Goddammit.  And I knew it, too, while seeing them.  I harbored some faint hope that people would see through it, but no.

Yep. First time I saw one, I audibly uttered, "Fuuuuck." A brilliant commercial/message. Hateful, manipulative, dishonest, transparent as fuck...but absolutely brilliant for the intended audience in 2024.

Yuuuup.  Damn.  They were also cagey as fuck, the hatefulness was just barely concealed beneath the surface of the ads.  Not you and too liberal.

And Americans can now get fatter and deeper in debt all at the same time

DoorDash and Klarna have signed a deal where customers can choose to pay for food deliveries in interest-free installments or deferred options aligned with payday schedules.

Now instead of paying up front you can park that $40 in SPY and lose 8% a month!

True.  The only crime you can’t accuse him of is inauthenticity.  Impossible to imagine any other chud GOP figure loudly proclaiming how much he loves musical theatre.  He’s rewarded it.  Sometimes I just sit in awe of it.

We absolutely are going to have a recession sparked by sub-prime burrito loans spread across different CDOs. It’s coming.

If you take an interest free loan to buy fast food, will the IRS impute interest? Assuming the IRS still has employees, of course.

What could possibly go wrong.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/20/us/politics/musk-pentagon-briefing-china-war-plan.html

Quote

The Pentagon is scheduled on Friday to brief Elon Musk on the U.S. military’s plan for any war that might break out with China, two U.S. officials said on Thursday.

Another official said the briefing will be China focused, without providing additional details. A fourth official confirmed Mr. Musk was to be at the Pentagon on Friday, but offered no details.

Quote

Providing Mr. Musk access to some of the nation’s most closely guarded military secrets would be a dramatic expansion of his already extensive role as an adviser to President Trump and leader of his effort to slash spending and purge the government of people and policies they oppose.

It would also bring into sharp relief the questions about Mr. Musk’s conflicts of interest as he ranges widely across the federal bureaucracy while continuing to run businesses that are major government contractors. In this case, Mr. Musk, the billionaire chief executive of both SpaceX and Tesla, is a leading supplier to the Pentagon and has extensive financial interests in China.

I will repeat— an honest historian 100 years away in a different country will say we had a dual executive.  It’s not a joke, Elon has extensive powers and authorities that traditionally only belong to the president. He’s actually exercised more expansive executive authority than many presidents.

A lot of people(read:idiots) think the Biden economy hitting all time highs every other day for months was an epic failure. Cuz ‘flation and eggs.

As a progressive/liberal/pinko-commie bastard born and raised in Texas, spending nearly all of the first half of my life in a conservative small town out in West Texas, I can assure anyone who would question the veracity of Biff’s story that a trumptard will automatically assume that any straight, white, middle-aged man they address is also one. They take it as a given that you’ve also drank the Kool-Aid for that piece of shit, and they are not shy about it. It’s much the same way fundagelicals will try to push their perverted version of American Christianity on you without beating an eyelash.

I think the Park Cities country club set still abides by the general notions of don't discuss politics or religion in polite company.  That, together with the assumption that if you're wealthy you're with em probably means it doesn't get brought up much.

And even if racism has been rampant in that area forever, there's still some shame in it, and, again, doesn't get explicitly referenced.

It's really the grievance/blame culture that makes the super-culty un-self-aware Trumpers, and they're mostly poor idiots.  The Park Cities set is more "muh taxes" than any grievance.

It's akin to his expressions of disbelief from those, such as myself, who grew up in rural fundagelical families. Many of us have patiently explained to that stubborn donkey about all the kooky shit we grew up having to hear, but Rex is a hard-headed asshole who I strongly suspect had quite a financially privileged upbringing.

Oh, he'll tell you he frequently travels to the Permian Basin or SE Texas to work on deals, and so, therefore, he’s "in touch" with salt-of-the-earth, red-blooded Texans. He'll say he's *shocked* or feign disbelief by the stories we, the people actually from those places, tell about our own personal experiences.

I suppose I can thank spending my formative years for exposing me to uncut christofascism at an early age.

To tell the God's honest truth, I'm torn on Rex. He engages in conversations at times, but more often than not, he acts like an obnoxious and obstinate prick. I'm just not sure if he really leads such a sheltered life or if he's simply a contrarian cunt.

Read a funny quote today in a satire blog:

Quote

Good morning LPs,

If another person asks me where I stand on the debate of whether or not Elon Musk is an American hero or Nazi, I’m going to attempt to launch myself into space. My grandfather always told me that having a political opinion was for poor people. I do however support lighting Tesla’s on fire, but only if it’s for a good reason. Like showing people that you can get away with throwing $100k in the garbage.

MAGA customer told me today that she fears we may be heading to recession “because Trump inherited such a bad economy and he’s only doing what he thinks is right for this nation, but it may be too late.”  It takes so much energy to not tell her she’s a fucking moron.

In the past couple of days I've spoken with two people who had said (edit: sarcastically) 'our Canadian friends' and 'the Canadians don't like us.'

the dumbest people fucking alive ....

Arkansas Republican bill would ban giving "gender-nonconforming" haircuts to minors.

H.B.1668 would hold liable "any person who knowingly causes a minor's social transition" — including change to clothing or hairstyle.

Penalty starts at $10,000 minimum up to $10 million damages for certain forms of gender-affirming care.
