Dirk going to LA for Luka’s debut. Probably the biggest FU yet to this front office.

Isn’t trading your star player and having all your good players injured and then raising ticket prices the plot of major league II?

For once I'd really like us to get out to a fast start. That way it's not as catastrophic when we have an injury to a key player.

Just tuning in. Luka appears to be playing like absolute shit but we’re up double digits. Go figure.

I don't get the Gafford starting hate. He's not as gifted as Lively but he does seemingly all that right things with fight. Nothing but a good example for Lively.

It'd be nice if he'd either hit a 3 or stop shooting them.  he's been awful the last 2 games.

He looks out of shape. I know he was hurt in preseason, but still disappointing to see.

every year...probably get worse now that he's married.

and another brick.  thank god for Kyrie

Third game in four nights. Road back to back. That’s a scheduled loss.

Kyrie though. LFG.

I like the way this team is put together. Luka looks like he’s in pretty good shape by Luka standards. He just had an off night.

It's nice to have 3 guys that can legitimately can go off any night.  Add Dinwiddie as a wild card too.

Luka's in good shape, you can tell from his physique he put the work in.  I think that calf injury's still lingering more than he or Kidd are letting on.  His shot selection is not normal- lotta settling for fadeaway jump shots instead of of taking it to the hole. I don't think he can push off that leg. But it could also be that everyone's putting more of an emphasis on the defensive end this year and he's conserving energy or tired.   He's been so good on that side of the floor.

It's October, so if he's actually hurt as bad as you're saying, he needs to sit. Dude is shooting 36% from the field.

You can see some cut and definition in his arms for once in his career:

I think it's 75% he's focusing on the defensive end and 25% the calf injury.  He knows he's got a deeper bench this year who can take slack off him on the offensive end and he's heard the calls of him needing to lead by example on the defensive end.  But I can't get over his shot selection and his inability? unwillingness? to get to the hole.  Granted we've played SA (Wemby), Utah (how many tall white lane cloggers do they have?), and Minn (Gobert) so his paint shot % will probably go up as we get deeper into the season.

He also had hit in the nuts and had to come out of the game because of it.

I'm pretty stoked with Luka's defense so far this year albeit with a small sample size. I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt in regard to figuring out his offense and this season the Mavs are lucky enough to have another option in addition to Kyrie to take some of the burden off while he does so. Put me in the "not remotely concerned" camp. If he is playing this type of defense in the playoffs I'll go out on a limb and say that Dallas is going to go pretty far.

Mavs absolutely destroying the magic. Up 25+ in the 3rd.

I’m digging my HD antenna and the ability to watch all the games.

Perimeter defense and defensive rebounds have been such a problem this year.

Terrible way to end the game. Can’t believe they called that shit. Where was Lively tonight?

No Lively tonight really hurt us. Dude is irreplaceable.

Lively's hurt. We didn't have PJ tonight either.  Even with both of them though our defensive rebounding has been problematic.  Luka needs to pull his head out and stop taking those fadeaways.  Kidd needs to say something to him but it's Kidd.  The same Kidd who has no other inbound play other than give it to Luka moving away from the basket so he can attempt a circus shot.

Kidd has not been able to adjust for losing DJJ. Naji has had a few good games offensively recently but he is not the rebounder or team defender that Jones was thus far.

Losing DJj has hurt more than I thought it would.  We also don't have anyone who can guard the team's best player like he could.

2 major nut kicks in a row. This team isn’t closing out games like last year. I thought it was way too much iso the last 2 minutes and settling for long 3s.

Another year, another meh start from J Kidd.

i'm watching the nuggets broadcast and even the nuggets announcers were shocked they didn't overturn that.  they brought up how we got hosed last game in phoenix the same way.  it's so frustrating.

It's the Jason Kidd way.  "Luka is the game plan." - Jason Kidd 2023

Jason Kidd does not make us better.  He's basically JB Bickerstaff.

Yep, getting fucked two games in a row feels bad, man. That said, Luka’s had some terrible shots in the clutch. He’ll pull it together, but it’s not enjoyable right now… and Kidd STILL not figuring out a better plan to close out quarters/half than Luka iso 3’s makes me ragey.

What a game from Kyrie.  It's too bad our coach refuses to scheme a way to make it easier on our players.

What an ovation for Klay coming back to SF. Loudest and most emotional homecoming I've seen in the NBA.

Probably the prettiest Eurostep I've ever seen just now with Luka too. Too pretty.

I really, really want to watch the rest of this game but I’m sick as a dog and have been up since 4AM so…

Good luck, boys - go get it done!

Just tuned in mid 2nd quarter. Why is the crowd wearing those stupid ass sailor hats? Looks goofy as shit.

Captain Klay. It’s a nice homage.

Great game. Rooting for Klay to hit the game winner.

Third straight game with a horrendous call by ref down the stretch? Lol, Green clearly in restricted area. Basically 5 point swing

Oof.. Steph has always been him.

Also Luka's shot selection down the stretch is so bad.

awesome.  Luka iso for the brick...so fucking typical.

The entire season his poor shot selection has kept us out of any rhythm.  He's being stubborn trying to shoot his way out of a slump instead of of being smart.  He's so IQ deficient in some ways.

At this point I would much rather give Ky the ball in the clutch, and this game those shots should have gone to Thompson…

Refs are fucking us late, but Luka has missed clutch shots down the stretch in the last three games… feels bad, man!

This is fucking miserable…

Luka of course falling asleep on D is the difference [emoji2961]

You want to feel frustrated? Watch Luka on that last defensive possession.  Then watch his teammates' reactions.  They'd been putting up all night with his complaining on no calls and it culminated in that.

Still think this team has had 2 great runs because Kidd has the players rallying around him—and that’s to his credit. But you just cannot return an NBA finals roster and have stretches like this. It’s inexcusable.

They have some new pieces to work in, but if this continues my patience will have run very thin.

If he wasn’t so fragile, once Ky is back having Luka come off the bench might send the right message.

What is the introduction of Dallas Mavs starting lineup theme song from 2011?  I heard it just now on ABC telecast of Florida vs. LSU.  Evidently there are some lyrics to this piece.  I might have heard "putting in the work"....

thx
