The admin has completely paused issuances of new student visas while they roll out what is being billed as enhanced social media vetting.  Per the reporting, even after the new system is rolled out, embassies will be encouraged to “consider” the impact of the new workload before opening new visa slots.  Between the lines: don’t try to issue too many.

Also today.  This is poorly written. Is this inclusive of all Chinese students? Just the ones with CCP connections and critical fields?  The latter is long overdue but this rollout is going to be needlessly stupid and mean.

I just saw a clip of her on The Weeknight.  I didn't realize she spoke MAGA style at the RNC convention.  Holy shit she's bad news.

Spoiler

But still cute

I think it's poorly written because it stopped after "students," and then someone realized that was probably unconstitutional.

I am a bit doubtful on that front.  The “Muslim Ban” (which was really nationality targeted) was far more broadly prohibitive of travel so I don’t see a challenge to the President deciding that PRC citizens can’t be issued or maintain student visas. SCOTUS ruled that a nationality visa ban was within POTUS’ authority under INA. The poor writing is more likely just deliberate wriggle room and to encourage self-removal in advance.

What could possibly go wrong.

BREAKING: In a serious blow to US pandemic flu preparedness, HHS has cancelled a contract with Moderna to test and license prototype vaccines for #H5N1 #birdflu and other potential pandemic viruses. well color me surprised. Trump rewarded Bove for being a spineless yes man with a nomination to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. i expect to see more government cases filed within the Third Circuit so they can be rubberstamped on appeal.

Seeing as Emil Bove personally fired me from DOJ in retaliation for prosecuting January 6 rioters, I don’t think he should be confirmed to a lifetime seat as a federal judge. But that’s just me. [contains quote post or other embedded content]

Feels like it’s time for torchys to have a trump named taco of the month. Chicken, of course.  Maybe an Asian inspired orange chicken taco.

The worst part of his letting criminals go free is they will no longer have to abide by agreements that compelled them to pay back the millions they stole from victims. They’re getting off scot free.

i've often dreamed that some decent golfer would challenge 15 time club champion Donald Trump to a match play competition for $1 million bucks.  challenge him in front of tv cameras.  and when Trump said no (since he doesn't want to be exposed as a cheating fraud), then the golfer who made the challenge started doing the Arrested Development chicken dances.

i'm a simple man.

How can that be a thing?  Countries can tariff whatever they want. And they will suffer the consequences.

They’ll never be the same!

also, it’s the federal court of international trade, not an international court of trade.

Their reply should be on day 29 to file a lawsuit against the government and publicize the hell out of it.

They should set up a Harvard branded taco truck outside the White House.

It's all fun and games until Trump announces a Taco Ban. The public has sat back while Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Due process, and privacy rights have been assaulted. We shall finally see an uprising if tacos are taken away.

Look at this fucking drivel.

https://steube.house.gov/press-releases/rep-steube-introduces-make-autorail-great-again-act-to-rebrand-dc-metrorail-as-wmaga-and-trump-train/

“WMATA has received billions in federal assistance over the years and continues to face operational, safety, and fiscal challenges,” said Rep. Steube. “In the spirit of DOGE, this bill demands accountability by conditioning federal funding on reforms that signal a cultural shift away from bureaucratic stagnation toward public-facing excellence and patriotism.”

Rebranding WMATA as WMAGA and the rail system as the Trump Train represents more than a name change; it is a mandate for performance and transformation. “Like any struggling institution, WMATA needs a fresh identity that aligns with efficiency, service quality, and renewed public trust. These new names serve as a bold rallying point for much-needed reform,” Steube added.
