March 7Mar 7 I'd absolutely rather have a bit out of shape, average D, 25 year old match up problem, who racks up 30/8/8 like it is falling off a log than a 32 year old, injury prone big, who has maybe 3-4 years left in the tank. I mean, it isn't really even a difficult thought process, yet here we are.
March 8Mar 8 When is the last time a franchise has crashed and burned this fast with the future/promise the Mavs have had? I can't think of any. To go from the Finals last year, 2 WCF in 3 years, a great player who will have you a contender for years to come to what has happened in just a month? Not only did they trade Luka but got a vastly inferior, often injured player in return with no draft picks haul. No one wants to play for this goofball franchise any longer. AD will mail it in. Kyrie might or might not stay but it doesn;t matter now. Fuck Nico.
March 8Mar 8 Listening to the Cuban interview with WFAA just brought up the same question I had when it happened. For simple math, this is a $5B company. And the majority owners just sold their most valuable asset for pennies on the dollar. On what planet would it make sense to be able to do that without even consulting an "investor" (all he is at this point) that owns 20% (more) of the company? He has over a BILLION dollars in the company and doesn't have one bit of say in anything. I only took b-law because I had to, but someone make that make sense. If I had that much money in anything and people were pissing it away I'd have problems. Makes you wonder...

March 8Mar 8 I’ve never had this level of sports sad. And I fucking love the longhorns and endured 2010-2022. Edited March 8Mar 8 by bigcigar
March 8Mar 8 Can you imagine how bad it is to work for the Mavs doing social media, ticket sales, sponsorship or any part of the operation right now? They probably had a town hall a couple weeks ago and told people things would start getting better and instead they have gotten that much worse. The anger is more intense, everyone gives you shit, and you aren’t making any money. It’s a death spiral type situation.Head of PR is a friend from college… I haven’t reached out because I don’t even know what to say.
March 8Mar 8 On the bright side, the ball moves better now that fat ass is gone. Everyone gets to touch the ball!!!
March 8Mar 8 Two of my friend are part of a group of 5 guys who share 2 season tickets in the lowest section at one end zone. The seats are about 6 to 8 rows up. The tickets have been in one of the friend’s family for 20 to 35 years. (May have had season tickets at Reunion Arena.) Anyway… my two friends and one other guy are out. They’re done. The other two will find replacement people, but they may come from people who are already in on other seats. The friend who went with his daughter tonight wrote: “Lots of empty seats tonight and parking lot was maybe half full when we arrived… Atmosphere is DEAD ☠️ “ Video… Spoiler IMG_6380.mov

March 8Mar 8 This is very interesting timing Quote Robert Goldstein, Las Vegas Sands’s chairman, chief operating officer and long-time senior executive, will transition to the role of senior advisor in March 2026, while Patrick Dumont is in line to become the company’s next chairman and CEO, the company announced Thursday.
March 10Mar 10 They were doing the Fire Nico chant at the FC Dallas game last night and today at Medieval Times https://x.com/auroraf34508886/status/1898617232692793395?s=46&t=WQWp8jCL9d3WDAPBWICDFQ
March 10Mar 10 What are the chances that the chant will get going at the Rangers home opener?Almost a certainty.

You best not piss off those medieval times dudes. They got body armor, horses, and a jousting lance. They’ll pike your ass.

Back in Dallas a good friend of mine in high school always said he was going to be a Hollywood stuntman. Had zero other ideas and no interest at all in going to a four year college. In school he was always doing pratfalls down stairs and whatnot. He was a bit of a goofball, but had a great attitude and when people laughed at him, he would laugh along. After high school he took a few classes at Richland college to make his mom happy but went to work at Medieval Times as a squire- literally shoveling horse shit part time. In a couple of years, he worked his way up to knight, and about a year after that he got a job at Six Flags in the Batman stunt show. He did so well there that they sent him to an overseas park in the offseason, and after moving through that system for a while he goes out to California. Fast forward twenty five years to the present and he’s in his third decade as one of the top stuntmen in Hollywood. He’s the only guy I know who became exactly who they always wanted to be. Medieval Times, man. Edited March 11Mar 11 by Bozo_Casanova

March 11Mar 11 Hell yes. Thanks @Bozo_Casanova That shit made me smile. This thread needs to be more of a fucking support group at this point anyway.

March 11Mar 11 These fucking pieces of shit are actually doing "smart" pr finally. Not sure if y'all heard AD speak over the weekend, but it would make any idiot swoon. Reset: I hope something bad happens to the people that own the Mavs.
March 11Mar 11 Heard on the radio this morning that average restaurant revenues right around the AAC are down 20+% on Mavs game nights since the trade. Not only did they rip the fans' hearts out, they're literally hurting people's livelihood.
March 11Mar 11 I know I mentioned Heather Thomas but please do not googles her, just remember the early 80's good times and let it be.

