Yep the script was written. Then go into overtime and we get Manning-mode and instead of actually doing that just have Quinn toss up a few prayers and kick the FG and get out of there.
December 9, 20241 yr As long as we don't have SEC refs against Clemson I expect our run game to come back alive.

We are a better first week home game $$$ for the CFP too so they wanted that. I figured we would get Alabama in the first round I bet that was their idea too.
December 9, 20241 yr They need to revamp the replay system, including allowing one coach's challenge each game for penalties, either called or uncalled.Doesn't the CFL do it this way?

It was more of were the calls going both ways. Sark obviously felt holding wasn't. I didn't see any that really stood out, but we don't get all the replays/angles when the refs don't call them. I was there in the lower bowl. Georgia was getting away with a lot of holding on their edge runs (holds on Moore and Lole stand out particularly in my mind). I don't know if they showed it on TV, but there was one run Georgia had that gained maybe 10-12 yards where Moore was grabbed onto and prevented from closing the gap that was used. Sark was going absolutely nuts on the sideline. There was another later in the game where Sark went all the way down to the 10 yard line talking to the ref, who promptly shooed him back inside the box. Bottom line - I agree that the bigger issue was less the calls against Texas, but the different standards between what constituted a penalty against Texas and what constituted a penalty against Georgia. Wanna call Muhammed for PI for a tug on the shoulder? Fine, but call it both ways. Wanna call Hill for roughing on an ordinary football play? Fine, but call it against Georgia too. My dad, who lives on the East Coast, told me that on Sunday an Oregon fan approached him and said he couldn't believe how much the officials had it in for Texas. That is just a single anecdote, but I do think the double standard was blatant and obvious to most neutral observers.

The bad news is, we might get a Rig 12 crew...
December 9, 20241 yr We had a punt formation that did an entire or almost entire team shift, and the Georgia players jumped well offsides. They called a false start. Announcers said something about how the right guard was the one player who couldn’t move, and he moved. It didn’t explain wh that might be true, nor I believe showed a replay. I was lost on why a false start was called. That blew my mind too. Why the fuck couldn’t the right guard move? He wasn’t the deep snapper.

The good news is we won't have an SEC officiating crew for any more games this year. The bad news is, we might get a Rig 12 crew...In this new format, I wonder if coaches get to voice disapproval for Refs. We shouldn’t want Rig 12 Refs anywhere near DKR next Saturday because the following week is the Rig 12 Rep awaiting the winner. Clemson would be an easier path for ASU for sure.
December 9, 20241 yr I'm just wondering if the non-sec ref crews will let ol Kirby get away with his bullshit. My guess is probably so, unfortunately. But maybe he fucks around and finds out.

He’s nowhere close to Kirby Cry baby in that regard. That alone should tell us it was obvious and not being called. Even during some the obvious Rig jobs in the Rig 12 like the Kevin Mar crew calling zero penalties against Okie State a few years ago , Sark showed no anger much less a mention in passing.

They likely won’t get an ACC crew if they play Norte Dame because of the scheduling agreement with the ACC for football and the rest of the sports being ACC. Indiana? Maybe.

The problem was right guard had his outside leg back and when he shifted he went left-right-forward in a motion that was too quick and not controlled shift. Was just awkward
December 9, 20241 yr big10 officials fucked us vs. Washington last year But I donno as long as they call it somewhat even we should be just fine against SMU and fucking Arizona St. It's going to get real interesting against Oregon and ND 🙂
December 9, 20241 yr That really is the biggest thing. Call it tight, call it loose, it don’t make a shit. But call it the same both ways. Period.
December 9, 20241 yr Us against Clemson would've only either been Big 10 or Rig 12 officials, so I'm glad we got the former.

December 9, 20241 yr I mentioned yesterday that this was the worst non-call I saw Saturday: Well, I finally found a clip of what was probably a more ridiculous no-call: I guess the umpire missed the obvious holds by the Center and Left Tackle because he was too focused on trying to decide whether or not the Left Guard was holding. December 9, 20241 yr haha, you can see another UGA guy running down the sideline in the white after the officials. No call, no warning. In 2 screen caps, we now have 6 penalties for being where they weren't allowed. Fuck Kirby is flapping his arms into the field of play and the ref is staring right at it. How is this not rigged? Let the punter decide where to aim. On second thought, the punter would probably miss or not kick it that far.

Yes it should be flagged, but it never is. Also I feel you're pain, the Gata, in our heyday, was ALWAYS the most flagged team in the secsec by a long shot. It is not a singular thing, it is the entirety of the officiating that makes it rigged. Multiple times we have shown clear obvious fouls that are not even questionable, the same crew that could see a smidge of grass on that UGA player marking him inbounds, suddenly is blind when it comes to their coaching staff running all over the place. The two different applications of holding when it is happening right in front of the officials, the two different applications of roughing, the two different applications of PI were a significant game changer. Texas lost nearly 80 out of 250 yards in the first half due to penalties, so the game would be closer. With proper officiating the game would have been a blowout win for Texas. But since WRs for Texas were not allowed to block, it modifies how the game can be played. Texas simply wasn't prepared to play a rigged game. The Georgia offense couldn't do shit without ref-assisted or ref-ignored fuckery. A quick search has one ref fired from the NFL after screwing up and eliminating a team from the playoffs, and another has been suspended for screw ups in the SEC. Two more are Alabama Alum. One is a SCAR alum. Interpret that how you want.
December 10, 20241 yr A classic example is the hands to the face call. They couldn't see the holding next to it, but they saw that. Ironically if you look at one of the ones where they called holding on us, in the frame is a Georgia guy with his hand up under, I think, Goolsby's facemask just like that. Somehow they didn't see that one.
December 10, 20241 yr I haven't read the entire thread but seeing how many pages it grew, I'm glad to know it was as bad on TV as it looked from the stands. Doesn't excuse our failure to make winning plays (or fucking kicks) but there was no doubt in my mind that crew was doing everything they could to keep UGA in the game in the first half.
