Your overall point is 100% on point, but, and I know you aren’t literally making claims about the named players politics, Cunningham’s family probably doesn’t fit the mold.

His dad ran for office as a democrat and with his stepmom, Aimee, have donated high six figures to Democrats candidates over the years. They were a big enough deal to host a massive fundraiser dinner in their home that was attended in person by Obama.

Your point stands though, because o think they are the outliers.

* I only learned this stuff because Aimee was at my table when I was doing volunteer lawyer stuff for the 2018 midterms on Election Day. It’s crazy to go back that place mentally and recall the sheer enthusiasm, energy and belief we all had. The rest is just a bunch of disappointment and rage really.

ETA: She was super low key. Just sitting a a table of volunteers taking calls like everyone else. I only thought to look her up when Justin Nelson, the AG candidate walked over and just casually invited her to fly with him and his crew that night to El Paso to watch the returns with Beto and his family. I was like…”this lady seems like a big deal.”

She actually declined the invite because Brock had a game that night.

that actually is a cool story bro, and informative. thanks for sharing.

I’m sure we have the same goals for making sure a certain fidelity to truth accompanies the news, I’m just trying to correct this conclusion that media consolidation is to blame.  It’s a little like blaming horse and buggy manufacturer consolidation when the internal combustion auto has become popular.  Who cares if there’s only two options for yesterday’s tech?

In large part social media is shaping popular consensus, the national agenda, and it’s where most marketing dollars are going, political and otherwise.  If you’re worried about Disney pulling Kimmel off the air and that depriving his 1.6 million viewers of his anti-Trump views, you’re missing Theo Vonn’s 4.6 million YouTube subscribers and many more listeners of his podcast.

Also, the reason I’m belaboring this is because it’s probably better than 50% of the reason the Dems lost in 2024.  They have been habituated to mainstream media and that’s not where the majority of  media consumers are anymore.

You bring up interesting points and I appreciate you taking the time.  My concern with Kimmel isn’t or wasn’t the number of viewers.  My concern is with the FCC threatening dissent in a manner similar to a mob boss.  As uh, Ted Cruz pointed out. And of course our coarse president gleefully using the government to go after his personal enemies.

The point to the media in general is they should be screaming every day about how not normal this all is.  But for the most part they won’t because that’s not what ownership wants.

you paying attention, Scottie?

Does anyone else think it is absolutely fucking insane that the President last week said that it is illegal to criticize him, and that it is not protected free speech? I mean that really happened. For the guy who ran partly on bringing back free speech, and who declared earlier that he personally had brought back free speech to America.

He didn't say it "should be" illegal, he said it "IS" illegal, and not protected speech. Not much of a news story, though.

Let me put my cynic hat on: Is it really news coming from Donald Trump?

For the love of god, I would just like one reporter to ask him "If that's true, then shouldn't you be in jail for your past comments on Obama and Biden?" (I mean in addition to all of his various felonies and raping adventures)

No one has ever accused MAGA of being smart.

Hi there,

My name is Brian Sauvé, and I’m pastor to Refuge Church, husband to Lexy, and father to seven kiddos. Here at this site, you’ll find me writing, preaching, podcasting, and making music for the new Christendom.

I’m Reformed and Protestant, Paedobaptist, Postmillennial, and Patriarchal—and several other things that tend to bother the good people of Twitter dot com. But I’m sure all of you are cool.

Trump probably had to bring Barron in to delete it for him, since he’s a computer genius and all.

I've never been in a French whorehouse, but the oval office is always what I imagined one would look like

It's the modesty, humility, and the total lack of any overcompensating for *something* that I enjoy.

In the town I grew up in, there was a funeral home.  Longtime residents of the town owned it (and a part of it was their home as well), and when I started going to funerals or visitation with the parents, when I was 12 or 13, I started taking note of some of the decor.

Holy shit, was it over the top.  Lots of gold stuff, china on display, tapestries, etc.  Just a lot of stuff that looked out of place at a funeral home in a town of 1500.  The wife of the owner did all the decorating, and it was pretty garish, looking back.

Yet the Oval Office in present state looks worse.

Someone told him it was 24k gold and charged a mint for all that crap and then went to homedepot.com and bought it for $84 (pre-tariff) / $252 (post tariff).

I get so fucking sick of this shit and wish other people were more capable of taking on these blowhards.   Near the end when she's doing her "free speech" and "public space" bullshit, it just pisses me off.

Starbuck's is perfectly within their rights to tell you to shut the fuck up.   And a business is not a public space (generally).  I really wish I was sitting there when this POS started it.

CBS is hyping a 60 Minutes story on Dana White (UFC).  I'm guessing this is a Trump Admin mandate.

He still has to wear the crown of thorns in the afterlife? That was almost 2000 years ago. He could probably take it off now if he wanted to.

"The Trump administration isn’t only targeting organizations or groups but even individuals and “entities” whom NSPM-7 says can be identified by any of the following “indicia” (indicators) of violence:

Yeah, there's no way this goverment doesn't abuse it:

  • hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family,

  • hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on religion, and

  • hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on morality.

Just torch that first amendment.

Yeah, that's pretty damn bad. Wow.

Naah.  What's important is that every Trumper supports this.  They were all about "FREE SPEECH" -- fuck, you heard them wailing and rending their garments in idol-like worship of Charlie Kirk as a super-duper American God Champion of Free Speech just a coupla weeks ago.  But they'll be fine with this.  Or, they'll say "gee, I don't really support that....but I'm still gonna support 100% Trump and every Republican who swears allegiance to him [so....that's every Republican]."  See, e.g., @Enchubben.
