Gotta admit, Mr. US-led Rules Based International Order responding with this gif to this post, with emphasis on the consistency part, is pretty fucking hilarious.  Thanks for that.

Come off it. That (the post WWII rules based international order) was at stake 2017, not now. It was worth protecting in my opinion but that’s all over but the crying. That hasn’t been at issue in years.
This world of 2024 is the world you wanted. It’s Bartertown now. I didn’t want this, but in a way I’ve been waiting my whole life for it, and I guess I don’t understand why you seem so bitter.
You won! What’s with the attitude?

You got posters on this thread that have literally posted that they hope that other posters get to see the life leave their family members eyes while their blood pools around their feet, so spare me the fucking vapors over a critique of the evidence base for certain medical interventions, and a US medical establishment that is increasingly isolated in their approach.

The NHS is controlled by the British government. Our Endocrine Society and the Mayo Clinic are not under the federal thumb. They are run by experts in their field.  You are due no credibility on the subject, as your posts have proven. You have met every opportunity to explain, to convey, and to inform by choosing to ridicule.

Musk going pure austerity is a good thing, nothing more unpopular than getting cash and then told no. I do hope they really tighten the screws.

I've recently come to the conclusion that his presidency was more poisonous than Nixon's.

His own party only shamed him because the media was able to put a light on his dirty deeds. The lesson they learned was to buy their own media to use to defend themselves and attack their enemies, not to be less shitty.

Chip Roy, come get you some leopard.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/12/19/trump-administration-transition/#link-3DGB3RBIGVCUXK7O5VVMQND3M4

President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday issued blistering criticism of Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) as House Republicans raced to meet Trump’s latest demands to avoid a government shutdown.

“The very unpopular ‘Congressman’ from Texas, Chip Roy, is getting in the way, as usual, of having yet another Great Republican Victory — All for the sake of some cheap publicity for himself,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform, later adding, “Weak and ineffective people like Chip have to be dismissed as being utterly unknowledgeable as to the ways of politics, and as to Making America Great Again.”

In a second post, Trump said he hoped “some talent challengers” were preparing to run against Roy and that the incumbent “won’t have a chance!”

It was not immediately clear how Roy upset Trump. But Roy is a well-known fiscal hawk who has resisted raising the debt ceiling, something that Trump is asking from Republican lawmakers as they rush to avert a government shutdown before the weekend.

Roy appeared to respond to Trump on X, saying: “My position is simple — I am not going to raise or suspend the debt ceiling (racking up more debt) without significant & real spending cuts attached to it. I’ve been negotiating to that end. No apologies.”

Trump and Roy have clashed before. Trump also called for primary challengers against Roy in a Truth Social post about a year ago, though it came days after the candidate filing deadline for the 2024 primary in Texas, and Roy went unopposed.

Roy was one of the few House Republicans to back Trump’s rival in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trump’s second post about Roy on Thursday also brought up Rep. Bob Good (R-Virginia), who lost his primary this year after Trump endorsed his challenger.

“By the way, how’s Bob Good doing?” Trump asked.

The Farmers need to just pull themselves up by their boot straps and get jobs.  (This one is almost as glorious as the Dearborn Caucus.)

Farm Bureau writes urging Yes vote on CR: "dire conditions of the rural economy...farmers cannot wait another month for assistance" Seems like electing arsonists may not have been wise for rural US! Good news is the scourge of tampons in boys bathrooms will be eradicated.

Or get a second job in one of the many slaughterhouses and meat processing plants that are about to see a 75% decrease in workers once Miller convinces Trump and Elmo to send ICE agents their way. Those hard workin', back bone of 'murica, honest day's work for an honest day's pay types are gonna love trying to make their $80K truck's note on an extra $7/hour.

From colleague Aishah Hasnie Pre-dawn meeting between Johnson, Freedom Caucus, Vance and Trump Budget pick Vought

Pay attention to that name - Vought. That’s Russ Vought, the incoming head of OMB. He’s very smart, competent, and practical. He knows how the government works and what strings to pull. He’s the policy brain of Project 2025 at Heritage and a true-believer, a self identified Christian Nationalist, and the guy I am most worried about.

When the GOP manages to pull themselves together well enough to do real damage over the next four years, he will usually be at the center of it.

Me too, but on the other hand watching Trump repeatedly swoop in at the last minute to fuck up Vought’s plans because of something Trump saw on Twitter or someone who came into his office, and seeing their relationship degrade in public until the inevitable firing/disgrace/shunning will be fun.

There is nothing remotely surprising about this second term for Trump. Who he is and what he plans to do was right there under everybody's noses in bright, clear sunlight. Ignorance is no defense. In my lifetime, there has never been an election that painted a clearer picture of the American electorate.

There's no way anyone could say they think he's a good person or capable of running the country/world.  They're just lazy and willfully stupid.

This shit is all amazing... fucking whipsaw from Barack Obama to Elon Musk and Putin's proxy.

Is there a black cock-a-roach ninja in gray slacks that gets to fix all this in four years?

President Prime?

Shit. I’d rather have Elon than Trump.

Both are egotistical and racist, but at least Elon knows how NOT to turn everything he touches into dogshit.

Will Elon be vengeful? Probably. But I bet he doesn’t get butthurt every time someone says something slightly negative.
