How good Arch has been in every adjusted metric across the board is why I'm so confident going into this game.

Arch is GOOD but he's not better than Ewers in this offense today.

The Sark offense is going to throttle those Okie fucks on Saturday.

I like adjusted stats, but sometimes they seem to miss the mark. Arch was great vs MSU, but he didnt do much more than Toledo or Florida did.

MSU's pass defense the last 3 weeks. QBs have completed 86.2% of their attempts at 10.2 per attempt. This is next level bad.

Graduation year in your username checks out.

Checking in at 4-8 here. 4-9 if you count the 2018 Big 12 championship game.

It's not a voodoo thing I just started at UT in 2010.

It is a voodoo thing. I just had to come back to Austin 3 years ago to end your curse. Things were looking great when I left in 2010.

Maybe you are the vodoo and I am but a NPC.

9-16-1 here.  Time to get a streak going the other direction.  We're due.

Forecast looks brutal for Saturday.  Glad I made the decision to go west side with shittier seats than east side where I usually sit once I saw the 2:30 kick.

Spoilered below is a great breakdown of where OU sits nationally and within the SEC in myriad stats, some advanced and some standard (from Sooners Illustrated). The net-net is that OU sucks, and here they suck in about every way measurable. They have solid sack and TO numbers, but even those are buoyed by either outlier performances or really terrible teams. If the turnover margin is -2 or better for Texas, this is likely a spread cover trending towards blowout.

I think I'm going to do a mudhole since this thread and others are starting to show some true pussyrubbing from the community. As such, I'll tie some of this in and give other thoughts around things like the invincibility of Hawkins and how much meth Venables smokes before witnessing at his local Church of Christ or coaching on Saturdays. Anyways, enjoy, and I didn't convert to plain text since the bold formatting helps and, if you don't like that, keep that shit to yourself:

Spoiler

Oklahoma is fresh off its first off week of the season, and now it's time for the biggest game to date.

That's right. It's Red River Rivalry week, as Oklahoma (4-1, 1-1 SEC) and Texas (5-0, 1-0) are set to square off in the Cotton Bowl for their annual rivalry game. Both teams are coming off a bye week, so the Sooners and Longhorns will both have had an extra week to recover, regroup and plan for Saturday's showdown in Dallas, which is set for a 2:30 p.m. start on ABC.

Oklahoma heads into the game with its best defense in years but an offense that ranks toward the bottom of the SEC and in the bottom tier of FBS teams in several statistical categories. The Sooners hope the offense can start trending in the right direction coming out of the bye, as Michael Hawkins Jr. settles in as the team's starting quarterback after a promising first start at Auburn a week ago and a tenacious second-half showing against Tennessee's defense in the SEC opener.

The Sooners will need to get their offense up to par heading into the teeth of their SEC slate, which begins with Saturday's matchup against the Longhorns. In this week's edition of Statistically Speaking, we check in on how Oklahoma stacks up in the SEC and nationally in various statistical categories coming off the bye week…

Also, one of the film nerds should contribute to the community and show some clips from the Auburn game identifying how Hawkins is currently a one-read-and-go guy, because that's what he is. I wonder how different the Texas defensive approach in this game is going to be compared to the Bama game last year? Young mobile QB not used to reading defenses, OL that can be managed towards domination, no truly scary skill position threats, etc. Feels like some similarities are there for UT.

Looks like if they weren't turning teams over Venables would be on the verge of being fired.

Recommended game plan:  very conservative, play for field position, take points at any opportunity. 24 points probably wins the game.

Some injury related stuff from SI covering Venables this week as well:

-Anthony won't be back for weeks. He had another scope done to "clean some stuff up". They tried to rush him back and it cost him and them.

-Farooq and Burks won't be playing this week unless they pretty much force them to do so. "We'll see how those two do in a few days."

-Farooq gets out of a walking boot this week. This is after surgery after the Temple game. What they don't tell you is that Farooq was recommended surgery after a similar injury in the spring, but due to pressure from the staff, he passed on it. The reinjury in the Temple game shouldn't be a surprise.

-Burks' injury has not been disclosed formally. It's believed to be a "soft tissue injury in the lower body". If you believe that, did he pull a groin, calf, quad or hammy? It could easily be an ankle or knee thing, IMO. Burks isn't ready to go but they're pushing him to play this weekend.

