I know it technically started last week in Prague but nobody watched that shit so go fuck yourself. We get this shit started tomorrow with a nice triple-header on ESPN, which includes my B’s. I have a Stanley Cup Final of Bruins/Oilers, with the B’s taking the series in six and sending McJesus packing to look for a new team outside of Alberta. Fuck the Habs, fuck the Leafs, fuck the rest of Canada, and fuck the Stars (had to throw it in for all you Texas people).

I think the central is going to be a buzzsaw this season, possibly more so than normal. every team up and down got better (except Dallas - they maybe stayed the same).  I think the Metro will be a pretty easy Division. Pens, Caps, Flyers, Isles, and Jackets all look to be middling teams.

Central and Atlantic are going to be the toughest divisions in each conference. My biggest question is if Tampa will still be a playoff team. They certainly could but they aren’t the same team from ‘19-‘22.

Well….the cats are still pretty decent…think we get a couple back this next period. Just glad we signed Swayman lol

yeah, as much as people are thinking my boys (Canes) are going to take a step back this year when people talk about missing the playoffs entirely I'm like "bro, have you even looked at the rest of this division? 3rd place is as bad as it's likely to get unless something ridiculous happens". Isles could goalie their way into a Wild Card spot again but I think that's their upside. Everyone else outside the top 3 is either rebuilding or needs to rebuild.

Central is ridiculous - everyone but Chicago has a realistic chance this year at being a playoff team.

I'm not sold on any of the rebuilding Atlantic teams taking that next step yet. Detroit's probably the closest but not sold on that goaltending.

Pacific is almost as predictable as the Metro.

Ummmmm yeah, the Avs still have goalie problems

Yeah, giving up 7 goals on 20 shots isn't ideal.  They win that game with just average goaltending. Way to waste Mikko's hatty.

I have 42 reasons to watch the Caps … and I hope he gets there this season.  He has been such a treat to watch.

He has a little work to do in the A column though

The B’s finally have a first line center and it feels so good.

Six fucking penalties in the first period against FLA. We have to stay out of the box against them.

So the two worst teams in the league are Colorado and Edmonton?  Makes sense...

Ovi picked up Assists 699 and 700 against LVGK.

fun back and forth game between Jets and Pens right now. If the score remains the Jets will be the only 5-0 team. This and the Preds going 0-5 to start the season are certainly surprises for me.

yeah, probably. I've been thinking goaltending is becoming weaker league-wide and skating skill is much higher than in the recent past. I play fantasy hockey and my top performer right now Is Mo Seider, a defensemen on Detroit. I think scoring skill and ability is way up across the league and goaltending is relatively weaker than, say, when the Bolts were winning their cups. Vasi definitely carried them through those cups - not sure if the same can be said for any current NHL tender

Frozen Frenzy tomorrow - all 32 teams in action. One of those time I 'm glad I work from home and put on multiple screens.

if every team is playing today, why not start at noon and have a game start every half hour? seems like squeezing everything past 5p is chaos, not frenzy

That would be too smart for the NHL to ever think about.

Think the Torts experiment in Philly is almost done. Just don’t see them taking the next step.

The Avs defense is fucking horrible. They’re tiny and not physical. It’s not all goaltending when you have defensemen just lobbing pizza in their own zone. They will get eaten alive this year in the Central if they don’t make a couple of moves on defense.

He could have chewed thru steel bars after the Flyers gave up their second shortie of the first period.

Atypical scoring .. one 5-5 to close out two shorthanded and two 4-4 goals.

They just can’t put the puck in the net. That due to them being very weak up the middle.

They settled down and played much better in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

People here think Makar is better than Bobby Orr.  It's pretty comical.

His game struggles materially when Toews is out of the lineup. Toews is a true defensive defenseman and it allows for Makar to cheat offensively a bit.

They do not.  Stop exaggerating.

This is very true.

The dudes on the sports radio station (104.3?) on my car presets talk about nothing but the Broncos and how great Makar is. I have literally heard one of those guys say on air that Makar is better than Orr was.

First of all, stop listening to 104.3.  92.5 is far better for sports talk.

Second, Makar gets compared to Orr a lot because he is doing things that haven't been done since Bobby played.  But I have never, not even one time, heard anyone say Makar is better than Orr.

always seems to be up early in the season until teams lock in defensively, but the reduction in the goalie equipment size a couple years back has been making a noticeable difference in numbers even with that being the case.

man, OT in that Canes-Oilers game last night is how OT in this format should be. Just end to end action with some great stops.

I can't pick games this year for shit! At least my Jets are in first, for now. I know, I know, it won't last long. And fuck Utah, until next year.
