To sum this up:

1. JFC, Johntay.  Get off social media, lay low, and find a mentor. Asap.

He is not posting to Instagram anymore. Not sure about X. Guessing it's hard to post when you don't have your phone.

Can someone please alert Immamac that recent site update keeps opening the Johntay Cook is Dismissed from the team thread on BurnOrange&White's computer and forcing him to post on it?

  • Theft? At least the cops didn't have to tell him to drop it.

Of course we don't know, but if he does have an addiction, it just shows the power it has over someone. He has thrown away all the countless hours he spent perfecting his craft, learning the system, forming relationships with teammates and coaches, going to class (if he did) working out, etc, for a self-destructive endeavor. Again, just speculating, but the evidence is there.

I don't think the stuff back in the late 80's/early 90's would have had the same affect on Johntay's life

I feel bad for the guy. Hope he can snap out of this downward spiral and get his life in order.

what a ridiculous comment.

Of course it's a knock on his character.  If you were fired from 2 jobs, in rapid succession, for drugs yet you're still being caught with drugs that's a character problem.

Maybe hold off until you get back on track

Yeah, this has nothing to do with a questionable law. This has to do with a fucking idiot continuing to have encounters with the police because he’s a fucking idiot.

My buddy once got fired from Chuck E. Cheese's and Boston Market within a two week period, both essentially drug related.

He's an attorney now. And he's not nearly as talented as Cook is.

So please forgive me if I reserve pity. #RespectMyDecision

Johntay is obviously spiraling out and making every wrong decision where possible. I was just genuinely surprised you can arrested for something in Texas that is legalized basically every where else in the free world. You can walk right through TSA now with THC products. Just odd that Texas would still be enforcing this.

I don’t know anything about the kid other than what I’ve seen on this board. Hopefully he’s just making dumb decisions and will grow up. Hopefully these aren’t the first signs of bipolar or schizophrenia (which are typically diagnosed after adolescence/ in early adulthood). Have a close friend who is bipolar and decided to self medicate (mostly pot after getting off his prescribed meds) and then set everything in his life ablaze (family, career, etc) and became homeless, delusions of grandeur, the whole 9. They become the most frustrating, unlovable people and there generally aren’t a lot of good endings.

Is this a bit?

It's my understanding that most large cities in Texas don't arrest for small amounts of weed, but good luck getting that treatment in Podunk, TX.

I would guess most people wouldn’t have been arrested. Johntay obviously caught someone’s eye. He’s a dumbass.

Take this shit somewhere else, dumbfuck.

Many of you want to debate why they enforced a law up there in Pottsboro but are forgetting what most likely led to that charge.

I’d be willing to bet that charge was the result of something similar to this:

Pig: “Do you know how fast you were going back there?”

JC:”Nah bitch, do you know who I am?”

Pig:”it smells and looks like you’re higher than a Chinese weather balloon. I need you to step out of the car.”

…and you can guess where it probably went from there. I bet that wasn’t the goal at all to give him a marijuana charge but it became something after a reason to stop him and he didn’t help himself.

He clearly did not have a reputation for respect and etiquette with others. I can’t imagine he was having a polite conversation when he got into this.

guys, this isn't a thread to debate the legality of weed.

Do you know how fucking hard it is to get arrested for weed in Texas? Pull your heads out of your ass and go argue in the right forum about this. Johntay Cook's brain is cooked and he's a fuckup.

Joey Tribbiani Flirt GIF

So a thread about a former 5 star WR that managed to get himself booted from two major programs in the blink of an eye has digressed into posts about where on the planet weed is legal? Who gives a fuck? The arrest was after he got kicked off both teams. He got booted because he's a petulant selfish undisciplined asshole that can't function in a structured team environment.

Where is JC’s “family” and close people to get his shit straight? Young man is pissing away potential generational money.

I hope Johntay can find clarity in his situation and get right. I hope there is no more negative press/social media on this guy going forward and only wish him the best. He “was” a Longhorn!

I liked your post, so I expanded it into a poem using iambic pentameter, courtesy of ai:

Where are the ones who guide him on his path,
The kin, the friends, the voices strong and wise?
His fortune fades like footprints lost in sand,
A wealth that years could nurture, now at risk.

Oh, may Johntay find his way once more,
And cast aside the shadowed steps he treads.
No tale of folly, scandal, or regret—
But only strength and promise in its place.

For once he wore the burnt-orange proud and bold,
A Longhorn’s heart still beats within his chest.
So let him rise, let clearer days unfold,
And may his future shine beyond the rest.

Hook ‘em!
