If you picked up the Founding Fathers in a time machine and brought them to present day, it would take about 5 minutes of deliberation for them to tar & feather and string up Trump.

Eh they may tar and feather and string him up simply for what a douchebag he is but, and you don't have to agree with this guy, he does bring up some interesting points with respect to what he calls the "trap" of invoking the founders/framers in today's present set of circumstances (never mind the fact that well before they got to the later comment about a black man being president the technology of the present day would likely give them a coronary from the shock of it all if they were just dropped into it)

Well that seems ok.  More to the point, how many swastikas and nooses are making appearances in the Coast Guard that this needed to be addressed?

It’s probably more so they can hire Nazis into the coast guard

I've said before, the only way this ends other than him keeling over from a Big Mac is for him to issue an illegal order to the military and for the Generals to say no and to detain him for violating his oath of office.

There is 0% of this happening. I’ve heard from friends in the military that certain sr leaders are saying Trump’s SCOTUS immunity case means that he is incapable of giving an “illegal order”, and ipso facto, smash the murder button.

Immune from consequences doesn’t make it legal. People being granted immunity for testimony doesn’t make their deeds now legal.

Exactly.  And POTUS may have that immunity, but the rest of em don't.

Oh I know. I didn’t say it was correct, but rather just pointing out how scary it is within parts of the military that they will literally do/justify anything

He was all in on the hanging of his VP so this isn’t surprising at all.

These things happen.

Well, I'm thinking that after today....more will.

This is 100% so the military can recruit and sign on open white supremacists and nazis.  Hell, they're gonna turn this movie image into a recruiting poster:

Screen-Shot-2019-05-27-at-15.32.08.png

...both because it's nazi, AND because it's somewhat homoerotic, and thus falls entirely into Hegseth's wheelhouse.

Next Coast Guard operation name: "Operation Turgid Rod"

I still have some hope that at the highest levels there is sufficient devotion to the job that they would reject blatantly illegal orders and as has been said immunity doesn't make it lawful which in some respects should weigh towards refusing to follow the illegal order because once it's been acted upon yeah the president is then likely immune from murder charges while the soldiers might not be. It's a small hope but more hope than anything else, including that I have zero hope whatsoever that the electorate in this stupid fucking country will do anything to end this bullshit. A few elections here and there and polls mean jack shit, especially after 2024.

It's somewhat believable when the Dems are in the majority.   But they are not, and who are we kidding, there are people that will take out a 3rd mortgage to fork over some cash:

It’s more proof this is all a work to people like Johnson

let’s pass the bill “unanimously” wink wink. Then those gosh darn Senators go and put some gall dern amendments in and now aren’t we in a pickle!

Donating to politicians might as well be wagering for all the rich returns you get, but not exactly the same thing.

Yeah, that's not gambling/wagering. That's just straight up bribery.

Sure.  But they'd also look around and ask, "Why do so many black people own homes, have jobs, and vote?"

Some good news.

Not sure about the Supreme Court case, but it is pretty clear that the factual predicates for ICE violence in Chicago are bullshit.

But this indicates that the charges will be dismissed against Marimar Martinez, who they shot, and Anthony Ruiz, who was also arrested.

Maybe I’m giving the Dems too much credit, but could the video to the military on illegal orders finally be the Dems playing offense and poking the bear to get a rise out of Dotard?

That video wasn’t reactionary to a specific event but rather just an amalgamation of shit the last 10 months, they had to know they’d get a reaction.

I not only have that hope, I'm actually confident of it. The typical high-ranking military officer is very well educated (unlike Trump), with multiple master's degrees, and is steeped in military history, international affairs, and all manner of other leadership, ethics, legal, philosophical, strategy & tactics, and other training. They're serious professionals who take their oaths seriously. Of course there are always exceptions, but I believe this to be true of the overwhelming majority.

I feel the exact same way and I’m a firm believer that no one else is going to do jack shit about all this.

Hasn't he purged a bunch of the high-ranking officers that might have been that stop-gap?

Yep, but I would think there are still a lot around who have been smart enough not to wear their hearts on their sleeves and get shitcanned. But who knows ...

Meant to post this here and not about the economy.  I don't know anything about these people but I thought it was funny....

I only know Andrew Wilson from the last time he got dunked on one of these for being unable to open a jar that a black person handed him

That’s what I’m thinking, and I really hope they started considering this possible necessity when Dotard and Drunktard called them to Washington and acted like a bunch of cosplay clowns with zero understanding of military ethos.

Did Trump offer something in order to induce someone else to do something?

Then he was lying, with no intention of delivering.

Doesn't matter what we're talking about, both sentences above are 100% true, 100% of the time.
