I can't sleep.  Not because of what I expect to happen to my wife and me, but what a country we're leaving for my children.  My daughter moved to Oregon to get out of the misogynistic hell that is Texas so that she has access to sane medical care.  Now where will she go?  The economy that trump proposals will bring will prevent both she and my son from ever being able to do more than get by.  I have gay and trans family members who will now be subject to government harassment without protection.  I served in the Marine Corps to try to ensure that our country would be fair and free, just to see the electorate throw that all away.  Damn it all to hell.

They're still here after 4 years of Trump. They'll still be here 4 years from now. Relax.

4 years from now will be whatever.

Goddamn why are people so stupid.

I actually felt pretty good 8 years ago. 4 years ago was a shit show. Yes we got him out of office but what a nightmare.

And now he is back. So that sucks. And after his mob assaulted my cousin. So I took that a little personally.

And yeah it would be cool if four years from now something better happens.

But right now we are in the suck part. So it is what it is.

I am sure there is some zen way a smart person will feel about all of this and I am sure I am getting there. You seem very determined that everybody feel a certain way about things so maybe that will make you happy.

Nothing matters, detach yourself and go meditate or whatever.

We banked on Trump incompetence to victory in 2020, Project 2025 is a legit competent path to dictatorship

I'm interested in finding out what went wrong here. Dems seemingly put in serious work on the ground for this campaign, raised more money, had more enthusiasm, better GOTV, a high number of R defections voting for her, women caring about Dobbs(allegedly), etc Was there anything they could have done better? For any misstep you can pin on Kamala's campaign efforts I can probably point out 5 for Trump. Yet her were are. Were we always headed to this conclusion as a nation because it's just who we are now?

Also looking at the results for the Texas races for President/Senate has me wondering if some people who told me they were voting a certain way actually did.

Thank you for your service. That’s not cliché or meant facetiously tonight. I truly hope everything you served for will persevere into the future for many generations.

Their rights have been aggressively infringed upon in 1 Trump regime. Telling people to relax at the thought of another ???? years is reductionist bullshit.

Project 2025 is some fear mongering to get you riled up. It can't hurt you anymore.

Relax?  Fuck you.  They and many others are going to suffer needlessly, and you say relax?  My wife and I are looking at losing our Social Security and Medicare, and you say relax?  My 93 year old dad is looking at losing his SS and Medicare.  Relax?  Fuck you.  You obviously don't give a shit about anyone else.

This country is deeply misogynistic. Look no further than the football board to see how many mouth breathers roam free in polite society.

That is how I see it dude. This result kind of shows me what sort of country this is.

But I should relax and not care about anything I guess according to the posters here.  And granted that is pretty much what I was planning to do anyway for awhile. I feared this and I guess I am glad the whole traumatic shitshow of this election is over.

They aren't dumb enough to touch the SS and Medicare of current recipients.

Future recipients? We'll see.

When did Trump pass the Aggressive Anti-LGBT Rights Act? Must have missed that during his first term.

I hate young voters I really really do, its not their fault of course they could turn out like 65+ but they are such a tiny minority demographically, we needed a white guy as a candidate.

The cynic in me is extremely skeptical of this, mainly because there's way too much money to be made within the current system of American democracy.

A good amount of Germans also dismissed what a political party was saying straight to their fucking face as fear mongering.

There is way more money to be made in permanent dictatorship see Musk

He can't do it by himself and the people who have to help him do it run for re-election every two years.

By all means, run on taking benefits away from seniors.

The meme stock economy, it is the future of the Nasdaq my man.

Friend, I was responding to Scheiss first when you butted in. Hence the plural reference to their LGBT family members. It's not always about you.

Trump wanted to end obamacare and McCain stopped him in the senate, who is stopping him now?

By then it was too late, picking a woman VP was the first disaster, being soft on MAGA was disaster #2

Is he going to impose the tariffs that he has promised on the scale that he has committed to?

is RFK Jr going to be running various health agencies like we have heard?  The guy who believes in chemtrail bullshit and is old school anti-vax?

Need a charismatic Midwestern type that appeals to the swing states. Another California progressive probably doesn't fly. Shapiro might work.

Doesn't look great to me. It would be weird to gain seats in a blowout like this. Looks like we are somehow going to lose Nebraska-2 again.

But awhile to go on that one.

Again, you guys thinking that this won't be much different than the first go round are being purposely naive. He's a petty, vengeful, profoundly stupid man who just found out that, not only are there no consequences for his actions, he gets richly rewarded for them. He now (rightfully) thinks the the majority of America wants him to enact his wildest desires. Do you think his comments about finding generals who would just obey is just more Trump speak? What about RFKjr running the CDC, among many other institutions? Anyone who he can appoint will absolutely be a loyalist, qualifications be damned.

Sure, our institutions will probably hold, and Trump co. is lazy, old, and incompetent. There will be a new President in 2028. But it's sure as shit not going to be business as usual.