-They pushed Anderson back before he was ready, then he suffered further injury.

Notice a trend? Remember any of this from the past? Notice who is running the program and who is running the S&C?

Anyway, I assume we'll see some truth tomorrow night since the SEC requires it of them.

As usual, protect the ball. Here, an incompletion or throwaway is better than a risky throw in almost every situation. Go after them. Make them have to pass. Put the pressure on them to come up with points. Don’t try so hard to be safe you leave them with striking distance with a punt return and a busted coverage. Something like Michigan, but with more points.

Yes. Quinn showed us that he gets this now, I think.

Agreed. Frankly, every second these crimson cocksuckers aren’t down by at least two TDs, they probably feel good about the game. You don’t have to be reckless to do it, but pull their fucking hearts out early and then just keep kicking the corpse until the clock runs out.

My first Texas/ou game. I was drunk enough to anesthetize an elephant.

Protect the ball & fewer penalties. My biggest fear is we have a ton of holding calls like we did against Mississippi State.

Something akin to this would suffice.  This is the level of cruelty OU deserves.  We owe them a couple of black Saturdays still.

Interesting that OU is only +2 in TOs since their opener against Temple.

Since Temple they have recovered 4 fumbles and made 3 picks and have lost 2 fumbles and thrown 3 picks.  So +2 fumbles over 4 games.

Meanwhile, Temple has had 9 more TOs since OU.

Yes. Quinn showed us that he gets this now, I think.

Quinn has always taken care of the ball. I believe he leads Texas all-time in int-att ratio. He has attempted 769 passes and thrown 14 over his career. That is one pick per 55 attempts.

And recovering fumbles is a less repeatable statistic, generally.

Especially since Texas isn’t fucking going to fumble. Right? Right?

Oklahoma has been quite lucky recovering 80% of fumbles this year.

We'll have to play poorly to lose. Of course, that's always possible against a decent D that gets turnovers, but I don't foresee it. I do expect some weird play or sequence to happen during the game, because in this one it so often does. Call it 27-13 Texas in a workmanlike effort that hopefully leaves us healthy for UGA and beyond.

Yep it’s still Ewers 1, Ehlinger 2.

Same, on both accounts.

I don’t think I’ve ever screamed so loudly in my life. Actually, I’m fairly confident that I can no longer scream that loud because of this game. I honestly think I did irreparable damage to my vocal cords.

Protect the ball & fewer penalties. My biggest fear is we have a ton of holding calls like we did against Mississippi State.

SEC refs to keep games close by Pozderac-ing Texas?

That wouldn't surprise me from these toothless twats.  They're probably still bent that we nuked their SEC-bagmen scheme from orbit.  Lulz.

Take care of the football, don't fumble, don't throw picks?

I thought it was Big 12 refs that sucked? 1 game in and it’s the SEC refs that are out to get us now? Classic.

Trivia! Casey Thompson plays for OU. Has a former starting Texas QB ever later played against us? Or even just been on the sidelines?

Tony Adams began his career at UT as the starting QB on the 1968 freshman team, but transferred to Utah St. due to our depth chart.  He started for them in a loss to us in 1972.

Fuck OU

After 1st bye: 56.80 (7th, 75th)

we need to work on scoring about 7 TDs in the first half.  Then another 4 in the 2nd half.

I want to see ou tears all over the place.

Looks like if they weren't turning teams over Venables would be on the verge of being fired.

Recommended game plan:  very conservative, play for field position, take points at any opportunity. 24 points probably wins the game.

like patton in the movie during the march to bastogne, "this is where it pays off, the training and the discipline"

i want to see sark and quinn torture venables with 7/8/9 yard throws to wide open receivers matriculating down the field

walk up those safeties in to the box motherfucker, faafo

So what I'm seeing in those stats is that they've got a salty defense - unless you decide to throw the football.

I'm not going back and re-watching a ton of Sooner tape, but against the competition they've faced (not saying ours is a ton better), that defense is usually the result of just sending a gazillion guys through the gaps and trying to get the QB on the ground as quickly as possible. Think "7 Breckyn Hagers in the box" style. It'll cause panic and turnovers against lesser mortals.

Playing a Sark designed offense, it means the phrase "coverage bust" will be worn out by halftime.
