a week, maybe 10 days. And the British Prime Minister can just go to some dodgy street with just his chauffeur and one cop car, and go door-to-door knocking on doors until he finds his fat little girlfriend? The black porn director is always everywhere all at once. The King's Speech fella learns to speak nearly proficient Portugese in about the same same 1 week to 10 day period as the little drummer boy learns to play the drums? And the Portugese girl does the same with English?

April 14, 20196 yr in wargames, wopr tries to crack the code to override the launch sequence. however, joshua cracks it in about 10-15 minutes. some of you math nerds can correct me if i'm wrong, but that means that there are (26^6)*(10^4) or over 3 trillion combinations/codes. even if joshua was guessing 10 combinations every second, it would have taken him about 10,000 years to guess the right launch code. i don't know what kind of power the department of defense had in 1983, but my 1 mhz 6502 apple ii could barely run stickybear bop without driving me crazy. oh, and this is surly, so... If you recall Joshua was simply finding each alpha-numeric value one at a time. So he was simply running 36 attempts(I do not recall if symbols were included) at each node which for a 10 digit code, would only mean 360 attempts vs trying to solve it at once which would be 36^10 or 3.6*10^15.
April 14, 20196 yr And don't assume he'd have to go through all the combinations before finding the correct one. Maybe he was lucky.

Does he just vaporize and everyone around him is like "what the fuck?" and new John appears in his place? Or does that whole world just cease to exist? Time travel stuff makes my head hurt. The original timeline the resistance won, sending a terminator back was a last ditch desperate effort by skynet to survive. The Terminator falls its mission but the part left behind enabled skynet to be ahead of schedule in the new timeline and is winning the war in T2.
