You really don't want to live in a country where that actually happens.

Shit hasn't even gotten bad yet, everyone in here is just whining. We aren't even to mid 1970s bad yet. Wait till some shit actually happens.

In another thread over on TexAgs this week, a regular poster was lamenting the loss of contact with their daughter after she got into a big fight with them over politics - but really, it was because “she chose the gay lifestyle” and they were spending all their time trying to beat her over the head with scripture and pray the gay away. A few replies pushed back about unconditional love and trying to be accepting - but the majority were in agreement with the OP. The tell was how many of them also admitted to being estranged from kids or other family members - all because they were being assholes and could never admit any other non-far-right-wing viewpoint was valid.

an acquaintance of mine informed me the other day he is divorcing his wife because she's inflicted with the "woke mind virus" and he cannot have a conversation with her that isn't political. I'm sure it's a wildly misconstrued viewpoint, but it's pretty astounding some of these people would rather throw away relationships than admit that maybe their worldview isn't in sync with a helluva lot of other peoples'. It's easier to blame a made up condition than actually face the reality that your political views hurt other people

I mean, if that was the full story, she'd be divorcing him.  There aren't that many truly liberal/progressive women out there who would stay with a Trumpster.  Either she is the one who initiated the break-up or she is pretty moderate.

of course it's not the full story and it took all I could to not laugh in the guy's face. but he's ex-military (purportedly special forces) and a factor larger than me, so I hedged my bets on the side of safety and kept my mouth shut, nodded, and listened. and then ended up with, "that sucks dude, I hope it works out for both of you." and made my exit. just amazing.

Ask him if Tamiflu or some other anti viral can be used. Maybe that virus will clear up, and blowing up the marriage isn't necessary.

Mid 1970s?  You mean they are gonna bring back disco, tie dye and feathered hair?  I can dig that actually.

Ask him what RFK Jr used to clear up the brainworm. Maybe that’ll help with the woke mind virus.

Exactly. Speaking as the rare example of a middle aged white man with the quads to pull off short gym/running shorts and swimsuits, I'm happy to see them come back.

Problem with that time-frame is women had the right to choose after 1973. So, if we're going with that decade, it could only be a small window.

Just go hang out with a bunch of Germans at a Caribbean beach. You will fit right in.

on honeymoon in St Lucia, we stayed at a small resort. One of the few other guests staying during our stay was a German family. The father was clearly an avid consumer of sausage/schnitzel/good German beer, as he had a proud round gut and the requisite girth to go along with it. Lacking the normal level of public scrutiny/shame, dude ROCKED the smallest speedo allowable by international law. It was quite the sight. Later on during a trip to a wonderful botanical gardens, the German father and his son diligently both photographed and videotaped almost each and every individual flower.

My new advice to anybody feeling ill is to take bleach.  Ivermectin is a close second, but both have been endorsed by the president, so purge away.

Since he is a veteran, tell him to go the closest VA and ask tor urgent help.  When we gets there and its been closed by Trumps cuts, tell him he should go fuck himself.

I am, there is a lot of social media noise, and certainly, some people have been hurt but you don't have real sustained backlash until more of the population starts seeing this all play out in our lives.  Pain gotta work up the curve and really start permeating the middle class, urban areas, the burbs etc.

I’m thinking produce and simple groceries going up may do some damage. Restaurants, housing and insurance costing more coming too. Especially when higher unemployment hits. Going to be a red tide indeed.

Biden's puppeteers were using government hiring as a way to hide some of our awful economic numbers from taxpayers. In top of that, they were straight falsifying numbers. Then, they were planting mines that Trump would have to deal with by doing things like hiring unnecessary people to saddle Trump. It isn't sad that those people are losing jobs. They never should have been given jobs.

Biden's puppeteers caused the issue. Trump is solving it.

It's also more projection. They accuse Biden of planting mines and fudging numbers. Trump and Elon are in the middle of doing that right now. Trump is straight deleting evidence of his guilt in Jan. 6th and any of the other lawsuits he can get his hands on through the DOJ. They stopped tracking bird flu numbers, just like they had stopped tracking Covid back in the day. They will hold back data, fudge it, lie about it, omit it.. all kinds of things just to make the "data" fit their narrative. He's an old-school scam artist and fraudster, using the same tired tricks and thinking nobody will catch on if he just repeats the lie enough... and it's working for much of his base.

I saw an elderly British lady read the riot act to a group of German tourists over this years ago.  Pretty sure she threw in that she didn't survive the blitz to have their lot ruin her holiday or something like that.

One of my friends purchased his first house with a mortgage rate at 15%.

I purchased my first home when rates  had plummeted to 13%.  That is one example of the sort of pain that the late 70s /early 80s saw.  But I think Donald can get us there.

Yea and back then home prices were only around 3.5-4x of median income, now they are 7x.
