They will absolutely come to a lower AAV deal. Nobody is going to offer FVV $45M AAV. 3/100 gets it done.

It's a matter of how much, since I doubt anyone else is going to offer him 30m+ a year. I heard 3 years ~90m thrown around, which I think is fair for him, but if he can help structure it a little lower to start, it really opens up the trade options by dropping under the 1st apron. Also, the team can't go into the 2nd apron in this kind of trade, and I doubt management would want to do that anyways. If he helps make this happen for the least impactful amount of assets going out, it will be a huge help to the team and really show how committed Fred is to winning with the Rockets. I really hope we see that happen!
June 21Jun 21 If they can knock FVV down to the 3 years $75 million that’s good for the team, a very tradeable contract, and frankly around what he deserves. My concern is they give him 3 for $90 million and he’s radioactive until 2028.Â
June 21Jun 21 Game theory guys assumed the 3/90 would be front loaded and go down each year  *and the leaked trade offer is most likely missing Dylan Brooks contract.  Young player (#10)  Tradable asset - Green Immediate rotation piece- Brooks (on short term $20 per yr) Edited June 21Jun 21 by ChickenSandwich

The newest episode of Game Theory pretty much said Jabari or bust. That would be not great given his defensive metrics. I think Ishbia is a stubborn dumb fuck and he runs it back with KD yet again. The guy has gone on and on about not wanting to tank. Going so far as to basically call Game Theory and their listeners GM nerds. Meanwhile, his best player Booker has said he doesn’t want to be on a rebuilding team. Ishbia might need to need to keep KD or get an overwhelming package back  to keep Booker happy.  I think they’d accept the Twolves thirsty offer of Gobert, Dillingham, and the other the 17th pick. But KD has made it clear he won’t resign there. He’s a lot like us. He’s just trying to get home to Austin.Â
June 21Jun 21 If I was Minnesota I would do that deal just to get rid of Gobert's contract and extend Reid and make him the starter.
June 21Jun 21 Minny can take green from the Suns and send back Rudy.  Twolves would be a good landing spot for Green.Â

If they don’t come to an agreement, Houston will decline the option. This is an offseason without many spenders and he may be lucky to get a deal at $20m AAV.Â

But… FVV is Ime’s guy, so both sides are probably looking for something mutually beneficial.
June 21Jun 21 Because this thread is a safe place, I’ll say it here. San Antonio is being overly cute if the price for KD is just Vassell, Barnes, and the 14th pick. Barnes plays the same position and Vassell’s numbers only look good because he got a shit ton more shots after Wemby went down. 14 is a rounding error in their current pick portfolio. They’re going to need KD’s scoring punch when Wemby inevitably goes out with one of extremely tall person injuries I can understand the Rockets protecting Jabari. He’s a plus defender and quietly became their best 3 point shooter. One of the few positives from the GSW series. The Rockets could really use KD’s bucket getting ability, but I’m not sure he’s worth Jabari’s upside at 22.Â
June 22Jun 22 The Suns are waiting for a team to flinch and throw in more stuff. They want someone to get desperate and overpay, or just wait for the deadline when another team or two enters the bidding.Â

SA and Houston are hardballing Phoenix, as they should. Jalen (based on potential and being former #2 pick with flashes of scoring prowess) and #10 pick is probably fair, with the winner of the trade being mainly determined by KD's health. That offer is still better than what SA is offering, and anything more than that could end up being a terrible trade for Houston. SA has been so damn lucky with the lottery they can afford to pay a little more and still have good short term and long term outlook.
June 22Jun 22 if the Suns want a pick in this year's draft as part of the return for KD, you'd think a trade would be agreed to within the next day or so...

June 22Jun 22 Literally the perfect trade. Replace Green's scoring with KD, Brooks' defensive capabilities were already surpassed by Amen and Eason. 5 second round picks, lol. We are loaded and now have a go-to scorer with playoff experience to take this team to the next level. FUCKING A. Â
June 22Jun 22 BREAKING: The Phoenix Suns are trading two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.
June 22Jun 22 The fact they were able to hang on to all their young talent is amazing. That's a deep fucking team.

June 22Jun 22 It's a great trade and great place for KD. The Suns are the absolute worst (outside of Nico).
June 22Jun 22 Similar to retrospectively analyzing the Deshaun Watson trade, I took a peek at the James Harden trade to see how it stands today: Rockets received: 2021 pick swap - Not utilized 2022 #17 pick - Tari Eason 2022 Miami pick swap for Oladipo - Not utilized 2023 pick swap - Not utilized 2024 #3 pick - Reed Sheppard 2025 pick swap - traded back to Nets 2026 FRP - traded back to Nets From second Nets trade: 2025 Suns pick swap (#10) - traded back to Suns 2027 Suns FRP 2029 pick swap with best of Suns/Mavs So the net transaction thus far is: James Harden, Jalen Green, and Dillon Brooks, for Tari Eason, Reed Sheppard, KD, 2027 Suns pick, 2029 swap with Suns or Mavs
