Gonna be some serious teeth gnashing if a true SG is needed... teams aren't going to want junk. they're going to want Tari, Tate, DFS... unless the junk is expiring contracts that give flexibility for moves late in the season or after.

Rockets are capped for now... and still need to extend Tari to keep him from hitting that measley qualifying offer of $8M that many teams will easily offer double and some crazy team may put a poison pill offer out there (like the 76ers GM).

Teams can't poison pill a contract any more, and the value of the APY is what's tallied in a trade now. Also, most teams are running with zero cap space, so the few that do have space would be tying up 15-20m in free agent money to Tari, while the Rockets can easily match it after several days. Kuminga didn't even get a free agent offer as an RFA this offseason because of it. Best to sign a 1 year QO and hit the market as a free agent to maximize money, unless the team is willing to give you a big long term deal.

I think it's great for the Rockets to have that flexibility and see what he can do this year.

He's also the 3rd true guard on the roster. I think he's getting more run than the stay ready crew.

I don't know what that means. Okogie can't handle the ball or create offense or shoot.

Were there not better, ring-chasing veterans that can hit 3's willing to sign low dollar contracts than the scrap heap guys we signed with the last of our money?

It means he's the NBA version of Chendall Weaver. He's also 26 and gotten better offensively almost every season in the NBA and played his best offensive basketball with Kevin Durant sharing the court with him. He also adds near elite level defense at the guard position. Considering Ime's love of defense over everything else, he's going to be in the rotation.

There are no minutes available. Players also want to play.

These end of bench additions IMO are the plan B if we need to make a trade before the deadline. Tari would be the most likely piece gone and these cheap wing defenders help to replace Tari’s defensive loss.

Check out this picture of Ime Udoka and Alperen Sengun in Turkey! They’re with Ertan Bedir, who trains Sengun in Istanbul. The @HoustonRockets also sent three player development coaches to Turkey to work with Sengun for the second summer in a row.

Making KD live through ring night in the city that he bailed on to go win at Golden State is just a fantastic manufactured storyline.

Yawn. Neither him nor the team would have wanted him on the team for the OKC slog of the last several years

Sam Quinn of CBS Sports ranked the value of the 63 future first-round picks in the NBA that have been tradedAmong those picks, three of the top seven belong to the Rockets:7. A 2027 swap with the Nets5. A 2027 first from the Suns3. A 2029 swap with the SunsLove to see it🚀

50/50 odds that he'll be "injured" and doesn't even make the trip.

It's petty, though.  So fucking petty and I love it.

Don't kid yourself.  Durant cares, too.  He's spent all day on Twitter arguing about it.  (Yes, Durant still argues on Twitter with dudes living in their parents basement.)

Durant was right.  He couldn't win a title in OKC.

Shai could, though.

do it kd !

Kevin Durant could reportedly sign a two-year, $100 million contract extension with the Rockets, per @basketballtalk If signed, Durant’s deal would be $20 million less than the max extension, giving Houston more cap flexibility

Rafael is the best in the NBA in negotiating contracts if he pulls that off. He has earned the top 5 GM ranking that CBS Sports gave him.

Because Presti fucked the team up when Durant was there.

The first home game the following year is always when they do the ring/banner presentation afaik. And Durant has two rings anyway so idk how this could in any way be construed as petty.

I know Tillman has a lot of money, but hiring stupid fucking Blippi to promote the new season is not how you should spend "fuck you money."

#3186
Josh Okogie might not play much for the Rockets this season, but he’s been elite at Eurobasket so far Having a guy at the end of your bench who can drop 33 points in only 24 minutes for his country is a luxury most teams don’t have

#3187

he gone ...

While the Rockets have 48 hours to match Atlanta’s offer for N'Faly Dante, Houston would have to go over the hard cap to sign him, making it very unlikely he stays a Rocket https://t.co/E5KGOBahjy

Blippi would have been 10x better than whoever that chucklefuck was.

The Rockets have had “positive communication” on a possible Tari Eason extension, per @KellyIko Houston hopes to finalize the extension “sooner rather than later,” but it’s more likely that it may “drag out” until closer to the start of the 2025-26 season

#3194
The Rockets and Kevin Durant have had discussions about a new contract, and “there is belief they will come to terms,” per @WindhorstESPNWho’s extension will be agreed to first? KD’s? Or Tari Eason’s?The order they come in could have major implications on Houston’s cap space

The DFS signing has already spread discontent on the Lakers. Luka loses his running mate. LeBron gets pissed because they let a well liked veteran leave for nothing and replaced with a young player. That alone is worth is a few million dollars.

The Rockets have one open roster spot left, with Malik Beasley a potential target to fill it, per @HOURocketsSI"While Beasley may not be a top priority for Houston at the moment, he'd be an under-the-radar addition to add real offensive depth for a deep playoff run."Thoughts?
