September 25, 20241 yr Wonder if he’s any good. Bailing on your team after 3 games won’t make it easier to find a new program.
September 25, 20241 yr Wow. UNLV is actually good, this has been their best start to a season in forever. Were legit contenders for the G5 playoff spot.

September 25, 20241 yr Popular Post He’s got a 44% completion rate and had less than 90 yards passing in the two games they played against teams with a pulse (Kansas and Houston). Brent Venables, please pick up the white courtesy phone.
September 25, 20241 yr lol with the vagueness. if you're going to make an accusation, and there are no legal repercussion against it, just fucking lay out the charges. # pls respect my decision
September 25, 20241 yr Quote based on certain representatives that were made to me I assume he will major in English literature wherever he transfers.

September 25, 20241 yr Per the UNLV $9.95s, he asked for an additional $300k and didn’t get it. Spoiler UNLV insider Joe Arrigo is currently live on a Twitter space. He says Sluka went into Coach Odom’s office on Monday and said he needed $300k to stay. Odom said that was not happening and Sluka cleared out his locker. Sluka skipped practice on Tuesday and posted his intention to leave that night. Arrigo believes Sluka got an NIL agent after the Kansas game who got into Sluka’s ear about making more NIL money. The re may or may not be another school involved, but the timing of this implies that this is a play to try to strong arm UNLV into a payday now.
September 25, 20241 yr Popular Post narrator: he did not, in fact, hope for the continued success of the program. he rather didn't care about the program at all.
September 25, 20241 yr Popular Post Fact is, both parties have reason to lie about the cause of this so I’ll choose not to believe anyone. Mostly, because I don’t give a fuck about either side.
September 25, 20241 yr My guess is he won't be the last. Assuming he's telling the truth I'm guessing there are plenty other players who were told one thing but are getting another regarding NIL.

September 25, 20241 yr He has one year of eligibility and will not be a draft prospect. Get that money while you can. I do hope he is being honest here too, bc asking someone for $300k they don't have without a deal in place would be bad and that money would be hard to find elsewhere in a crowded portal. Good luck to him.

September 25, 20241 yr 2 minutes ago, Dennis Taylor said: Apparently he wasn't. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. If they promised and didn't pay, time for negotiation hardball. If they promised and didn't pay at 3-0, this would be a good hand to play. May force them to pay, May allow you to get paid elsewhere.
September 25, 20241 yr Popular Post This is a bitch move straight up. NIL has nothing to do with playing and this completely unacceptable horseshit. He is playing college football not professional. There is no way anyone takes this loser in the portal after quitting on his team. He obviously doesn't give a shit about football.
September 25, 20241 yr Then why are we paying all these kids if it doesn't have anything to do with playing? Stop payments now. If he was promised and not receiving then not horseshit. If he asked for more, then yeah horseshit. Someone else would take him just to be able to say UNLV lies to their players and doesn't actually pay the NIL they promise, even if that's false. If he can show I was promised X but they didn't deliver, teams would take him (or another like him) NIL has shown players like football but like money more, nothing else.
September 25, 20241 yr There is nowhere in any NIL deal that says playing football is any part of the deal, because that's not what NIL is. Texas doesn't have these situations because they aren't broke dick shitheads who don't out signed contracts. The quid pro quo also has nothing to do with football in any of these instances. So yeah if you get 50k per appearance and have made 3 and not been paid according to contract by all means bail on the contract. That has nothing to do with your football team.

This is not negotiation, it's straight-out extortion and I suspect that's illegal, even in Nevada. But let's talk about the real victims here--the folks who took UNLV on Monday and laid the 3 points . . .

Exactly (the first part) If someone breached a legitimate business agreement then sue the bastards. As for the last part…you overestimate the decision-making ability in College Football. I mean, Hugh Freeze, Jeff Lebby and Bill Napier are all Head Coaches in the best conference EVAHHHHHH!
September 25, 20241 yr Popular Post Maybe this situation ends up as an outlier, but my instincts are always to support the worker over the money/institutions.
September 25, 20241 yr This is not rocket surgery, people. If there was a promise to pay which was not fulfilled, it’s breach of contract. There are plenty of plaintiffs lawyers who will take a contingency case on for a 300k case. Sooner or later one of these athletes will sue a booster or even a school for breach of contract. That’ll be fun.

September 25, 20241 yr Well, I'd like to hear his side of it, but if it's close to the UNLV story he can get fucked. Also, his teammates must absolutely hate him right now, this is an incredible season by Running Rebel standards.
September 25, 20241 yr The framework and path forward for pay to play is set starting next year with the university entering into direct agreements with players themselves etc. What did UNLV do here? Nothing. What did his team and coaches do wrong? Nothing. So this guy bails on his previous commitments to them because of another deal that didn't work out. Next season if UNLV said it was XXX for your NIL and bla bla bla then they didn't pay him then yeah fuck that and put their shit on blast. This is bad for every single person involved.

The OL at Ole Miss isn’t getting paid $300k because that’s the value they bring cutting a ribbon at the local Jiffy Lube.

That has nothing to do with obligations to the team after committing and enrolling in school. If this dude quit the team they should nuke his scholarship too. Enticement is also obviously very against the current rules and laws.
