Took my 12 year old out on Sunday.  While I was happy in the club on 17 he wanted to autograph hound so  you can guess how most of the afternoon was spent. He got the gray hat from one of the Pum

Psst - PGA 2025  your actually started in January, they did away with the shoulder/carry over season. These events don't get FedEx points, but somehow the results can get certain players opportunities in 2025 & of course $$$

Yes we already went over this in the 2024 thread.

We'll just table this one until January.

Um. What the fuck happened to Scottie? Broken-glass related wound in his palm and he's out a month?

I swear golfers routinely suffer the dumbest, frat-boyesque injuries. Bryson hurt himself playing ping-pong. Rory hurt himself awhile back playing soccer (sorry, football) with his buddies. DJ fell down the stairs of his rental at the Masters.

Jacksonville Jaguars Wtf GIF

Yeah, DJ just “fell down the stairs,” just like Leno “fell down the hill.”

And I mean - how deep can we go on the post 2008 Tiger list...

Now Hovland is injured after smashing his toe on a bed frame.

What is going on with these guys?

I smashed my toe on my couch just last night and I could easily tee it up today. What a bitch.

Kapalua playing easy, when Morikawa goes -32 and finished 2nd by 3 to Hideki.

Think about playing 72 holes and being -35.

Idk it was pretty shitty out there today. Not sure how they did it.

Scottie pulled out of Amex. He’s hoping to be ready for Pebble.

Can’t say that I blame him. Plenty early for it to hurt. He can pick up another tournament or two if he really needs to.

Better to take it now than to bust it open and end up missing more than necessary.

Anybody have any interest in the TGL?

I'm sure I'll watch at least once but I'm unsure if it will be compelling or just feel like I'm watching someone play a video game.

I’ll give it a shot, but not sure for how long. I was kind of under the impression it was sim for the drive, with approach to a real green. Seems like it’s 1st/2nd on sim, putt/chip/bunker on green?

It’ll be interesting one way or the other, but may not keep much attention.

I'd love to know how that household injury went down.

serms like a dumb idea

On espn right now is TGL golf. wtf is this

pace is too slow

Most objectionable part thus far is random yelling and stupid chants from the crowd.

dead quiet would definitely be bad.  Not sure how they could deal with background noise better

I think it’s going to be a hit. Players are allowed to have fun, show personality and the sport may gain younger fans.

And I swear I saw Derka cheering wildly in several crowd shots.

I enjoyed it. Too much TV stuff in between the actual golf, but that's unavoidable.

It was watchable.  Seems a bit videogamish, but I do like hearing the banter between the players.  Is this funded by the PGA in any way?

Agreed that it may appeal to some younger fans, or attract some non-golf watchers.

It is a bit ironic to me that so many guys trashed LIV over the team concept and lack of competitiveness yet all they mentioned last night was how much they wanted to perform for their team, etc.  I get that the bigger issue most of them had was the sports washing component, but they let their criticism extend to things that I think most people look favorably upon (team golf).

Teams make sense in this format. It's not a real course where you can have everyone out playing at the same time. The technology with that green is nuts.

Dude's a cancer survivor, also. Bryson's PR turnaround has to be one of the best ever for an athlete of his exposure level. It got to where I barely liked him and we were literally in school together lol. The PGA and US Open performance's last season definitely helped.

I've got TGL in the background right now. It got good reviews last week and seems to have gotten meh reviews here. Kind of dig it so far. What are they hitting off of?

And like - what is the green/rough/bunker surfaces? faux shit that feels like the real thing ig?

oh okay so the grass is real grass - they're taking divots. I wonder what the green they put on is though.

I got my 80 year old granddad to turn it on - he seems fairly entertained thus far.

I flipped it on for a minute. Wife won’t watch golf, won’t play golf, but at least had enough interest to yap my ear off about it a good bit.

example: “how do they know which club they’re using?”

me: they don’t

her: but then how do they know how far the ball is going to go.e: [trying to explain how a launch monitor works, and that one day I’ll get one]

her: [crosseyed]

I’d like them to use some of those ridiculous fantasy holes like they have on the golf video games. Some of those were stupid hard.

I like the concept. My issue is that it's hard for me to look up and know what is going on. I think they need to make the scoring more transparent and immediately identifiable.

Also - Tiger is a shell of himself. All of these guys are making him look like dogshit.

The later it goes the more of those holes they have.

green is synthetic.

video (starting about 6:05 ) about green technology...

Man why was Kisner on Tiger's team? Or on any team at all? I don't think he hit a drive more than 260. Max was playing behind him during the alternate shot format and never even got to putt.

Max was joking about how bad they would be a week ago. It’s him and 2 guys that currently aren’t pro golfers. At least not anywhere close to full time pros. Pretty unsurprising that they got rolled.

Watched some of that and liner was bad. Hot was one club short or OB every shot it seemed

Just saw the Genesis is being moved because of the fires. I understand obviously but that’s a bummer. One of the unique courses on tour.

Listening to Jim Nance state a Titleist commercial makes me want to go out and play! He is such a great narrator. Many don’t know, but Jim played collegiate golf at Houston. He never made the traveling five, but Houston was very strong back then! You can google their roster from the early-mid 80s.

I know it’s
Hook’em!!!

I tried to edit, but it got deleted??

Anyways, cleaning the grooves on the irons and going through the golf bag pockets. Threw away year old trail mix and an unopened bottle of water. I did find a couple sleeves of “premium” golf balls during that process, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

reports are that it is being moved to Torrey Pines. so two tourneys there in less than a month.

Yeah, that’s lame but predictable.

WHAT DOES JA RULE THINK OF THE TGL GOLF LEAGUE?

I just had it on in the background tonight but I'm so on board with the JT/Cantlay/Horschel team. I think these are my guys. You have Mr. PGA, Mr. Slow Play, tight-ass douchenozzle and then a total fucking spaz wildcard.

well screw me.  Farmers Insurance tourney starts today.  Wed through Saturday so it won't conflict with the conference title games on Sunday.

It is annoying because this a great one to watch. Wish the schedules were different
