November 8, 20241 yr Imagine how stupid it is to quit on a top 5 team. Lmao. A number 5 receiver on a top 5 team will get paid more from a non top 5 team. The math isn’t hard on this one.

That guy blocks hard for his size and gives maximum effort when he's on the field, even though he's probably had a lesser role than he expected. I've literally never seen him take a play off since he put on the burnt orange. Even if he's a one year rental he will be fondly remembered by me when he's gone, that type of player is rare these days He's not coming back because this is his fifth year and he has no eligibility remaining.

November 12, 20241 yr *checks notes* team this guy just quit on just destroyed Florida and is the favorite for SECCG berth and has nearly locked down a playoff spot no matter what.

November 12, 20241 yr I can seek Oregon taking Cook, but I think he’ll get nowhere near the NIL deal he got from Texas, or that Stewart got from UO.

It can be chalked up to arrogance and immaturity, but his approach was flawed both tactically and strategically. Players tend to have really strong relationships with position coaches and the rest of the position room. Given that, the *obvious* first step is to talk to the position coach. "Hey, I am not getting reps. What can I do? What am I missing?" etc. Second steps are to work your ass off relative to the feedback from the coach. Support your team; support your teammates. Wait for the end of year assessment and make your decisions then. If the assessment is, "Hey, you are WR5 on a team who has 4 1st or 2nd round NFL players. It's looking the same next year. What do you think?" If the answer is, "I am going to stay and work my ass off" you likely are not processed. If you decide to seek a place for more PT, there is a strong likelihood that you will get help from WR coach, OC, and possibly even HC to find a landing spot. That's what good managers do: "Hey, Johntay's a team player; he works hard; he's inquisitive; we just have too many folks right now."
November 12, 20241 yr @boilerhorn Yeah, its honestly not that far from the real work world. If you're under performing and engage with management, create a plan to work with more successful teammates and mentors you're going to get a lot more wiggle room and opportunity. If it's still not happening and you go find a new job while still trying to do your current one, most of the time the the management is going to be supportive of your move to the new company. Shit bagging on your company to co-workers and threatening to leave while under performing and making no efforts to improve.... GTFO Edited November 12, 20241 yr by BurntEyes

November 12, 20241 yr Wide open, had defenders beat, but dropped way too many passes. The Miss State game was the nail in the coffin for Cook. Golden, Bond, Moore, Bolden and Wingo are more reliable. Honestly he should come up to SMU. He would do well there.

I'm sure plenty of teams would take a chance on a former highly rated guy for minimal NIL commitment. If Cook still believes he's a star despite all the film he's put out to the contrary then he's going to have a hard time finding a team.
