Ponies, Panthers...

Jim Mora Playoffs GIF

Biggest game of the year in the ACC so far - and probably the biggest game SMU has played in 40 years. Winner has a good shot to make the CCG and play for the CFP but either team may still need tiebreaker help. Louisville could do everyone a favor and fuck up Clemson's season.

SMU -7

SMU goes straight down the field for 7 on the first possession.

7-0 Ponies.

Don’t have a great feeling about this one, even before that TD

Pitt didn't look comfortable with our speed on that series.

Ton of game left.

Didn't realize were going rogue with the game thread.  Ponies with the early lead.  This should be a good one.

Jennings throwing the ball like he's fuckin Brett Favre out there.

He does seem a little hyped up this evening.

This is some of the worst production quality I've ever seen for a ranked matchup.

Dammit, I should have gone.

I’m glad I didn’t go.

I didn’t feel good about this game. Not all week. In our last two games the offense has not done its share. SMU is playing at a quicker pace right now and we are not adjusting, not one bit.

They are just playing at a different speed than Pitt is tonight. We have guys tackling air out there. Like I said earlier, the offense for us has not been good the past two games. Last week the Pitt defense outscored Syracuse, AND it outscored the Pitt offense. They have to be a lot better, especially in a game against a really good SMU team.

Ponies get another TD and have plenty of separation.  Pitt is in a deep hole. 28-3

Cpt Obvious notes that Pitt's schedule is greatly back weighted to this part of the season.  No one coulda guessed that SMU would weigh into that.

I like you as a poster, but growing up in Dallas, SMU was my first favorite college team.

Had the SMU knit cap for the winter and my brother had the UT knit cap.

I was looking for anyone to go to the game, but friends were out of town, had charity events, had a wedding in Fort Worth, or at home due to illness/high school kids homecoming bullshit.

You obviously weren’t paying attention to NIL fund raising that was announced a week after SMU’s move to the ACC was announced.

Well, thanks. I have nothing against any SMU fans. It’s no skin off my back.

When we have sucked, I have admitted it. Tonight, we are playing horribly and SMU is the cause of that.

SMU is a damned good football team. And now that schools are basically allowed to pay money any school that chooses to, can play with the big boys. There is no reason to believe that SMU doesn’t have the money, or the “want to” to compete. They have in the past and can in the future.

The best thing about this game is seeing the stands completely full. This may be an attendance record for that stadium.

It’s great to see how far SMU has come! I remember playing in a mostly empty Cotton Bowl through the first game in Ford Stadium against KU.

I remember Memphis scoring 56 in the first half against us when I was in college.

My Dad and I watched Texas play the Ponies in the Cotton Bowl stadium, maybe two years after they resurrected their program, post death penalty. Man were they overmatched, as it looked like their SMU roster was filled with “walk ons.”

Glad to see them back over the last couple of decades. Some bowl teams here and there over that span. The ACC move was a huge get/accomplishment for them and SMU is taking full advantage of it!

Hook’em!!!
