He’s just a paid athlete. Nothing more. I don’t get all the sentimentality. He got paid to do a job. He did it well like he was paid to do. Like any paid employee. Now he’s on to the next job. See ya kid. We’ll be fine. Name on the front is still the same. I guess I’ve just never been a “fan” of anyone except maybe Roger Staubach. They all come and go.

if you don’t literally love jose altuve, are you really an astros fan?

He’d have made a fortune repping a kimchi producer if he had signed in Korea.

Pretty awkward for Bellinger to be teammates with his wife's ex. We know she's not a breaking ball, because neither Bellinger nor Giancarlo Stanton can hit those.

Well I do love me some Altuve and I’m pretty sure my 80 year old dad would trade me for him straight up. I amend my statement. I am a fan of Altuve.

#1206

Also my dad is almost 80 and I am no where near old enough to have been a Staubach fan.

Maybe the sentimentality is more utilitarian and people are SAD to lose someone that good.

I was right behind home plate at an A's game and yelled "I love you, Jose Altuve."  I know he heard, it was like a sensory deprivation chamber there.

Tucker has the personality of a potato, so he's not going to be really loved by any fanbase.

I did this in Arizona while wearing a shirt that has like 30 of his face/head on it and he looked at me and I think wanted to call security.

Yeah hes a great player but him leaving doesn't bother me like it did losing Springer/Correa.

Now if Altuve would have left I would probably cried myself to sleep for a week

Bregman leaving sucks too, but Tuckers bothers me the least.

I know for a fact that the front office - all the way to the owner - has the opinion that he cares about himself more than the team.  Apparently he had his agent involved with all of his treatment sessions, and the Astros felt like he could have gotten out there earlier this year.  But he cared more about protecting himself and his eventual payday.  That's why they had no problem moving him for the right package - they 100% knew that they didn't want to give him the extension he's going to ask for, not only due to contract terms.  I'm not saying it was unreasonable for Tucker to play it that way, but that was the team's feeling.

Well, that happens if you're wearing an Altuve shirt and no pants.

Jose Altuve is the one athlete who still stirs my emotions the same way my sports heroes did when I was a kid.  The combination of his personality, size, production, clutch performances, and that he’s an Astro for life are unmatched.  Hell, the way he handled the sign stealing stuff was so high character, taking responsibility, shielding his teammates, and continuing to perform, just made me root for him even harder.  He’s the one guy I would really be affected by if he went and played for another team or got caught up in some scummy/criminal activity.  I literally love Jose Altuve.

Seems like something the team would say after trading him

Also, good job on not learning your lesson with old guys.  I would like to know who was pushing the trade.

You could tell by the way he stopped diving for fly balls even before his injury.

Oh so you mean we could get a better player like Walker or uhhh Alex Bregman?

Good looking out Arenado, much obliged

This shows how shitty the FO is and gives me zero hope for the future. That’s the best they can go get? Good grief. Just play with what you have and roll the dice.

It’s Nightengale so we can assume Bregs is gone

The worst part of all this for me is that my youngest idolized Breggy. I think I have gotten through to him that he is watching a business operate.

Onward.

Per sources: Part of Arenado's decision stemmed from a preference to not make a decision this early in the offseason. It is unclear whether the Astros will continue heavily pursuing Arenado or pivot to other options. #STLCards https://t.co/HyI2i8GVDu

Hilarious.

I wish they would end up signing Bregman and that Bregman and Boras would up the amount like 10-15M on top of an already higher amount than the originally offered amount just because our fucking front office deserves this now.

We sat right behind the home dugout some years ago, and my wife loudly remarked that Altuve looked like a cute baby as he was warming up. He definitely heard because he gave us a WTF?! look. Greatness. I’m still laughing about it.

As he damn well should. Crane isn't going to post Tucker to be hurt.... Unless Tucker can throw a curve.
