Sooooo, I’m in the Amsterdam Airport and ran into this tall dude sporting Rockets gear.  I introduced myself and he said his name was Clint.  Man, he was as nice and gracious as he could be.  I told h

Neither Green or Sengun have max contract offers. This isn't surprising because the last player to get a max off a rookie deal was Bam Adebayo in 2020. Today is the deadline to sign an extension is today.

Looks more and more that the Rockets will let both become restricted FAs after this season.

Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green has agreed to a three-year, $106 million rookie contract extension, CAA’s Aaron Mintz, Andrew Morrison and Shakira Wardally told me and @BobbyMarks42. Player option in third season, providing ability to increase Green’s career earning potential.

The Green extension is unprecedented for multiple reasons: 1. Player option in year 3Teams have gotten away from putting player options in rookie extensions. The last time a rookie extension had a PO and salary of $30M+ was Luka Doncic and Trae Young. 2. The ability to… https://t.co/s6HwsXI6wo

This is a fair deal. $35 million AAV instead of the max of $45 million. Essentially a 2 year deal with the 3rd year player option that he’ll most likely void, so the risk is minor and the size and length of the contract is easy to trade.

Something like this was already on the table for both guys, wasn't it?  Looks like Green blinked and Sengun is betting on himself.

Houston center Alperen Sengun has agreed on a five-year, $185 million rookie extension, his agents Sean Kennedy and Jeff Schwartz of @excelbasketball, tells ESPN. The contract includes a player option in the last year.

Rafael Stone has fucking cooked!!

Rockets officials successfully submitted Şengün’s extension agreement to the league office at the buzzer, sources said. In 2024-25, Şengün will earn around $34 million, with increases in Year 2,3,4 and 5. There are no incentives in the deal. https://t.co/ETF03HaK5Y

So did we make a similar offer to Green and he chose or shorter deal or does the team simply have more faith in Alpi?  If so will Green sulk?

I get the feeling Green and his reps wanted a shorter deal to "maximize" his earning window. I am happy both guys got what they apparently wanted and this isn't an issue this season. Both contracts not being max's is big for the Rockets.

I hope it works out with both guys because they gave the Rockets massive savings when they could have played out the season and gotten a max offer from another team that the Rockets would have had to match. I think both guys really want to be Rockets, good for them.

I don't think I would sulk if offered a $106 Million.

If Green didn’t like it he could have just played out his rookie contract and go into restricted free agency.  This is a compromise option between getting some security.  If he has a good year the Rockets will want to max out an extension.  If it’s not heading that direction then it’s probable the Rockets will want to move him.

I'm surprised by both of those deals, but I guess it makes sense if there is a discount. I thought they were holding cap space to try and make a splash signing or trade, and then use the RFA match to go way over the cap, but I guess not. Happy to have Alpi for forever, and kinda meh on the thought of Green for 2 more years. Maybe he gets traded, or maybe he gets his shit together and becomes a perennial all-star. A man can dream.

Lulz, Jalen Green has supposedly grown 2" in this off-season. He was just announced as 6'6" during the intros.

#76

Disappointing, it looks like Adams is hurt. He wasn't out there during intros, and Landale was the 1st big off the bench.

Jalen and Şengün earning the bags they just got. Amen has taken a step forward. Jabari is the only guy who is disappointing so far. The depth of this team is sick. Ime is doing a good job of mixing the rotation.

I still don't understand how when you fall down on your own you maintain your pivot foot? That used to be an automatic traveling.

Those 3 are 15-29, 6-7, 7-7 so the rest of the team is 7-24, 1-10, 0-0.

And just like that, Green bricks 3 wide open 3's.

Still can't shoot and get no calls from the officials. Sengun is getting hammered down low and has only shot 3 FTs.

Whitmore with a +10 in his 7 1st half minutes, 0 2nd half minutes, he must have been making Green look bad.

I think the +/- stat is worthless. Brooks leads the team at +19 yet has a terrible stat line.

and there he was forcing a big TO on Lamelo Ball.

Green's stat line is 2 REBS, 0 ASTS, 0 STLS, 0 BLKS, -6; that is terrible.

If we miss play-in or are in playin by one game we can look back to this home game against a shitty team. The West is going to be too tight for losses like these.

#93

Went to that amazing choke job.  jfc someone get a rebound other than Sengun.

It's time to start considering the coaching is bad. I like Ime, but he had the perfect roster in Boston for his style of coaching and play. He doesn't have two elite guys here that can score efficiently like Brown and Tatum.

His rotations in the 2nd half were awful, he panicked when Green started chucking up bricks and tried to go small and the Hornets ripped us a new asshole because no one outside Sengun could get a rebound.

Wish we could have swapped D Mitchell for Green, he would be a perfect fit for this roster as is

We'd also want to replace Van Vleet since Mitchell and Van Vleet are small guards that would play on ball.
