Maga will figure out pretty quick they're not talking about Mexicans and it'll be all kumbaya. Kick out the browns, bring in the whites. Well, maybe the Vivek browns are okay, the ones that don't speak spanish and work in tech. Only the browns picking fruit deserve to be kicked out or shot at the border. I've seen enough to know that the circle jerk as though maga can be fractured or swayed is an illusion.

it's brown people taking jobs from white people in their minds. they are all "bad" to MAGA.

I thought they had to be paid market wages. I know my 4 visa holders are paid on the same pay scale as anyone else in those roles and receive the same consideration for pay increases as anyone else.

It's not a law. It all depends on the company, and like everything else some companies are good with it and some are bad. There's two medical research companies I've worked with that I know for a fact have used it to suppress wages and save cost. Not every company does it, but it give financial advantages to those that abuse the system, which in turn give competetive advantages, which incentivizes companies to screw over American workers. That's what I believe should be stopped.

H-1B is a good program that needs tweaking. The biggest problem is the minimum wage for an H-1B worker is only $60k. That's pennies for a field with a supposed "labor shortage."

Regardless, MAGA's opposition has nothing to do with any policy and everything to do with where these people are coming from.

anyway, back to the show:

Our new dystopia where AI generated resumes and cover letters which are read and decided upon by AI

3 hours ago, Biff Tannen said:

This is 1000% happening. My wife had a patient who was a machine learning expert (lectured at Oxford on the subject) and said this is exactly the problem right now. Companies are using AI to parse resumes and applicants are sending out AI generated resumes by the thousands.  AI isn’t good enough to actually parse the resumes, so many qualified applicants get auto-rejected. Getting your resume read by an actual human is a complete crapshoot.

Degenerative AI: AI trawling the web and ingesting an increasing amount of AI content is gonna make things fucky.

The internet is becoming awash in words and images generated by artificial intelligence.

Sam Altman, OpenAI’s chief executive, wrote in February that the company generated about 100 billion words per day — a million novels’ worth of text, every day, an unknown share of which finds its way onto the internet.

A.I.-generated text may show up as a restaurant review, a dating profile or a social media post. And it may show up as a news article, too: NewsGuard, a group that tracks online misinformation, recently identified over a thousand websites that churn out error-prone A.I.-generated news articles.

In reality, with no foolproof methods to detect this kind of content, much will simply remain undetected.

All this A.I.-generated information can make it harder for us to know what’s real. And it also poses a problem for A.I. companies. As they trawl the web for new data to train their next models on — an increasingly challenging task — they’re likely to ingest some of their own A.I.-generated content, creating an unintentional feedback loop in which what was once the output from one A.I. becomes the input for another.

In the long run, this cycle may pose a threat to A.I. itself. Research has shown that when generative A.I. is trained on a lot of its own output, it can get a lot worse.

Here’s a simple illustration of what happens when an A.I. system is trained on its own output, over and over again:

"Hapsburg AI" is a preferred term of art for when you feed an ML model it's own shit

Edited by Captainant

I got a good friend who started posting AI shit artwork on Instagram. No biggie to me except he is an actor and not long ago was on strike against AI taking his job.

He has since switched to real artwork. He's not bad at all. I went from silence to encouraging him to do more of the real stuff.

I feel like he's about three months away from saying something like, "I'm not anti-immigration.  We just had the wrong people coming in.  Look what white European immigrants have built here over the last 250 years -- that's what we need more of, not the horde of drug pushers and rapists from, let's face it, Latino countries, that we had to put up with under Joe Biden."

I think he's wanted to say it the whole time.  And I think he will eventually.

As your attorney I advise you to rehab a banana boat and refit it for passenger service. You could carry a dozen+ passengers AND a load of Chiquita bananas because you yourself are the doctor the Man requires to have on board for such a case.
