I don't think any of the calls were wrong, but there sure were a lot of calls against Texas on key plays.

That was the same crew that called our game vs Georgia- godawful officious intermeddlers.  Main ref looked and talked and reasoned like Gomer Pyle before the Marines.

  • Rewatching the game now.  -I know it infuriates @BurntOrange&White but Michael Taaffe is going to play in the NFL. -We probably lost about 50 rushing yards due to stupid holding penaltie

  • That hold on Helm was bogus.

  • Say what you will about yesterday's win. But that was the fourth road win in a row against ranked teams. Hook "em baby.

Praying Sark is smart enough to be embarrassed and pissed off. Sloppy game with some bright spots….

That hold on Helm was bogus.

What plays is sark supposed to call with a QB that is scared of his shadow and had already checked down twice before he gets the snap?  Quinn is broken, man. It's tough to watch.

The call on Gunner was BS. He beat his man plain and simple and put him on the ground. No holding. There was a lot of uncalled holding by Vandy, which is why our pass rush didn't get home more. Whether they just missed them or not, I don't know. Not going to say it was intentional, but the holding calls in this game wasn't balanced IMO.

Roberson is a liability on kick returns. He has legitimately been called for holding three times in the last two games.

Um, Helm's "Holding" call has been called multiple times this year.   Phantom calls are not accidents.

How many drives did Vandy truly stop us without the help of a penalty or INT? 1 maybe 2?

Some of the calls were BS but it’s infuriating to see this veteran OL do stupid stuff.

Oh hell yeah.  FL plays GA next week while we have a bye.  Hopefully, the next 2 weeks can be less stressful before the final 3 games.

I am not a conspiracy theorist but there is zero doubt in my mind that the officiating crew absolutely was going to make sure the penalties were going to be called heavily in favor of Vanderbilt.

They wanted to make sure it didn’t look like Texas was getting advantageous calls after last week. Turning over that call last week was historic. It was the right decision but still unprecedented.

Definitely. If we're in a dog fight with Florida we are in serious trouble.

Florida will be no problem. Conveyed by my cousin who is a Florida Alumni

The offensive line plays undisciplined and has been unable to pick up the blitz effectively. There was constant pressure on the pocket which forces a lot of those short throws. Anyone putting all the offenses woes on Quinn doesn’t understand offensive football. He took what the defense gave, which is exactly what he is supposed to do. Until this o line can protect and get enough push that we can consistently run in run downs, this team will struggle.

People are correct that Ewers has not looked great the last few weeks. But I'm not sure why he's being singled out. The entire offense has looked like shit with the possible exception of Wisner, Helm, and the small amount of Blue this week. QB, OL, WR, coaching. It's all been ass.

because the QB is the single most important person on the team?

Fair. I’d like to keep blue getting touches though. And where the hell has Gibson been?

Gibson is nursing an injury per the $9.95 crowd.

Sideline shuffle

On another note, I can't wait to watch Hawaii tonight. I love late night games after win. I'll still sulk, but we won and aggy will lose. Ou lost, too, so this might not be the worst day of my life.

So far.

Ok.  Call holding.  I get it.  Can be called on almost every play.  That being said, the more talented team should not get 5 (or more) holds called than the less talented team.  I don't care what the situation is.

The excuses need to stop. Our #1 problem is Ewers.

Not play calling. Not officiating. Not “injury.”

Watch the tape.

Enjoy watching the playoff without the Texas Longhorns.

One of the most un-enjoyable wins I've seen in watching the horns for f***y-something years.

Maybe I didn’t see the correct angle but it looked like Helm knocked a guy on his ass and then jumped on him last ke you’re taught.

Glad we were able to change out the cocksucker refs of the Big 12 for the shit-eating cocksucker refs of the SEC.

The story for this game should have been that a pissed off Texas team took the field and the offense physically beat the shit out of an undersized D Line using fast and hard-running RBs. Quick pitches, sweeps, quick hitters. Beat their Cornerbacks to a pulp while you're at it. Dominate them on the ground, then throw three or four long TD passes. That offense wasn't angry - or at least Sark didn't give them a chance to show it. Personally, I think Sark wasn't angry enough and it showed.

A good coach recognizes a mismatch and pushes it down the throat of his opponent until the opponent adjusts, then you go in for the kill. I know one thing, if we'd been cramming the ball down their throats, they wouldn't have been all over Quinn in the backfield. Sark is still on a learning curve. If only he read Surly.

Cam Williams is not ready for the pros, he almost cost us the game with his bullshit today. The book on Quinn for 2 years has been he sucks when pressured, nothings changed.

Did not know this. Thanks.

I think people are pissed that we look like Tech lately with the semi successful screens seemingly every play vs the Sark signature deep crosses chunk plays.  Having the announcers call our once vaunted QB Check down Charlie add fuel to the fire.  Fuck it. Wins a win. Nobody knows how good Vandy will be.  Mizz was shut out by the team that lost to Vandy.

I will pray to sweet 8lb baby Jesus that we clean up penalties.  That will be enough to let the talent shine

There’s just something about sarks teams that are never as good as the sum of the parts

I literally had to walk away from the tv for most of the 4th and went for a walk around the neighborhood.  One of the most frustrating games I have watched Texas play in 30 years

Lol. See you next year!

Quinn gets rattled too often. They better have Arch ready to go next week. Thank God it’s an 11am kick so we can get that shit over with.

Well since it’s a bye week that won’t be a problem

Why can’t we be like all those other teams playing perfectly flawless football week in and week out?

Oh shit I’m straight up trippin. Looking ahead on the schedule. Forgot about the second by week.

Fucking weird game. Just did everything we could to minimize our own success.  Between penalties, sacks and tip drill interceptions at the most inopportune times we made it way harder than it had to be.  Frustrating.

Facts. Three penalties in two weeks.

man there really are a lot of stupid takes on this thread

Should have punched it in from the 5 and gotten that pick 6 with no penalties to win 38-24

Not even in the top 20 for me, but it was pretty darn frustrating.

I bailed at the Vandy TD in the 3rd.  Went and hung out with the cat and cleaned the kitchen.  Didn't get the least but upset last week as I considered GA to be as good or better than TX.  Today, not so much.

I love a good story, but not at the expense of my Horns.  Pavia's prancing around after the 1st TD + the nonstop dicksucking by the announcers was pretty off putting.  Glad our D came to play.

whenever theres a feel good QB story against Texas in a close game, the announcers fucking go ALL IN on it.

remember the Baylor QB... Charlie Brewer story.... Grandpa and Dad both went to Texas, and mean old Texas didnt give him a scholly (we fucking offered him a preferred walkon, which isnt bullshit for a 3rd string QB)... and that ENTIRE Baylor game here 2 years ago was "Charlie wants revenge, Charlie playing with a chip on his shoulder, Brewer wants to win so bad and see theres his fucking family former longhorns now in green)

we're 3-1 in the SEC

With wins against Mississippi State, a historically shitty OU team, and Vanderbilt...

Look, the record could be a lot worse, but let's not act like Texas has beaten anyone worth a damn yet.

  • CSU (5-3, 3-0)
  • Michigan (4-3, 2-2)
  • UTSA (3-5, 1-3)
  • ULM (5-2, 3-1)
  • MSU (1-7, 0-5)
  • OU (4-4, 1-4)
  • VU (5-3, 2-2)
