It’s gonna be a high of like 25, low of 10 and sunny. Yeah it’s cold, but it’s not THAT fucking cold. If you’re going to DC in January, you should have coats and scarves and shit. There’s something else to this being moved indoors other than it being cold

I sure hope there’s no sheets of freezing rain or sleet that form all over DC during the installation. Would really hate to see it.

A quick search on Coinbase shows dozens, if not hundreds, of trump cryptocurrencies. Each one dumber than the next, and none of them worth more than several thousandths of a dollar. It’s all so stupid.

The wind chill at the 2009 inauguration for Barack Obama was about 14°F. He, his wife, and young daughters didn’t run inside the Capitol Rotunda, they just wore coats.🤷🏾‍♂️

I get weather, but does anybody think this guy doesn't deep down know how piss poor attendance was at his last inauguration or that he didn't see how many of his rallies were very poorly attended.  He won because people are stupid and lazy but he hasn't exactly engendered huge in-person showings of support in a long time.  He can blame the weather and whine forever about it that things would have been YUGE if not for that nasty woman Mother Nature.

His mental insecurity may be large and a primary driver for his actions, but he and his family are fucking slumlords so it's only natural he's going to evict the prior tenants out into the cold and hold a four year plus firesale with all the possessions therein. Bankruptcy, grift, and delaying lawsuits has always been his wheelhouse. We get the bill and he gets the $$$. Isn't that what makes America great again?

MAGA in DC just being told that Trump just said the inauguration will now be inside: “So we’re not gonna see it in person? I don’t like it. We came all the way from OK. We might as well stayed home & watched it on TV. It sucks. We have farms. We don’t get to not feed the cows cause it’s cold.”

That couldn't be a more appropriate way to start his Presidency, leaving his supporters out in the cold. Just like spending election night isolated at Mar a Lago

Cold temps reduce blood flow to the extremities, so these Diabetic Dougs are going to have some fun times if they are stuck in SRO seating out in the elements.  I wish them nothing but pain and suffering.

1. Dropping a meme coin 2 days before entering office2. Being “forced” to divest your holdings 1 day before entering office “to avoid conflicts of interest”3. Then, on the first day of your presidency, appointing the head of the agency that regulates these very assets…

Donald Trump has said he is likely to sign an executive order on Monday to give TikTok a 90 day extension.(via: @yashar)

On the TikTok thing ... I am going to try to apply some logic to this situation which I am honestly hesitant to do, but here goes.

TikTok is going dark because we have A LAW against it.  We also have the first amendment, but set that aside like the Supremes just did.  TikTok, as of tomorrow, is not legal in the United States.  The law specifically calls out ByteDance and TikTok.  The law gives the President the power to both designate new apps as "foreign adversary controlled" and determine that a foreign adversary controlled app is no longer controlled by a foreign adversary.

The Supreme Court has just determined that this law is constitutional.

Trump is taking an oath on Monday to faithfully execute the office of President.  Part of the job description as stated in the Constitution is to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed."

Where does he get the 90 day thing?

We are a nation of laws.  We have a law banning TikTok that goes in to effect on Sunday, our highest court has said it's constitutional, and we have a new guy on Monday that is responsible for executing the laws.  He should not get to take an oath in the morning to do his job and then later in the day pick and choose which laws are OK and which should be suspended for 90 days.

I'm not in favor of the TikTok ban but it's the current law of the land and he's the guy responsible for enforcing it, whether he likes it or not.

A part of the law is that the President can issue a 90 day suspension in the event an agreement is close to sell it from ByteDance to an American company.

The technical answers are:

a) the Supreme Court did not actually decide that the law was constitutional, but in a "shadow docket" decision decided that it was "constitutional enough" not to be enjoined pending the real appeal on the merits

b) the "take care" clause generally permits some leeway or discretion in enforcing or otherwise carrying out laws, short of outright defiance

Finally, there's little mechanism for enforcing the take care clause, other than impeachment.  Finding standing to assert that the 90-day executive order violates the take care clause would be difficult and would certainly not conclude before it became moot.

The other big question on Tik Tok is why the fuck Byte Dance isn't offshoring itself from the PRC with all deliberate speed.

That may tell you all you need to know, right there.

I looked, and didn't see it, although maybe this isn't the correct text:

However I am not a lawyer so perhaps it's in there in some way I don't understand.
