Idk. The original British version was damn good. And Australia is like a prison colony of England. So maybe it will be alright, mate.

that doesn't look good at all.  the american version worked because carell made michael scott his own and didn't try to imitate gervais's david brent.  that lady in the trailer acts like bizzaro world michael scott.  plus after how many seasons of the american office, that type of joke has run its course.  not to mention those types of jokes come across pretty cringy in modern society.  the casting where all the main players have switched genders is just odd.

They need Creed on the lam in Australia.

going to use this thread as a jumping off point to recommend the below show, also from Australia. Really great stuff and just renewed for a 2nd season. on paramount+

Colin from Accounts was really good.  Oz buddy told me if I liked it to also checkout Fisk.

To be fair it took Carell a little while to find the groove. First couple of eps he's doing a bad Brent.

He said he avoided watching the original so he wouldn't be imitating Gervais- picking up on his mannerisms and timing etc.  I think the first episode was an exact copy of one of the episodes from the British series' first season so in speaking with Merchant and Gervais about it some of David Brent's character might have come through.  He did a great job letting his vision of the character come through though.
