He's such a baby-back bitch off the court. Lakers are surprisingly 10-4, and he's crying about his fee-fees. This development should be celebrated, except we all know it will be short-lived.

He's gonna "take a break" and then announce a partnership with some new-ish social media platform. Book it.

I’m not sure how the pelicans are even fielding a team at this point. I thought Memphis last year was the worst injury bug team I’d ever seen, but this might be worse.

Haha Memphis’ season was derailed with the gun issues from the get go but Clarkes late acl and adams opting to not get surgery coming back to bite him kicked it off.

Zion was always going to get hurt. Idk about the other key players. None of them are winning impactful cornerstones so.

Other than Ingram it's their entire starting lineup out right now.

He missed too. Their top 9 players were out last night. Not sure why Theis got the night off but I’ve never seen anything like it.

Didn’t need him going off for a 60 pt then demanding money

New Orleans really should blow it up at this point.  They're solid from a future draft pick perspective.  There has to be a team out there dumb enough to trade for Zion.  Trade him for players and/or picks and just start over.

I thought whomever upthread asked "how did they field a lineup" was being hyperbolic but now I see he meant that literally.  Wonder if Willie Green thought about suiting up, he's only a few years older than Lebron.

I think that same logic applies to about 10 teams in the west. The pels are good  with Murray, CJ, Ingram, Zion, herb jones, Trey Murphy, and the bench. Still probably in the bottom 5 in the west, but would potentially host a series in the East. The West is just so deep and they have the rockets, thunder, and spurs with all the picks coming up. So it’s just going to get tougher.

yeah rudy is not happy with the addition of randle, it’s thrown his game all out of wack. such an odd, unnecessary trade that was.

there was a play about 4 min before this when it unraveled that rudy was backing down Scottie Barnes  and was under the hoop. the ball was 30 ft away and Rudy was calling for it. well the wolves know rudy cant catch anything that isn't a lob so rudy didn't get the ball and walked to the other side of the lane getting called for 3 second violation in the process. ant bitched him out for being an idiot. it would've taken an obvious rocket pass that would've likely deflected off of his hands into torontos defense.

Rudy Gobert being a giant bitch to his teammates because they refuse to ignore his shittastic offensive skill set is what I've been missing.

Went and looked at their lineup.  I remember watching Jeremiah Robinson Earl at OKC and thinking he wasn't an NBA player.  OKC agreed and waived him.  NO roster is so bad he's not only starting but playing 35 minutes.

Lmao seriously. Who the fuck does he think he is? Oh sorry didn't know you turned into Kevin McHale down there bro. When the Minnesota Timberwolves really need a bucket, go to that patented Rudy Gobert post up. Always a winning play.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck the Lakers.

this has been way too quiet:

if the kings were the kicks sabonis and fox would be superstars.

?

They're 8-7 and unless I'm missing something have never won a playoff series.

I've seen the Fox stuff highlighted a couple places fwiw.

109 points in ~24 hours is pretty cool. Wonder what the record is.

Kobe had 110 combined in back to back games in 2007

Succinct breakdown of the contract situation of Ty Jerome, whose contract is up at the end of the year.  He keeps playing like this the rest of the year the Cavs may get Hartenstein'd.

Watching the Texas game, loved this blurb on the ESPN crawl:

"Celtics struggle from 3 but hand Wizards 10th straight loss"

"Burmese Python has off-day - still handles disoriented mouse placed in enclosure"

Not "24 hours" but knew before I looked it up that Harden would have some fun ones.

2018-2019 season:

1/14 - 57

1/16 - 58

1/19 - 48

1/21 - 37

1/23 - 61

then:

3/20 - 57

3/22 - 61

So that's 118 in b2b games (with a day in-between).

2019-2020 season:

11/30 - 50

12/03 - 60

(b2b games)

12/11 - 55

12/13 - 54

God damn that's a tough fucking bucket from Marshall.

Zion easily makes the All-Time starting 5 for Easiest Guys to Predict Would Check Out as Soon as They Got Paid.

Ben Simmons

Jordan Poole

Zion

Hassan Whiteside

Andrew Bynum

I did have Deron Williams, but he was at least a little surprising how fat and terrible he got once he signed his contract.

The Cavs stay in the top spot despite the loss to the #2 Celtics. The Thunder fall slightly with the loss of Chet. The Rockets and Magic surge up the charts with the Suns and the T-Wolves falling out.

On the player side, Durant and Chet fall out due to injury.  Hield cooled off a little, giving way to Giannis, Lebron, and Fox.  Jokic still on pace for top 5 season of all time. Wemby is lurking...

jokic really slacking on ppg and ast. fool needs to get his ass in gear. those numbers are embarrassing.

Jokic has the same lead in Box Score Plus Minus over #2 Shai, as Shai has to Daniel Gafford.

Still very early but it sure does look like Minnesota fucked themselves over with the KAT trade.

Now below .500, Donte has stunk, Randle is a jag (and if the Wolves make the playoffs, he'll be even worse in those playoffs just as he's always been throughout his career), and KAT is putting up insane numbers with the Knicks.

They'll be fine. Gobert is still there.

i dont think anybody anticipated Donte to be this fucking bad. He's putrid. Like if hes average or slightly below average, the Wolves probably have 5 more wins.

Dillingham was fucking awesome though.

Maybe a hot take but I think Phoenix is better when Durant plays.

The Wolves didn't trade KAT because they were enamored with Julius Randle's basketball skills. They traded KAT for cap flexibility. Gotta think they've got another move coming in the next 12 months. But, yeah, the short term impact has been less than ideal.

Gobert opted out and extended, so they got out of their cap hell for now. But they still should have never traded for him in the first place. Forget the assets they sent out, they essentially had to choose between him and Towns to avoid the second apron penalties.

It's almost like you're suggesting that planning to commit $100M/year to two centers was a bad idea.

Because KAT is such a great outside shooter, it sort of made sense on a basketball court. It's not like he's your prototypical back to the basket, throw it into the post, get me a bucket traditional big. But let's look at the tale of the tape for what they gave up, and what they got back altogether:

IN: Gobert, Divencenzo, Julius Randle, and a heavily protected (the best it could ever be is #10) first round pick via the Pistons that may not ever convey.
OUT: Towns, Walker Kessler, Pat Bev, Malik Beasley, Jared Vanderbilt, Keyonte George (via pick), 2025 unprotected first, 2026 swap, 2027 unprotected first, and 2029 top 5 protected first.

They managed to give up the best player by far AND a giant chunk of their future. If that weren't bad enough, they also have a 32 year old Rudy Gobert (who seems to be declining so far this season) on the books for the next three years at ~$36.5 million per. Woof.

They've done such a good job building their roster with unheralded guys like Reid, NAW, and McDaniels that it hasn't killed them yet. But holy shit if Anthony Edwards ever gets hurt or decides he doesn't want to live in Minnesota.

It's almost like you're suggesting that planning to commit $100M/year to two centers was a bad idea.
Under the old cap rules, it could work. Under the new cap rules, it doesn't.

The new cap rules have been very hard on top teams put together under the old rules.
