That’s under $200k a game, which is fucking nothing. So they'll be taking a loss every game because I doubt they'll sell $200k worth of tickets to any game not played against the Yankees. How kind of them.

How kind of them. A few other teams have good attendance in TB. Red Sox are 1. What else do the yankees do with that stadium during the season? And Could they not, for the benefit of the community, just donated it? Nah....

The minor league team will play in another stadium that the Yankees own / within their system. IMO that’s why the rays have to pay as the Yankees farm system will need to absorb the cost / effort to put their single A team somewhere else.

The Tarpons will play on an auxiliary field at the Yankees spring training complex, which Steinbrenner field is a part of. That’s going to create issues also though because the Yankees FCL rookie ball team plays on that field. Basically the Yankees are bending over backwards to help out the Rays in a way no other organization would.

December 2, 20241 yr Manfred pondering trying to implement “golden at-bat” rule. One at-bat a game where a team can send any player they want to the plate. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5961016/2024/12/02/golden-at-bat-rule-mlb/ I love it personally. I know it’s not “traditional” but if you want to grow the game, get people excited, this would be a BIG draw. Who wants to watch Jose Trevino bat in the 9th with the bases loaded while Juan Soto sits on the bench? Edited December 2, 20241 yr by Helobious
December 2, 20241 yr They should have to use a solid gold bat. If they hit a HR, everyone in the stadium gets a gold ingot.

It just gets spread around to more mid tier guys than just being too heavy. NFLPA usually goes with it because the rank and file guys are the majority of votes and they get more money.

December 3, 20241 yr Send any player you want to the plate but they must use “their own stick”. Yordong will be our designated golden rod.
December 3, 20241 yr Author The earth-shaking signings have begun. Soto will probably sign soon, too.
December 3, 20241 yr What a shock Helob likes the worst proposed rule change in MLB history. Golden bat bullshit belongs in the sandlot not fucking MLB.

Oh & don't forget a little something for the building inspectors. Then there's long term costs such as waste disposal.
