And Araujo scored on a corner, 2-1

Damn Atalanta just evened it.

This only matters to Atalanta, given the current situation they need a win to get into the top 8. Barca is already there with any result.

Looks like they equalized again. Yes, winning is going to be a problem tho

Michael Oliver is a travesty in any league

so City is gonna get either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich depending on the draw? and Celtic gets the other? two leg knockout round.

Watched the first five minutes as the plane boarded ... And then the onboard wifi wasn't working (fuck you Delta). Imagine my surprise when I landed at the halftime score!

Watching the second half at least made the stupid layover in ATL bearable... Somewhat.. not at all, but still.

Villa 4-2!

Weston McKennie with an absolute golazo.  dropped the hammer.

Great shot.  I am fully prepared to be disappointed by Juventus today, though.

Man City with a score on a penalty, now Brahim Díaz equalizing at 86 mins. It ain't over.

And Bellingham appears to have finished them off 3-2 at 92'

lol at ederson just throwing his hands up. That guy fucking sucks. I love it.

City are a mess. Spent £200m in January and started none of those players today. Midfield is washed; right back is tragic. And they still cheated 115 times.

Madrid doing this season on wings and a prayer.

75% of the defense is out for the season, going with the maybe we can outscore everyone in the last 10 minutes of a game

Cheating....well Madrid kinda sucks too so I don't know if cheating is necessary. This whole match was like ping pong.

They almost did it.  Almost...

Celtic offsides when punching one in at 30 seconds.

Celtic has good players, but can barely gain possession against Bayern. Quite easily dispossessed every time.  Just a different class of player at Bayern.

Guessing nobody started a thread about Europa League eh?

feyenoord won the precursor to the champion's league in 1970

in 91 the european cup added 2 playoff rounds before the group stage

in 94 the competition rebranded as the champion's league

+++

72 won 2 knockouts then lost to benfica 2-5 in the quarterfinals

92 beat the iceland champion home/away in round 1, lost to porto home/away in round 2, did not advance to group stage

98 grouped round 1

00 2nd in group round 1, advanced, 3rd place of 3 & out 2nd group stage

03 grouped round 1

18 grouped round 1

24 grouped round 1

this is the biggest result for feyenoord in 53 years

excellent

the carter-vickers/trusty pairing has a chance to advance

i've been rangers since reyna but poch has got to be thinking about anchoring them together next year

trusty heads clear a low flat shot with power

this is huge

this is celtic's 15th game in germany all-time and they have never won

So I’m lost again…

Now they’ll do a draw for the next round matchups?

Madrid shows Leverkusen/Atleti

So either we play our next manager Xabi Alonso or we play yet another Madrid darby

Yes

For some reason UEFA doesn't like deterministic seeding, so after the league phase they basically put everyone in a Schrodinger's position in a normal 1-24 bracket. 1-2, 3-4, all the way up to 23-24. After the League phase they drew the teams 9-24.

After the first KO phase they draw the last 8 teams.

I gotta say I love this new format because it resulted in some great seeding with some teams down that shouldn't have been (see PSG, Madrid, Bayern and Citeh).

i wasn't a big fan of the switch to the Swiss model but, i gotta say, i think it's been great.  that last day of group play with 18 matches going on was insane. and we're gonna get some sick matchups from here on out.  for the players, it probably sucks having to play more matches. but it's been great for fans.

Thanks, I still don’t fully get the model but I get the general idea now.

It definitely felt weird seeing the “group” play schedule but it did make Madrid have to figure it out in the last few matches.

Europa League madness.  3 stoppage times goals in Bodo/Glimt v. Twente.  all tied at 4-4 in aggregate. going to extra time.
