The MLB channel posted this 20 minute shortened version of the 2005 NDLS 18 inning, 6 hour game. It's a fun walk down memory lane, lots of great players appeared on both sides. I think Andy Pettite was the only active player the Astros didn't use in that game.  This was the first Astros playoff game I ever attended, which was pure luck, and I stayed for all of it. The eruption of the stadium at the end, after hours and hours of nerve wracking was amazing.

Lifelong Astros diehard here, but I might have to find a new team with a less annoying fanbase.  I'd have been much more pissed at keeping Tucker and letting him walk for nothing this offseason t

I’ll never forget them not selling concessions after the 7th. Couldn’t even buy a water for 12 innings of baseball. Ended up worth it

I think dipshit Fiers is one of the few former Astros I didn’t like, after his glorious revelation of his bullshit character. All the dudes who went and got paid, it’s just the business of baseball.  Pretty sure I will still want Ted to do well. Playing in the NL makes that slightly easier.

Seeing Altuve in another uni would just suck.

I'm rooting for Tucker to do well, no reason to hate on him. I think it would be glorious if he had a monster season and gets the NL MVP over Soto and Ohtani.

The Astros did the right thing trading Tucker. At least we got something for him.

Lol Lance McInjured Jr is going to be ready to be injured again fraud and waste of money just cut him.

Well yeah the White Sox are still an option too

Boras and Bregman really fucked this up and now because of pride have to find something that seems "better" than what they turned down.  They also failed to account for the fact that so many fanbases hate Bregman.

Oh well, he'll be fine in life.  Boras, I mean.

Anyone who writes a story about Bregman going back to the Astros is probably getting feed some info from one of Boras spiders in hopes of getting the Red Sox to give him a better offer. Looks like the Tigers have passed and the Blue Jays are signing Santander.

Boras fucked up. Breggy fucked up. It fucking sucks. My kids will still root for him but he is going to take a pay cut for another team. The 'stros offer looks pretty good in hindsight and he could have retired a legend.

Nothing fucks up a good deal like a good lawyer/agent.

Wow, I can’t believe the Rangers got Bregman for less than the Astros offer.

I'm still hoping, it sucks seeing everyone but Altuve leave.

professional courtesy to help prop up his dying free agency

It’s ridiculous how BBWAA members torture obviously deserving players for years. Wagner doesn’t get in until his tenth and final year of eligibility. Nothing about his qualifications changes from year to year.

baseball HoF voting needs a massive over haul

each team get two votes from the local media, and one current HoF'r gets a vote

and he would have been elected five years ago if he played for a "legacy" franchise

His final year played was phenomenal. Loved watching him come out in the 9th.

I remember Peter Gammons saying "wait until the people in Houston see this guy's arm" when we drafted Wagner.

Congratulations to him

Well i guess Christian Walker needs a new number cause 13 will get retired now

what a mess that 8th and 9th were (3 errors, 2 in the 9th by the late-inning defensive replacement, Ricky Gutierrez.)

Canizaro had way more career hits than I expected.

It’s been a quiet winter for Jurickson Profar thus far, but with fellow outfielders Anthony Santander, Teoscar Hernandez and Tyler O’Neill all off the board now, Profar stands as the top corner outfield bat on the market. The Blue Jays, who just signed Santander for five years, and the Astros are among the teams with interest in the switch-hitting Profar, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported on the MLB Network this morning (video link). The incumbent Padres have also been tied to Profar this winter and very clearly love him as a player and person, but it’s far from clear the  front office will have that kind of spending power. The Friars have reportedly been working to scale back payroll this winter, and that was before recent ownership tumult.

Profar, 32 next month, is fresh off a career year where he improved in just about every measurable category. His .280 average, .380 on-base percentage and .459 slugging percentage all ranked as career-best marks. The former top prospect made massive gains in exit velocity, barrel rate and hard-hit rate, all while posting his best walk rate (11.4%) since 2021 and his lowest strikeout rate (15.1%) since 2020. Profar has long had a plus eye and excellent bat-to-ball skills, but the contact he made was often lacking punch. That wasn’t at all the case in 2024, as he swatted a career-high 24 homers and tacked on 29 doubles in 158 games/668 plate appearances.

Turning to Houston, their outfield is a clear weak spot on the roster — at least on paper — following the trade of Kyle Tucker to the Cubs. Houston will have Jake Meyer in center field, where he’ll be flanked by a combination of Chas McCormick, Taylor Trammelland Mauricio Dubon. Other options on the 40-man roster include Kenedy Corona, Pedro Leon and Cooper Hummel. Clearly, an upgrade would be a worthwhile pursuit.

Damn Bregman gets off to a terrible start every year with a full spring training, imagine how bad it'll be this year if this prolongs.

i.e. Sabathia.  Him coasting through on the first ballot is a joke.

No problem with him being in the Hall, but he's not better than most of these guys that have had to wait a while.

besides tucker, who else could they send in return ?

The #Cubs continue to pursue bullpen help and have expressed interest in #Astros RHP Ryan Pressly and free-agent relievers Kenley Jansen, David Robertson, Phil Maton, Ryne Stanek, and Brooks Raley, per @sahadevsharma and @PJ_Mooney

Who cares...just move him and free up money so we will sign an OF

They could give us their 30th ranked prospect for all I care

While I love this thread, and the posters what are the Astros playing for this season. At best the AL West title? Maybe a fever dream of a pennant before a public execution in the Fall Classic?

The Dodgers are building the Death Star, and there’s no hope in sight until there’s a hard salary cap. And that won’t happen unfortunately without another lockout and a strike.

I just want us to win the last game of the season.

Do you not remember 2019?

They don't hang banners in March.
