Welp, sorry Quinn. I think I accidentally manifested this injury onto you. Hope it isn’t serious and you are back 100% against OU at the latest. Hopefully Mississippi State.
I was texting with a friend and we started asking the question- if Quinn could get hurt and miss the ULM game, with no repercussions further on into the year, would that be a good thing. Really- I was thinking more like running a 103 degree fever or something that went away after 24 or 48 hours.

We decided it wouldn’t be bad (we are throttling ULM with a surlyite playing QB) and it would give Arch real gametime reps to learn and grow with, and probably let Trey Owens get his feet wet.

Looks like that is going to happen. Let’s just hope and pray this is a one week thing and Quinn is back to make his run at the Heisman and 1/1 overall fully healthy as the schedule turns to October.
Quinn was awesome before he went out other than a bad throw where I suspect based upon body language and mannerisms he had no feeling in his thumb. He comes out and Arch comes in and scores TD’s on 2 out of his first 3 plays. Not bad.

ULM is a very bad football team. We are going to beat them by half a hundred regardless of who plays. Mississippi State is a bad football team- we will beat them by half a hundred if we play well, or 2 or 3 TD’s if we don’t. We are at the most boring part of the schedule right now where we basically have 4 byes between Michigan and OU. That’s important time to work on ourselves, get young guys reps, become a team that doesn’t fuck around and plays to a standard, and avoid injuries that will hurt you against tougher competition.

If Quinn is ok when October rolls around, Blue has his juice back Banks is fine (he came back in I’m sure he is) and we’ve gotten backups key reps to get them better than this part of the schedule will have done its job.

Game week stuff for ULM here. Hook em High like and eagle soars and maintain focusness. One time, 100 years ago I’m sure ULM kept it within 2 scores of some regional hegemon so Bill in Sinton would smell this threat out from a mile away.

Arch's first start certainly makes ULM more exciting that it would have been otherwise

In two games so far, ULM has ran the ball 89 times and thrown it just 31 times.

Hey kicked UAB’s ass running the same play over and over and over.

In the cosmic timeline, it simply just may be this is the way it was supposed to be.  Quinn can use his time to study film, and Arch doesn't just get his feet wet.  He can wade on in and start and finish a couple of games (taking Owens with him). In my book, you can never have enough experience.  I'd say I'm more worried about the RBs, but with a couple of cupcakes on the table I believe we'll be OK.  Still a nice time to be a TEXAS fan.

Protecting and preserving both the RB & QB positions in a gimme game is an actual challenge for Sark and The Horns.  Up by 21 early 2nd Q could mean going conservative that early or going to backups that early is on the table

Especially with a 12 team playoff and us playing potentially 15-16 games.  It’s a long season.

I fucking love this part of the schedule.  Give me 3 straight cupcake bitches and absolutely develop the fuck out of everyone.  That way when the shit hits the fan we have 85 dudes ready to plug and play at a moments notice.

I loved the all white package last night with the walk ons. Everyone eats. Everyone gets experience. If Quinn gets a bump week 8 we aren’t worried that our back up who hasn’t seen a snap is gonna doom us.   Same with our 4th and 5th string rbs and WRs.

Jesus, how can someone with an awesome name like that suck badly enough to land at ULM?

He did spend the last 2 years in Norman so he was trained in the way of the suck.

can't emphasize enough the majesty of having the instrument that can do this, and a coach that understands the imperative to do it

even when mack had the instrument, he would call off the dogs, and waste the opportunity for real reps deep down the roster

akers was the last coach we had that would use the weapon

forty+ fucking years

Not your best effort in the OP, but I'll allow it. @Wulaw Horn

It’s ULM. Coming off UTSA. Got to deal with the material you were given. He’ll- the game isn’t even on TV (espn 3+ or something like that) if people want to really bitch about something.

Excited to see more of what Gibson has at RB and as good a time as any to get Arch comfortable with his WRs.

That's an awesome photo of Hunter.

this would have been the lhn game, so instead our first game ranked #1 since mack it will be invisible on plus

My oldest son's first game in person was last year K State. Also with Quinn injured, and it was way too tense, although ultimately it was an exciting win.

My younger boy's first game will be this one. Likely another backup QB start, but I'm betting it goes a little better.

And now they're ranked #1. Pretty good first game for him.

Is it possible for the networks to move this game around? Texas at #1 and Arch Manning's first start seem like it would be too good for the sponsors to pass up

Doubtful. Lucky for us Galindo is on the call!

We are cutting work and school on Friday and I’m taking my 9 year old daughter to the indoor water park in round rock on Friday and then we will go some in the morning after check out- get to Bevo Blvd around 4 and her first game will be seeing #1 ranked Texas in person. Pretty cool.

Is ULM actually worse than UTSA? I find that a but hard to believe. UTSA was atrocious in event position except that one RB.

Yes most systems have them as a bit worse. It's just that they haven't played anyone as good as Texas State, let alone Texas.

SEC Network+ is complementary to SEC Network offering exclusive digital events. It is accessible with your TV provider credentials and is available via the ESPN APP on smartphones, tablets, connected streaming devices, or espn.com/watch.

Watching SEC College Football on [...] SEC Network+

supposedly this will also work for Texas baseball as well.

Arch’s first start happens to be as #1.

And the game is also listed as being on secn+.  Unsure if that is an alternate feed for secn that shows up when necessary or just means espn+.

Any chance this game may get moved to the actual ESPN or SEC Netowrk channel instead of the SECN+ or whatever it's on since this'll be Arch's first start and now being ranked #1?

They started last year 2-0 against bad teams and then finished 0-10.

Probably the same story here. They won't finish 0-10 but not bowl eligible is my guess.

I posted the numbers earlier with ULM running the ball basically 75% of time, which means they are probably just going to try and milk the clock between every play, limit possessions as best as possible, and get out as quick as they can.
