Because people generally can't connect the dots like that. I don't blame people for feeling economic pain, blaming whoever is in power, and voting accordingly. It's what we do.

I blame people for being dumbasses who can't connect dots. Don't give people a pass for stupidity. Very little of the economy at any given time has been influenced in any way by the current president, and it's an intellectually lazy way to decide how to vote.

This was a complete domination. Republicans have the house, senate, courts and executive in a popular vote. That means more people around you want this.

If you don't like what that means that's a you problem. Stop blaming everyone else for how they voted. You have a problem with everyone around yourself. Solve that problem or don't.

A lot of people in here are pearl clutching and all talk. If you don't like it, turn off the government's revenue and quit your job working for whoever. If you want to show them how ruined the economy is under Trump ruin the economy around yourself first. If you are truly principled and have courage to fight for what you believe make a plan now on how you will be a part of the peaceful revolution and do it when Trump is president. Brain drain, lack of workers to do work, industrial collapse and stagnation are all things that are possible if everyone decided they've had enough without bloodshed that force a hard reset. There is no soft landing that includes an America that still has Billionaires that are so rich they make other billionaires look poor. All you have to do is be willing to give up everything to build it all back after the revolution.

The reality is none of you have had enough to get to this point. There are posters here who lament billionaires, policies that support incingruent behavior with their beliefs and yet still take their paycheck every month from companies and the people that run them that ARE THE FUCKING PROBLEM. You all praise the same capitalist principles and when faced with the reality of personal sacrifice or economic impact everyone is doing the same thing, just working and trying to say your work doesn't contribute to the problem why shouldn't you be able to make money. YOU ARE ENTITLES TO YOUR AMERICAN LIFESTYLE.

This is what happens to people when nothing is more important than money. You lose the ability of accountability because you are desperately attached in a symbiotic relationship with the American Rot Economy.

I've put my money where my mouth is. I left a job that paid an obscene amount of money in industry to forge a path for myself based on principles I believe in and actually giving a shit about moving the economy, technology and people forward and upward instead of just grifting and accepting my share of the ransack. You know what I've found since? That no one cares, no one believes in American Innovation anymore, no one believes in doing the right thing because it's too hard. Its a lot easier to just shut the fuck up, and do what the bosses tell you even though you know it adds no value or is damaging to your customers or the broader economy.

Ive found that greed and equity markets are at all time highs. The American Consumer is addicted to its debt fueled spending mania. The real reason things are the way they are is peoples addiction to late stage rot economy. You don't need a visionary leader to live that kind of life.

A strong majority of people on this site can't even be bothered to pay for it. I pour immense amounts of time, money and effort into community building, yet the community insists on destroying itself. What's the point?

I'm telling you to make a real fucking plan if you think this is that bad or shut the fuck up and try to limit the impact around you with your own subsidy out of your own pocket.

No one is coming to save you, you just save yourself, the American way.

Just to be clear, I voted all blue down the line.  I just understand that my opinion is the minority.  By a lot.  The choice we have is to work with it or give up and leave.  I think I’m just going to ride it out in my quiet corner of the country.  I’m going to get everything set up for a quick exit just in case though.

Oh for fuck's sake.  It had nothing to do with her sex or color and everything to do with her policies and constant bobbing and weaving on issues.  She would not answer basic questions to the American public.  She wouldn't even take a position on Prop 36 (Anti-Crime Proposition), a proposition that was approved by 70% of voters in the Peoples Republic of California.

What, that the American electorate is hateful and stupid?

The Dems miscalculated that if you run on the principle of preserving democracy, maybe you shouldn’t run with a candidate who back doored their way into the nomination.

This guy gets it.

The Dem mainstream made huge errors.  Look at the state initiatives.  In every case Voter ID initiatives passed with huge margins, don in the 80’s, which is unheard of.  A ton of Harris voters want this.  The lack of Dem backbone to support voter ID like every other nation has imbued a huge lack of trust.  How do you not support the law?

same with illegal immigration  and border security.  Dems have mistaken border security as an antiimmgration which alienates lots of legal immigrants who did it right.  Most folks want increased legal immigration.

dems failed to see that their key constituents are the ones suffering the most from inflation, increased rents, and lagging wages.  They want real solutions and Dems are too busy embracing Palestinians, trans folks, and Ukrainians.  She was a terrible candidate as she was an unpopular VP among a lot of Dems.  She lost ground with every key Dem demographic.  She failed to increase a vote in any county vs Biden.  Has zero to do with her being a woman, her race, etc.  she lost because she’s out of touch.

It was her race and gender. You don’t want to admit that because you know how it looks.

He won't. In fact, if they put their plans into place, crashing the US economy like Elon said they would, then things will get a lot worse for a whole lot of people. But they are too fucking stupid to understand what is at stake economically.

Correct, but there are tens of millions of people like yourself who were voting red no matter what this year, and retroactively trying to reconcile that with candidate choice is a waste of time for everyone involved.

I don't necessary disagree with any of this, though you certainly take a lot of liberties. But then how a moderate can turn around and convince themselves that Trump is "in touch" is way beyond me.

There's a double standard for Democrat and Republic candidates, and I suspect that's not likely to go away.

This.  No one in the media will say it gender was a factor.  (Not THE factor.)  There is misogyny across the political spectrum.  The Hillary people said in 2016 it was a 3-5 point drag and that's a big deal in a national race.  There are voters out there who voted for a great male candidate in Obama, an unknown candidate in Trump, a mediocre candidate in Biden, and a crazy candidate in Trump.  The only variable is gender.

Jesus yall are giving the average voter wayyyyy too much credit. the average voter doesnt follow “the dems did this” or “the GOP did that.”

people voted based on two things:

1) their wallet (read:cost of goods)

2) people in this country just dont want a woman in charge, let alone a mixed race half black one

It has nothing to do with “so and so didnt hit this issue hard enough,” or “they shoulda campaigned more in this state.”

I think you are in a bit of a mania right now and you need to focus on yourself rather than trying to make everyone around you feel the same way as you do. Everyone didn't hear it before last night they won't hear it today.

Predicting the future is part of the problem, the future happens one day at a time not 12 weeks or 2 years or 4 years at a time. What are you doing for tomorrow to be better than today? If the answer is nothing then why do you expect it to be better?

here is what I am going to do. I am going to be quiet. I am going to listen. I am going to observe. I am going to learn. I am going to protect the vulnerable and the ones who need my help. and then I am going to do every single thing I can to support our country.

This is what the American people wanted. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe they are right. Let's see what happens.

It’s mostly blue collar outdoor libertarian types who put Sheehy in office.  Most of the millionaires in the state are people like me and my family who don’t vote there.   His campaign did a good job of highlighting the truth about Tester and how he votes with Schumer.

The tv ads were brutal on both sides.  I’m curious on how much money was spent per vote.  Had to be a record for a senate race.