He took this personal and wanted to make Nico look good *Kyrie injury was predictable. Oft injured player leading league in minutes at 32? These were avoidable 2025: dead 2026: Kyrie is back after the ASB playing himself into shape 2027: Mavs make a run with 34 year old AD and 35 year old Kyrie (if you resign him) yea Nico you pulled a fast one on Pelinka. Outsmarted the room there Well you forgot that one solitary first rounder they got back that I'm sure will be mid 20's ish...
March 12Mar 12 Nico screwed the businesses outside of AAC too..... https://www.dallasobserver.com/restaurants/restaurants-see-drop-in-business-after-mavericks-trade-luka-doncic-21889033 Spoiler As Kyrie Irving hobbled to the free-throw line to take his last two shots of the season on Monday, March 3, the crowd at the American Airlines Center grew quiet. Yes, it was out of respect, but throw in a bit of stunned silence as well. Those two free throws felt like the proverbial nails in the Mavericks' coffin for the season. In the third quarter, the Mavs were outscored 34-16, and fans started heading to the exits like the fire alarm was ringing. One person who stayed around, presumably to finish her popcorn, started yelling, "Fi-re! Ni-co!" between stuffing handfuls into her mouth. Others chimed in from around the arena. It's the chant heard across Dallas ever since Luka Doncic became a Laker. Later that week, the Mavs returned to the AAC on Friday night to face the Memphis Grizzlies. Thirty minutes before tip-off, almost every seat at the bar in Chop Sports Victory Park, located in front of the arena, was vacant. A server said the previous night, when the Stars played, every seat was taken and standing room was shoulder to shoulder. "Thank God we still have the Stars," they said. At Billy Can Can, a popular pregame dinner spot and top 100 restaurant, business on Mavs game days is down. The general manager, Herman, said that turnout for the Stars is better. "We still love them [the Mavericks], and many everyday fans are still here, but business is definitely down 15-20% for the Mavs games," Herman said. Step-Back Three-Pointers and Good Times Harwood Arms is a fun English-style pub within walking distance of the AAC, and also a top 100 restaurant. Last year on May 24, we headed that way after a Stars game to watch the end of Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals; the Mavs were in Minnesota. The place was packed. It was cold outside but warm and dim inside. All eyes were on the TVs overhead. The Mavs were down by two points with 5 seconds left in the game and Luka, wearing an all-black Mavs jersey, sunk a step-back three-pointer to win it. Doncic screamed, taunting Rudy Gobert, who he just sailed his shot over, as the bar went absolutely wild. It was one of the best sports memories we'll ever have. Jumping up and down, shoulder to shoulder with strangers, screaming like ... our franchise player just sunk a step-back three-pointer to win Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Nothing beats winning. Alas, we've digressed. Back to last Monday's game — before Kyrie's season-ending injury — the difference in the pub was stark and painful. Fans had their pick of seats at Harwood Arms. We're optimists, but it was half-empty an hour before tip-off. There wasn't the usual trail of people walking over to the game or big blobs of fans waiting at the crosswalks. Ironically, the Mavericks announced that day that season ticket prices will rise an average of 8.61% for the 2025-2026 season. Harwood Arms manager Stephanie Gaska says that she's noticed something interesting since the Doncic trade: more people are showing up to watch Lakers games. It's hard to say if attendance at games is down because of third-party ticket sellers; all the tickets to every game are sold, but there's no way to track the seats that are occupied, so far as we know. But outside the arena, the bars and restaurants seem to be hurting. I called HERO, which is on PNC Plaza in front of the AAC, and asked if they've seen a drop in business since the Doncic trade: they hung up on me. Fair enough. Black Tap Craft Burgers and Beer put me on hold and left me there. I get it. We're all trying to deal with this now. The Lakers play the Denver Nuggets in the Mile High City this Friday, March 14. That'll be a fun game with Nikola Jokic fresh off his no-big-deal, shrugs-it-off 30-20-20, the first in NBA history. He and Doncic will likely put on a show to make all Slavics proud. The Mavs are out of town, playing Houston that night, so Harwood Arms could be packed.

You swapped him out for an injury prone 32 year old who has zero interest in being here. But Dallas was everything to Luka. Fuck off
March 14Mar 14 He’s the embodiment of failing upwards - What an absolute fucktard. His 0 years of basketball experience really qualifies him to make/judge players.
