#Astros are the biggest threats for the #BlueJays in Anthony Santander sweepstakes while #Angels have offered similar offer than the Jays. https://t.co/OnX2XBZG9h

That would be great value. No 5th year.

I thought so at first, too.  Then I did some digging, and it turns out this guy didn't even have the best BA on the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers.

In fact, he would only have been fourth on the Missoula PaddleHeads, and now I'm worried again.

This rampant pessimism is completely unwarranted

Profar is reportedly seeking a deal in the 3/45 range, while Santander is getting around 4/80. No way they get both those guys, but I would rather have the latter if the two. If the 4/80 offer from Toronto is true, and that's the highest offer so far, I think the Astros could offer 4/72 and still be the more profitable option for him. The difference in income tax rate between the two cities is 13% for home games, and you don't have to live in Canada. Seems like an easy choice to me.

Fantastic! Texas women’s basketball coach Vic Schaefer joined us in the booth last season. Huge Astros fan! https://t.co/XN4i1VQOk1

Tangential to Astros, but will hopefully make it easier to stream games down the road.

Disney is buying fuboTV, merging it with Hulu’s live TV service and ending a lawsuit. The long-delayed sports streaming JV Venu may now launch. Scoop with @MichelleF_Davis and @chrispalmeri https://t.co/lMVjdDNRFr

BREAKING: Right-hander Justin Verlander and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a one-year contract, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. The future Hall of Famer, who turns 42 next month, will spend his 20th season with the Giants.

Sadly, I was a little hopeful he’d be back (but not if he was going to pitch like he did in ‘24).

Don't worry, Crane will send the Giants Cam Smith at the deadline for the playoff push!

We'll give up 3 more prospects at the tradeline to get him back.

Justin Verlander and the Giants come to Daikin Park from March 31-April 2 during the Astros' first homestand of the season

Those fuckers (fubo).

Sue for antitrust reasons… and then sellout thereby further reducing competition.

mostly just pissed they delayed Venu by who knows how long when it was all primed and ready to go in time for this last football season

i'm guessing the astros keep his rights ?

Bryce Boettcher was drafted by the Astros in the 13th round of the 2024 draft. He's returning to the Ducks in 2025 https://t.co/fM5rSg99cD

the dbacks know grae sucks ?

Matthew Linskey was drafted in the 16th round in 2023 for the Dbacks. He pitched mostly in Single-A last year, all in relief. In 13 games in Single-A he had an ERA of 1.59 with 37 SO in 22.2 innings.

Can Dezenzo Play LF?  They apparently don't think he can stick at 3B anyways.

He's fairly athletic, so I would imagine he can handle left without much trouble.

don't we need a back up 1st ?

#1536

Paredes can play there or Dubon or Diaz in a pinch.  They have enough options.

Wait a minute, that's Jon Singleton's music!  I'll believe we're free of this guy when I see it.

impressive draft fail

As Grae Kessinger departs the Astros' organization, a mind-boggling stat remains intact. The Astros have not had a second-round draft pick produce a positive major-league bWAR since Adrian Houser in 2011

I have heard opinions inside the org on him are mixed.  Some don't think he's going to hit in the majors.

Bryce Boettcher, the Astros' 13th round pick in last June's draft, is returning to Oregon to play football in 2025. Boettcher will not report to spring training and will soon be placed on the restricted list. Boettcher will re-evaluate his options after the 2025 football season.

How good is he at football?  Will probably go nfl if he's good enough.

another year of oregon nil money isn't a bad idea. ewers comes in for next year and they should win the big 10 again and back to the playoffs

he can pick between nfl and mlb, with some money in the bank

SOURCE: #Astros and RHP Luis Garcia settle for $1.875 million salary for 2025, avoiding arbitration.
