September 24, 20241 yr Media day and training camp starts next Monday at our beautiful new $70 million training center.
September 27, 20241 yr big season comoing up. several guys need to take a step forward this year and, at minimum, this team should be competing for a spot in the play in tournament.
September 30, 20241 yr They exceeded my expected win total by 4 games last year. They won't be able to improve by 19 games again this season but I would be stoked with a 48-34 record which should be on the play in tournament top seed or 6th seed skipping the play in tournament.

September 30, 20241 yr In my mind, he said, “Who wants to sex Mutumbo?” as he walked into whatever version of heaven he believed in. RIP, big man.
September 30, 20241 yr Still my favorite Mutombo Rockets moment was when Denver knocked off Seattle in 1994 as the #8 seed first time in NBA history that paved the way for us to run train on the Western Conference with impugnity.

October 2, 20241 yr No idea what to expect this season, honestly not too much unless we have some guys improve by a lot. Didn’t really add anything which isn’t always a bad thing but I’m beyond ready for a contender again. Maybe we move some guys at the deadline if we’re back to just treading water around the 9-12 spot and get something nice or more picks.

They are players who are kids, but basketball mature for their age. It could take Cam another year, because he's really a kid. If Jalen can just be consistent (LY good) that will be an improvement. Tari healthy will be a big improvement. Alp will be recovering.
October 5, 20241 yr First preseason game is against the Jazz. I hope this Clutch Fans LEGEND makes an appearance.
October 8, 20241 yr Rockets are gonna be a problem team for the league. Amen and Cam are gonna destroy bitches all season. I think they easily make the playoffs, may even upset someone 1st round
October 8, 20241 yr I know it's just the preseason but there is something satisfying about kicking Jazz teeth in in Salt Lake City no matter how little the game may mean.

October 8, 20241 yr First preseason game obviously...alot of guys having nice game....Jabari is not one of those guys
October 10, 20241 yr Uhhh...Jack McVeigh sends it to OT. Unfortunate last name doing work on OKC Rockets win

Castle is going to play a ton of minutes. If he’s just above league average he’ll have nice numbers.
October 11, 20241 yr Weird that Sheppard is a 3 point specialist and only took 1 three all game to Jalen green chucking up 9. I was expecting him to play off the ball and get some easy kick out looks. Hopefully they work that in more.

October 15, 20241 yr They see as a lead guard that can run a NBA offense. The future back court of the Rockets is Sheppard and Whitmore. Edited October 15, 20241 yr by HtownHorn
October 15, 20241 yr FVV replacement. Similar size. Better shooting better athleticism, less true PG skills. Fits if Thompson can keep developing as a 2 *trade green for KD when Suns fall out FVV/Reed Thompson/Cam Durant/Brooks Smith/Tari Alpi/Adams Edited October 15, 20241 yr by ChickenSandwich
October 15, 20241 yr Not sure if this needs its' own thread, but a new book about Dream came out today. https://www.amazon.com/dp/030683118X/?bestFormat=true&k=dream the life and legacy of hakeem olajuwon&ref_=nb_sb_ss_w_scx-ent-pd-bk-d_de_k0_1_12&crid=DP3B7NB1I2QW&sprefix=dream%3A hakeem An excerpt from the book: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2024/10/15/24267059/hakeem-olajuwon-dream-shake-book-excerpt-the-life-and-legacy The author was on Russillo's podcast too, talking about it. I am not that engaged with the recent Rockets teams, but I was 12-13 years old during those titles and he is my favorite athlete ever. He doesn't get the love he deserves. Super excited to read this one.
October 16, 20241 yr Granted it is the pre-season, but Adams going for 11 (8 def) rebounds in 15 minutes is exactly what this team didn't have last year. His ability to save defensive possessions by getting rebounds is going to make our defense even better this season.
October 16, 20241 yr 6 hours ago, Rockethorn1978 said: Also just pre season but Jabari has been uhhh underwhelming to say the least. You called? Definitely don't see him as one of the top 100 but whateves Other Rockets No top 50 players

October 17, 20241 yr Watched them for first time last night. Rockets looked good. Core of youngsters look stronger and more cohesive going forward. My boi Sengun looks healthy. Green "seems" at least "seems" to have settled in. Not hunting every damn shot he can find but maturing in the sense that he has the green light but taking great shots created within the offense, cause theyre there (namely due to the constant doubling folks are running at Sengun [i mean almost all the way out to the 3pt line] & Steven Adams picks. He's just a huge human and when u come off his picks you got all the room in the world). "Cocaine Curry" is gonna run the 2nd unit. Kid's hops and quick release are gonna allow him to get his shot up consistently (especially in that mid-elbow/range). When he gets to his spot lil dude is lethal! If they can improve defensively (which a healthy Tari Eason & Adams should help) i can see that win total going from 41 to 47/48. Not sure where that puts them in the loaded western conference playoff picture but curious to see

I’m a Green hater because inefficient basketball makes me want to vomit, but he was on fire last night and super, super efficient. Basically all his shots were from 3, he was hitting better than 50% of them, and he picked up four shooting fouls and hit 7 of 8 three throws, scoring 30 on 16 shots with zero turnovers. If he can do 80% of that consistently he’s going to be worth a max deal. He‘s worse defensively, but offensively that’s prime Ray Allen.
October 18, 20241 yr Lots of talk about Whitmore having bad body language and sulking last night Won't shock me if he and Tari are shipped out mid season Edited October 18, 20241 yr by ChickenSandwich
October 19, 20241 yr Potential rockets second unit (assuming no staggering) PG- Reed Sheppard SH- Cam Whitmore SF- Amen Thompson PF- Tari Eason C- Steven Adams That’s a fun team to watch
October 19, 20241 yr Worried the Rockets made a mistake with Reed over Knenect. What a fit his size and scoring would have been on this roster.

October 19, 20241 yr Cant keep all of the young players. With all of his injuries and the current lineup, he feels like the odd man out.

October 19, 20241 yr Tari sticking depends on the development of Thompson and Smith. Eventually you want those 2 guys playing the wings with Sengun. Eason will eventually want a bigger role in the offense.
October 19, 20241 yr I don’t see Tari really having any trade value. I don’t know why you move him unless you need the roster spot.
