Corpus is Puro Trump !!!

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — DOGE cancelled the lease on a 17,039 sq. ft. property rented by the U.S. Attorneys' Office in Corpus Christi worth $409,689 annually, according to the governmental spending watchdog's website Thursday.

The website does not list an address, but a Google search lists the U.S. Attorneys Office at 800 N. Shoreline Blvd, Ste. 500, which is One Shoreline Plaza.

Port of CC was (WAS) a major shipping point for USAID material. It was a prepositioned storage place for goods and transhipment point for food. There are others, but fuck CC.

I got my haircut today by my longtime barber. He is a Vietnamese refugee who became a citizen in the 70s.  He is a huge Trumper, a non-critical thinker, but watches his Fox and OAN and considers himself extremely politically astute.   He will never vote for the Democrats because they are “close to being communist, and he knows all about communist from his time living in Vietnam”, don’t you know….

We’ve had a truce for some time where we don’t really get into politics. Today he wanted to talk about DOGE, and why it was good to eliminate the fraud. I told him the fraud was a lie, they just wanted to get rid of anyone who could stop Trump from implementing his project 25 plans.

He then switched to how terrible it is that people don’t get along because of politics.  Because he wouldn’t drop it, I told him it is no longer politics. We are no longer fighting about trickle down economics, or fighting about Middle East policy.  We have a pathological, liar, felon, rapist, con man - supported by white supremacists - who is destroying the efficiency and fabric of American government to an extent that can’t be cured if we ever get a Democrat back in.

He told me it was “ silly for politics to interfere with friends and family”.   At that point I’ve had enough and told him I no longer have anything to do with Republicans who voted for Trump in 2024, because they are fake Christians and false patriots who are actually traitors- and although I wish the upcoming American pain could be confined to people who voted for Trump, I am looking forward to lots of pain in rural and stupid GOP strongholds.   At this point, he was getting pissed at me, and said that I was brainwashed.    He doesn’t make much at his hair cutting, and his federal employee wife is the big breadwinner in the family.   He then told me his wife had to give five reasons why she should be retained, and she gave 15 so she would be kept.  I laughed and said she’s gonna be fired anyway, and told him to call up Trump on the line when she gets fired and explain why that was wrong.

Whelp, I was advised that I need a new barber.

Triggered by Democrats, but when you bring up Trump and the GOP, they ask you to "stop taking politics too seriously". SOP for Trump apologists. Good for you, enough of this shit.

During the first Trump administration, I recall reading an article that there was a push to privatize the agency. Imagine the havoc that a service industry like that going private would be during extreme events. Want updates on that hurricane? Fork it over man.

See if I can find that article...ah, well there have been more since that one so here's a few for anyone that wants some quick reads listed newest to oldest:

Back in 2005, Rick Santorum (R-Fecal Matter) introduced a bill to prevent the Weather Service from giving away their data and information.  The prime benefactor would have been Accuweather, a Pennsylvania company.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Weather_Service_Duties_Act_of_2005#:~:text=In the wake of the, also a Santorum campaign contributor.

So, this isn't a new thing.  It's been just lying dormant for sometime.  It's funny; traditionally,   the Weather Service has bipartisan support and enjoys high support polling-wise.

479523311_10234013499095545_810712229337

But then again, it's a new day.   I've always thought that even Ted Cruz would support the Weather Service, given there are 10 offices in Texas alone.  Nothing would surprise me any longer.

Edited by Francisco 2.0

Michael Lewis did a chapter on Trump nominating Barry Myers, CEO of Accuweather to be the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere in The Fifth Risk. Good read, if you want to freak yourself out more about Trump 2.0. The potrait he painted of Trump 1.0 was bad enough.

Thank you for the additional information. The high support is nowhere to be seen on the Aggie forum--they figure AI and models can take care of it and/or the numbers are not a high enough percentage to matter.

When I was little I used to watch my older brother play this really old and beat up arcade game at a pizza place our family dined at for a treat. He didn't get to play games like that very often so can't imagine he was all that skilled.  I can't remember what it was called but it seemed like it ended with missiles raining down until the screen was practically white. We're only at the end of February and I'm bug-eyed like I was watching him try desperately to play that game.

ai weather won't give a fuck about broke ass rural america

cities should have good coverage

I'm not sold on ai for weather given some of the other product I've seen out there. I mean, a person living in OKC just minutes away from the Severe Storms Lab in Norman (eventually shut down due to cuts) and a Category 5 is barreling down I-35 towards the subdivision and ai goes with:

"Hell is empty and all the devils are here!"

Now that might be appropriate to have a quote from Shakespeare's The Tempest since it is Oklahoma and all, but LuAnne and Walter in their 2100 sq ft tract home are going to be screwed.

Why would you read it that way? It looks like she's trying to hand over more ammunition and cover for him to go through with the purges already planned.

I mean, in any organization about loyalty over competency the greatest competency is being able to finger scapegoats, and the best way to be promoted is to successfully torpedo the career (in many cases the life) of the people above you. But this seems more like documenting and making public the rationale for various career beheadings within the FBI. You know as an institution there are going to be a lot of people trying to conduct some kind of guerilla warfare to protect their organization. This seems like an attempt to root some of that out as ruthlessly as possible.

In any case if a bunch of highly trained agricultural experts like Aggies say AI and models can take care of all weather issues than I guess we should be fine.
