"The one-time cop is one of those rare liberals in rural Middle Tennessee..."

https://www.newschannel5.com/news/newschannel-5-investigates/tennessee-sheriff-defends-jailing-liberal-activist-for-posting-trump-meme-about-school-shooting

This isn't to disparage the motivations of Bushart, but only to illustrate social dynamics (I was going to say "small town" dynamics, but it's far from exclusive) of the "why don't good cops do something?"

CSB Time cliff notes, 100 percent guaranteed to not be accurate on details, as it's my brain recollecting-

I used to work for a trucking company that subcontracted with Union Pacific, hauling off rail, ties, and old track material being replaced for maintenence.

It was not uncommon for the locals to snatch recyclable stockpiles cuz we can only do so much so fast (and really niche, so figured company's getting paid) and hey! Free Shit for peeps who grew up on Dukes of Hazard.

Anyways, my boss comes across one of stockpiles in East Texas that he was about to load on a truck and it's getting pilfered.

"Hey! That's not yours!" (direct quote, probably)

Dude drives off.

Boss: Whatever

Sheriff car pulls up- " Hey! Was that guy stealing your shit?"

Boss: "Yeah, but it's no big deal"

Sheriff: "AW HELL NAW! He ain't getting away with that shit!!!"

*short flash forward*

The Sheriff, the thief, the judge (who all probably knew each other from high school) and my boss are in a courtroom with the judge asking my boss how he wants to handle this on the dl.

Boss: I dunno, I'm  kinda scared and just wanna get outta here.

Somehow a deal was worked out that involved my boss getting some hunting dogs from the thief.

*flash forward years later when my boss came back to the site for some more track maintenence*

*Sheriff car pulls up, window rolls down*

Thief: Guess who's the the new sheriff now?

The Point- While Bushart is in the right, he probably fucked Weems' girlfriend in high school too.

Team Bushart

I’m sure it’s fine.

He’s doing his best to normalize this crap:

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/quick-reaction-national-guard-forces-be-trained-civil-disturbances-by-2026-us-2025-10-29/

WASHINGTON, Oct 29 (Reuters) - The National Guard is planning to train hundreds of troops in each state to be part of a rapid-response force focused on civil disturbance missions by the start of next year, two U.S. officials said on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump has increasingly embraced using the military to support his domestic agenda, including deploying troops to Democratic-led cities like Los Angeles; Portland, Oregon, and Washington, D.C.

Can’t imagine any foreign country, ally or not, would agree to build important military assets here right now.

We can't build enough nuclear subs for our own needs, let alone another country's needs. See AUKUS.

Really hate defending the idiot in chief, but out of curiosity looked and based on the aircraft carrier and other ships in the google map image of the Philadelphia shipyard, this one actually could be legit.

That said...but why?

That shot won him first place and the club championship.  Granted the other participants were all arrested by ICE, whereabouts unknown.

Having served up several +58 rounds, i think it's terrible.

I'm no golfer, but is +58 for the whole 36 holes? I guess that's not terrible. I guess that's 26 pars and 22 bogeys?

I'm no golfer, either. Which is why I know what +58 looks like.

How do you have 48 scores over 36 holes?

you play 36 holes and you bogey all of them, you are +36 total. You bogey half and double the other half, you are at +54 and your scorecard looks like mine.

The shipyard closed in 1995. It also did not build any nuclear powered ships.

Not from what I'm finding...

Established in 1997, Philly Shipyard supplies around 50% of the largest U.S. commercial vessels, including tankers and container ships.

then last year, a Korean company purchased it...

Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Ocean announced the acquisition of Philly Shipyard, a leading U.S. shipbuilder that has delivered approximately half of the large U.S. Jones Act commercial ships in the United States since 2000. Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Ocean will together invest $100 million to acquire Philly Shipyard to further their strategies to expand their global defense and shipbuilding activities.

I think the distinction is it is no longer a naval shipyard and hasn't been since ~2000, that's what the reply tweet was getting at. It's been a commercial shipyard since. Not that you build a nuclear sub in a naval shipyard anyways so the reply tweet was, unfortunately, misleading at best.

There are only two shipyards in the US that build nuclear subs and neither are in Philly.

So basically, everyone was wrong.

Newport News, but Electric Boat has been the primary builder of US nuclear submarines in Groton, CT and Newport, RI.

Electric Boat tried to buy NN, but antitrust concerns prevented it.

That said, again for "fairness" or antitrust reasons, assemblies of subs are contracted out to various facilities.

I assume that the Philadelphia facility would only build subassemblies.

I’m pretty sure at some point in the near future, Dotard will declare that we are in a Civil War. Like Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy.

And every single one of the Jade Helm No Gestapo in Bastropo types will masturbate furiously to.....EXACTLY what they were complaining about back then.

Every "constitution-loving, liberty-loving" conservative is actually a simpering fucking liar.  They love neither.  Tread on me, daddy.

Also Trump orchestrating a fake civil war will really piss me off because it will only remind me of how divisive Obama was.

This makes me think. There has to be a huge (TMZ-esque, million dollars for photos paparazzi snaps of like Michael Jackson's baby so People magazine can publish it first, type huge) market for some real uncut footage of Dotard.

Imagine getting a drone and sneakily filming him actually paying golf and getting 3 hours and 18 holes of footage. You could retire on that tape.

I had a job offer from Electric Boat, so I went to Groton to talk with various managers, etc.  Calling Groton a shithole would be an insults to shitholes everywhere.  Yikes.  Hard pass.

Connecticut is pretty interesting.  People don't think of it that way, but coastal New England is really its own rust belt.  Shipbuilding and allied heavy industry that's fallen apart, leaving the economy in ruins save fishing, which has its own problems.  Beautiful though.

Google maps makes it seem alright today. Weekends also look pretty nice being 3hrs from NYC, 1 from Providence, 2 to Boston, 3 to the Hamptons, 3 to Martha's Vineyard, 4 to Philadelphia, etc...

It would take me a few years to get through all of that.
