This is the most ridiculous shit ever. Google a d Facebook collect about 1000x more info on people than byte dance.

But some old puny piece of shit is going to make a law about things they know nothing about…

Meanwhile the richest person in human history, who has his hand up Trump’s ass is releasing private DMs from the platform he owns of convos with a game streamer he is having a spat with who said he wasn’t a L33T gamer.

It’s fucking madness

On the TikTok thing ... I am going to try to apply some logic to this situation which I am honestly hesitant to do, but here goes.

TikTok is going dark because we have A LAW against it.  We also have the first amendment, but set that aside like the Supremes just did.  TikTok, as of tomorrow, is not legal in the United States.  The law specifically calls out ByteDance and TikTok.  The law gives the President the power to both designate new apps as "foreign adversary controlled" and determine that a foreign adversary controlled app is no longer controlled by a foreign adversary.

The Supreme Court has just determined that this law is constitutional.

Trump is taking an oath on Monday to faithfully execute the office of President.  Part of the job description as stated in the Constitution is to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed."

Where does he get the 90 day thing?

We are a nation of laws.  We have a law banning TikTok that goes in to effect on Sunday, our highest court has said it's constitutional, and we have a new guy on Monday that is responsible for executing the laws.  He should not get to take an oath in the morning to do his job and then later in the day pick and choose which laws are OK and which should be suspended for 90 days.

I'm not in favor of the TikTok ban but it's the current law of the land and he's the guy responsible for enforcing it, whether he likes it or not.

Is he going to swear an oath? He shouldn’t. It will be meaningless just like it was the last time. He won’t honor it. We all know that.

I looked, and didn't see it, although maybe this isn't the correct text:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/7521/text

However I am not a lawyer so perhaps it's in there in some way I don't understand.

Weird law, I can't quite figure it out.  Most federal laws end up codified into US Code ("U.S.C.") and part of it is here, at 15 USC 9901. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/9901

But parts of it specific to TikTok don't seem to have been codified yet and can be found here, in the general statutes. https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/PLAW-118publ50/pdf/PLAW-118publ50.pdf around p. 66.

Today Trump will take credit for The Commander’s playoff win and on day one will issue an Executive Order to change their name back to The Redskins.

MAGA in DC just being told that Trump just said the inauguration will now be inside: “So we’re not gonna see it in person? I don’t like it. We came all the way from OK. We might as well stayed home & watched it on TV. It sucks. We have farms. We don’t get to not feed the cows cause it’s cold.”

Get used to being let down you dumb mothefuckers!

A family member just accepted a lawdog job with ICE on the not southern border. Not a MAGA. This should prove interesting.

Schedule for tomorrow. I love the theme.

  • the procession to the Capitol;
  • the vice president's swearing-in ceremony;
  • the president's swearing-in ceremony;
  • the inaugural address;
  • the honorary departure of the outgoing president and vice president;
  • the signing ceremony, during which the new president signs nominations, memorandums, proclamations or executive orders;
  • the inaugural luncheon;
  • and the pass in review, during which the president and vice president review military troops before leading the parade down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.

The theme of this year's ceremonies is "Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise."

When Trump "saves Tik Tok" on Tuesday after being the guy who called for it to be banned just a few short years ago and then somehow ends up with a stake in the new company who owns it, it will be just yet another masterclass in how he's able to snow both the media and the public while keeping his eternal grift going.

Yea! More brain rot for our youth who will now see Trump as the person who saved their Tik Tok when this was all a stunt.

Meanwhile, Tom Cotton is not happy with it so maybe there will be some Senators with spines for a short little while.

Sen. Tom Cotton is saying point-blank Trump does not have the legal authority to extend the start date of a law that has already taken effect under TikTok ban statute.

Trump isn't even sworn in yet.

But, Cotton surprised me here.  He'll get back in line soon enough.

So, apparently, Tik Tok went dark yesterday as a result of the ruling.

Today, it is back and crediting Trump for bringing it back.

This is the worst fucking timeline.

Good, Tom, fucking impeach him.  Unfortunately, Congress can jawbone about this until they're blue in the face, but there's little legal recourse.

When Trump ends up owning a portion of Tik Tok, that will be peak grift.

Could be in the leopards eating faces thread since Trump has said all along he is allowed to do whatever he wants and doesn’t believe in democracy.

i wonder who's going to have a more difficult time...

TikTok fans who detest Trump or Trump fans who supported the ban bc he said so.

oh who am i kidding...the latter group will experience no conflict whatsoever bc they literally live immersed in cognitive dissonance. if their god says it's so then it is so.

the first group though... that's a lot of young and creative folks. including my niece who would fucking stab Trump if given the chance lol. he lost the <40 demo by a lot (especially <25)... despite somebody apparently telling him he won young people 'by 34 points' 😆

perhaps misplaced, but i do put a bit more faith in the younger folks (at least those i know) being able to grasp nuance in this situation and understand this is pure manipulation. i mean... he's literally been saying exactly that for the past several days! but the maga folks have demonstrated again and again they are too stupid to ever get it, they embrace being manipulated.

shit is seriously bonkers and it's just getting started 😜
