About 2 of those guys can be traded along with this pick for Giannis and maybe some of the future 1st

May 13May 13 Yeah I don't think I was properly excited because the Dallas thing was so shocking. My first instinct was to trade it but Harper may be a stud. I think you take him and if you have too many guards then ship them later. Kyle Mann on Simmons last night was saying he'd be a #1 in plenty of years.
May 13May 13 I echo the last 2 posts. We aren’t excited enough for landing a potential future superstar. We can have Fox run the ship for the next 3-4 years while Harper develops and takes over. https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/dylan-harper-not-your-typical-consolation

Don't overthink it and just take Harper. Giannis is gonna have a lot of suitors and I don't like giving up a shitload to get a guy on the wrong side of 30.
May 13May 13 Given his age (just said the same to my boys) what's a realistic trade for the freak? Who and what would you give up?

I'm in the "take Harper and let shit work itself out" camp if we aren't somehow involved for Giannis. Ace Bailey is intriguing as well. Can't believe you had those two guys on the same roster and couldn't do better than 15-17 or whatever Rutgers was. I didn't realize that Harper is Ron Harper's kid until yesterday.
May 13May 13 My two cents would that SA would be better off taking that Ace Bailey long term, assuming he can shoot. You'd have Wemby, Bailey, Fox, and Castle. That's a helluva young core for literally the next decade. MIL would want at minimum Castle and the #2 pick in addition to other assets. Giannis also has $175M left over three years.

He's going to screw up their cap going forward and he's going to deplete the assets that would allow them compete for years. They got so lucky, again. Take Harper. Don't think twice about it. Don't overcomplicate it. I'm concerned that they don't have enough (any) shooters, but let's not over think this. Harper is going to be unstoppable playing off of Wemby. They can find some shooters through trades or free agency. They are building this the right way. It's not going to take them long to make the jump.

Depends on what the bidding war looks like. For us it would be either Harper or Castle, probably DV or Sochan maybe and then some salary filler and we'd take one of their bad-ish contracts. Plus 3 or 4 firsts I think. Sengun is in the deal if you're Houston as is probably two of their promising wings like JSJ, Eason, Whitmore... Amen is likely untouchable. Plus a similar amount of picks.

Bailey has bust written all over him. We take Giannis and we're immediate contenders for the title next year, it puts our rebuild into overdrive. With Harper we have a strong young core that can contend for a decade with Giannis we have a team that can win 2-3 championships the next 6 years.
May 13May 13 Does Fox's upcoming contract extension impact whether or not SA going after Giannis? He has one year left and Wemby has two years left. Giannis is at about $60M per year the next three years.

You're almost better off with 1 A lister, 2-3 B listers, and then a bunch of B-/C+ guys. Otherwise, it's 3 A listers and a bunch of G League guys.

May 14May 14 So Harper is 6'6" 215. Castle is basically the same size. Could you get away with lineups with them 2 plus Fox? You'd probably have to be big at the 4 and the 5. I think you maybe could.
May 14May 14 22 hours ago, thepop said: Wow..... he was like 6'2" his last year in HS. If you get lucky he grows another half an inch or inch. But with those measurements..... I'm thinking you keep is simple, stupid and take Harper. Teach him how to win and how to lead. Trade Fox in 2-3 years and Harper/Castle is your backcourt for the next decade or more. We'd still have assets to trade for a star level player either this summer or at the deadline.

Trading the future for Giannis and his $178M right now is basically ceding Wemby away in five years because the team is middling. If Harper is good, that's a solid core.
May 14May 14 Alright we're going a little far in the other direction now. I still vote draft Harper. But - I mean - Giannis and Wemby would be so fucking disgusting together. Giannis is on the wrong side of 30 but he was still far and away the 2nd best player in the league this season. If you could keep Castle, Fox and bring CP3 back? That's an immediate Finals contender.

If it's not a roster fit you can always trade it away, so get the most leverage you can get.
May 14May 14 Side note, let Harper have #2. It’s time to get Kawhi’s stink off that number. No fan is going to accept the number being retired anyway.

I always say this to Spurs fans who insist that his jersey be retired; it will be the first jersey retirement ceremony where the people in attendance actively boo (and loudly) the honoree.

May 15May 15 Video of Giannis and Dylan working out. Also, some Ace Bailey. Giannis is so fucking cool.

May 17May 17 Is it just me or does Sochan's shot look a little better here? Slightly less of a hitch? I was hoping that last season was sort of a work-in-progress to slowly fix his mechanics. zachpeace_383ec730014a4f80bf22b0abc02a77a4.mp4

I'm not sure this is the right thread for this because we aren't drafting the fucker - but I was reading a mock yesterday that said he was 6'10" and I had no idea and figured it was a typo. For a second I was like "oh okay I get why he's consensus #3". But yeah that's not exactly 6'10". It's still 2.75 inches on Tre but his wingspan is only a 2.25 more. Edgecombe is 6'4.0" w/o shoes but has just a 6'7.5" wingspan. I could see them going in any order 3-5 tbh. The mock I was reading had Kneuppel 5th over Tre fwiw which would be a huge fucking mistake but it is the NBA draft.
May 21May 21 Kevin O'conners latest mock draft (Yahoo) has us taking this guy at 14. Definitely need to use that pick for a shooting wing like him or a big.

The same article at The Athletic that showed that said Flagg measured about the same in socks. Duke listed him at 6-9. Guess the shoes give you an inch or so. At any rate, I found it interesting. Bailey has some nice tools and if he's really 6-10, even more so. I want us to take Harper or trade the pick for something like Giannis.
