Can someone please alert Immamac that recent site update keeps opening the Johntay Cook is Dismissed from the team thread on BurnOrange&White's computer and forcing him to post on it?

  • Theft? At least the cops didn't have to tell him to drop it.

I can seek Oregon taking Cook, but I think he’ll get nowhere near the NIL deal he got from Texas, or that Stewart got from UO.

I don't think they will now. Cook has speed but he doesn't have exceptional speed. 3 of our WRs right now have more speed than him. Cook doesn't have size.

They're adding Moore who has speed and no size. They don't need Cook.

How many third string transfer receivers are the source of significant social media discussion? Exactly one. Tweeting that picture was a smart move exposure-wise

There must have been a lot going on behind the scenes.  Normally someone will happily bring in a guy that was highly ranked even if he hasn't lived up to the hype.

Someone will. I mean even Denver Harris keeps getting chances.

Doubt it's anyone with a playoff chance is taking him

Wide open, had defenders beat, but dropped way too many passes. The Miss State game was the nail in the coffin for Cook. Golden, Bond, Moore, Bolden and Wingo are more reliable.

Honestly he should come up to SMU. He would do well there.

Moochie Dixon has done okay at SMU but it's not a particularly easy room to crack and it isn't getting easier. He had 25 catches in '22 and '23 and just 8 so far in '24.

SMU would probably gladly take Wingo.

Denver Harris is at UTSA. I doubt that's what Johntay had in mind when he hit the Portal.

Was there really any doubt which poster would have this take?

Cook is a bitch for quitting on his team in the middle of a CFP run, and then being a petty fuck face posting pics of himself in cosplay

This is actually true because if you combine all the posters on this thread, Helobious' intelligence alone weighs the average down to a step above an insect.

Why is Wingo being discussed? Brain fart, and you meant Cook? Because every program would gladly take Wingo, no probably about it.

Humility correlates strongly WITH confidence.

"Confidence" without humility is Arrogance: A way to hide self-doubt by puffing yourself up.

I used to think that Helo wasn't a bit; that he was just stupid.

Now I'm convinced that this is a bit.

I refuse to believe that anyone can be this stupid.

All the biggest bad asses I've know in business and sports or otherwise never talked themselves up.

They felt no need to do so. They were humble and had self confidence that their performance would illustrate they're abilities or had already.

I think you guys are being tough on Johntay: he’s actually the most consistent receiver on the team.

2023: 8 receptions 136 yards

2024: 8 receptions 137 yards

Talking yourself up isn't the issue. Some things require it for marketing and visibility. A little self-PR can go a long way. Nobody will see the work I do if I don't yell about it; you only notice it when I fuck up.

Yeah well, most of them just say stuff like "I got this." "I'm capable", "I appreciate the opportunity", "look forward to the opportunity".

Not "Hold my beer".

It depends, seriously. Muhammad Ali was always talking himself up... it wasn't arrogance; it was part of the show. Deion Sanders, while he had minor flaws, wasn't talking himself up for nothing. All part of the show.

Well what else is he going to put on social media? His game film?

They never do, but sometimes reality is a tough pill to swallow.

Nice.

Reminds me of the world’s shortest books. Great German Chefs, Great French War Heros!

Tremendous talent but not a complete WR. Will be up to the next team to turn him into a better pass catcher and blocker. Otherwise no different than one of those fast combine guys that gets drafted by the Raiders then flames out.

See, you're thinking logically.

I'm sure plenty of teams would take a chance on a former highly rated guy for minimal NIL commitment. If Cook still believes he's a star despite all the film he's put out to the contrary then he's going to have a hard time finding a team.

If Dykes at TCU doesn’t take him then we know something is wrong. He specializes in taking 5-star busts.

On shit... Tay has just been "Helob'd

I think other players will look at Cook and what he did and is doing, and will hopefully learn something about working hard and being a member of this team….of course, they will want to see how this does or does not work out for Cook.  Life lessons 101.

These guys were the biggest big men on campus in high school.  I'm honestly surprised how many of them ARE reasonably humble when they hit the 40 Acres.

If you have listened to Sark talk about the recruiting process, this isn't a surprise. He's going to pass on talent that doesn't come with humility.

What's interesting to me is the JC is acting like victim with a straight face after getting mostly 1st team reps in Spring and Fall camps.

Don't act like you weren't given the opportunity.  Others just played better.  That's life.  Work harder and move on.

Beyond the drops, it sounds like there are other problems, which might be gathered unter the umbrella of lack of, or even counter, culturization.

For some reason I have a feeling that he may have had a poor attitude toward being coached. Learning to not drop catchable balls, always running the called route, learning blocking techniques... lack of effort seems like possible problems.

I dunno. Like many of you, I had high hopes for him. Too bad. Wish him well, just don't expect it.

Goin' up the country, mama. Don't you want to go

Poor attitude, not asking what he can do to get back into the rotation, what he can work on, stay late for meetings, arrive early to practice like DeAndre Moore, Ryan Wingo, Silas Bolden, Matthew Golden, arrive early for meetings, talk to Sark and Jackson. You know, the little stuff that goes a long way. Work out with Quinn and Arch to get a grasp on their throws.

Sounds like he expected to be in the starting rotation without actually putting in the work, and when he didn't get his way he started to become a cancer, so Sark cut him loose.

All speculation, but it seems like that would be it.
